About Henry's Restaurant

HENRY's is a modern American bistro located on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Our gracious and spacious Dining Room, Bar and Sidewalk Cafe are designed after the Arts & Crafts masterpiece, the Gamble House with mahogany wainscoting and French doors. The walls are filled with bright, food-themed poster art from the Herman Miller Company's Summer Picnic series. HENRY's is the restaurant that one of New York's greatest neighborhoods deserves. We serve an extensive menu of contemporary American bistro food for Lunch, Brunch, Dinner and Late Night. Our bar offers an all-American wine program based on the discovery of delicious wines at accessible prices. We serve an exciting cocktail list, bottled beer on ice and fresh craft beers. HENRY's management and staff meet here every day of the year (except Christmas) to offer our loyal Guests the gift of our work and the value of our experience. We offer great food and beverage at a reasonable price with healthy portions of abundant service.

There is ample on street parking around HENRY's. The bad news is that the parking meters are expensive (25¢ per 10 minutes!) and need to be fed 'til 10pm. Please be aware that the city is very diligent about ticketing. The good news is that we have plenty of quarters available at the bar and we would be happy to run out to feed your meter. We don't want to interrupt your meal. Oh, and on Sundays the meters do not need feeding so come enjoy our bountiful Upper West Side Brunch in peace.

Had a business meeting and was pleased to find they had plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Henry's even had soy milk for tea or coffee. Very accommodating and a pretty venue.

Henry's is a place I go to often, and it never disappoints when it comes to food and service.

I have often come with groups of friends here it is ideal because the tables are spread fairly far apart and so you can hear your own conversations

Went to Henry’s for a Saturday night get together with friends. Service was initially very good, but fell off a cliff between appetizers and main course with a 40-minute wait. Food arrived with an apology from our waiter, but it was warm (not hot) and dried out. Dessert menus were brought promptly , but after a 20-minute wait to place our order, we decided not to order anything as the evening was getting too late.
Have been here for happy hour, which was good value and pleasant, but will not return for dinner.

Went to Henry's with friends for Saturday brunch. It was fine -- nothing special, but okay -- and the service was friendly. The omelets and other egg dishes were fine, but I cannot rate Henry's any higher because the accompanying salad greens were old, and going bad. Obviously, Henry's served lettuce in that deteriorated condition to save on the cost of buying fresh greens. Most unfortunate, and marred an otherwise decent brunch.

Had a great lunch with a friend as a first time diner at Henry’s. A great ambience and the food was terrific. I️ had Henry’s Signature Lunch - 4 small courses on one plate - perfect. My companion had soup , salad and dessert -superb!! Can’t wait to go back for dinner.

The service here is often spotty. This past time the service was terrible and somewhat rude. No matter how good the food is, and it is good- that kills the experience. Not sure I will go back and have been there many many times. Not the first time with bad service tho.

Food and atmosphere quite nice but service has dropped- was acutally quite terrible. It seemed like there were quite a few wait-people but no-one available. Maybe with Serafina now open next door, Henry's will step it up.

Enjoy Henry's frequently because 1, great place to have a conversation with friends. 2, the food
is usually of high quality and moderately priced. Wish the service were the same, but it is always strangely inconsistent . If this were not the case, I would give it 5 stars, not 4.

Specials of Artic Char and chicken Milanese were delicious. Very busy night and service was slow but manager was quite attentive and helped out often for the harried waiter. Could use more staff on busy nights.

I hadn't been to Henry's in close to 18 years and it did NOT disappoint! Everything from the beet salad to the cheese plate, oysters, hamburger, steak, salmon and specialty drinks was fantastic. Best meal in a while. We were lucky enough to tell Henry himself and we were treated lovely from beginning to end!

A very comfortable cozy place with high ceilings and best of all, non-sound-reflective surfaces and no piped music. Very quiet, excellent, often surprising but never weird food, a good place for a friendly dinner. And, reasonably priced.

Our experience was excellent. Henry’s has a varied, creative menu for all palates and needs. The bowl of mussels in curry sauce w plump mussels and chunks of potato was delicious and substantial. My friend reported the rare burger was supreme.
Will definitely return and recommend. Suggest eating at Henrys (and going to Smoke jazz on same block!)

I love this restaurant for dinner, but every time I go for lunch, the service is bad. The wait staff has a ridiculous habit of disappearing, and you literally have to get up and find them. The busboys are clueless - they walk around with trays of tea and coffee not knowing who they go to. This restaurant needs to upgrade its staff training if they want me and my friends back for lunch.

This use to be one of my favorite places. Notice I said use to. The food was okay. The service wasn't. Our waitress was nice and polite, but clearly lacked knowledge of the drink menu offerings. Not her fault, but clearly training is lacking . Long period of time to even be offered menu and drinks. Either more wait staff is needed or they have to be managed to be more attentive. Won't be back anytime soon. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review

The apps and entrees were great but service in the weeds. We got there before 6 pm and the bar still took 40 min to get us a bottle of wine. They were either short staffed or just not concerned with keeping the drinks coming. We easily would have ordered another round if service was faster.

The yellow fin tuna was very good!
Gazpacho soup very good.
The garden salad was boring and had too much dressing.

Henry's is always reliable. This time we sat outside to enjoy a warm evening. The service was very kind and gracious. Loads of bus boys came by to always make sure we were well taken care of. On Wednesdays Henry's offers several bottles of wine for $28. These were excellent choices and kept the bill very reasonable. One can find healthy options and these are tasty. It really has offers for all diets and tastes. I will be sure to return soon. Every time I have gone I have been pleased.

We have frequented Henry's for many years now. Food is consistently good, great burgers, variety on menu, great lunch/brunch spot. Chef has been trying some new items and kudos to him! wonderful! The staff is great, Henry is available and friendly, greets his diners; terrific neighborhood spot, nice bar; warm and friendly, what more can you ask for?! We've celebrated birthdays, sat outside for a warm Sunday brunch, take the family, friends when we want to make sure all enjoy their meals!

Great neighbor restaurant. The food and service were impeccable. Great deserts. Will share next time as they are HUGE! And bonus on Wednesday's, selection of wines by the bottle are only $28. Can't beat it. We can't wait to go back.

Food is great, nicely prepared. We were there for a Sunday lunch and it felt a little chaotic. All the servers had good humor and were as attentive as they could be, but they were just super busy.

Seating was instant as we had reservations. Service was extremely slow but not because of the waiter. We were advised that they were short staffed because someone called in sick. They should have had a temp. The food was well prepared. We had salmon and pasta, both dishes were good. All staff that served us were accommodating, clearing table and presenting entrees.

Aside from open table not letting me make the reservation at 6:30 but the restaurant had no problem allowing it, it is a neighborhood fixture. The food and service is good, the tables nicely spaced, you can hear across the table. No rushing, either. Great ambiance. I go a few times a year.

Henry's always pleases
Everything you want. Great food, decent bar, good service, enormously pleasant ambiente. You never leave there grumbling about something (too loud, too cramped next to strangers, too pretentious, too banal, trying too hard, etc). You can always dine with friends pleasantly--ultimately the best part of a restaurant. Thanks always, Henry's. Lovely experience consistently.

Needed to find a place half way between NJ and CT for a group of friends who have not seen each other in many years, that was also vegan friendly. Food was great, service friendly and accommodating, and we were able to comfortably stay for several hours without being rushed out. Will definitely return!

Rather dull menu. For such an empty restaurant, the service was impossible. Had to ask multiple times for beverages. Food was average, but didn't go there looking for anything more than average. It was the lack of service that was disappointing.
