Very good food combined with a good staff. Everyone was helping out. But it's not cheap. It is very good though and has unusual dished you won't find everywhere.
The staff at Henry’s were gracious and professional, and knowledgeably answered questions about the menu. Cocktails were expertly prepared. The menu was replete with excellent choices, including many clearly marked as gluten-free. I was so glad to be able to sample some of the game that the restaurant is famous for—duckling with spicy mole. The ample mole was rich and complex, pooled under a deboned half-duck that was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. One could not ask more from such a dish. The grilled asparagus side was perfectly prepared—not too crispy, not wilting, and responded to the knife. Chocolate mousse and a cup of cappuccino for dessert was the perfect ending. We’ll be back!
As always Henry’s End is great. The tuna was spectacular and I had the best martini ever!
Wonderful food. Great ambiance. Great staff. We will be back.
The food is insanely expensive given the portions and lack of sides included. Sides are extra at about $10/each. It's good food but nothing stellar for our liking. But what made spending $125 worse? The service. It was awful. We live in the neighborhood and can walk here but there's nothing that will get us to go back. Our requests for our food was ignored, our prompt to go back as we'd like beer was ignored, our table was ignored during our entire dining experience, and we opted to not order dessert to go as a result. Horrible service which left an incredibly stale taste in our mouth.
We asked the manager politely if it was the standard experience which was met with excuses. We didn't want our meal "comp'd" in any way; but wanted too see if our experience was normal and the defensiveness was... strange.
We will keep with our less high scale neighborhood joints and be able to go there twice for the price here.
Cozy French cafe feel. Excellent service. Food delicious and presentation lovely.
Great food super attentive service without being overbearing in a great spot
The food at Henry’s End is always fabulous, the service terrific. The ambience is not ideal and the noise level high, but the food and service make dining here a great choice.
Delightful experience. enjoyed calamari, caesar salads, ribs and salmon with mustard. Service was excellent. comfortable outside setup. we will be back!
For more than 20 years - among the best there is - anywhere in the NY metropolitan area!
We went not knowing what to expect. Small quaint local neighborhood place. The ribs were especially good. Prices were very reasonable
One of our favorite spots - we highly recommend it!
We had a lovely dinner outside at Henry's End on Henry Street on a warm Saturday night at the end of June. We have dined her many, many times before over the years, but this was the first time at the new location and the first time since the lockdown. Food is consistently good and the offerings are varied and interesting. Portions are ample, service was prompt and professional. We lived in Brooklyn Heights in the 80's and are always happy to return here for a fine meal.
Great food and ambience every time! The specials are always so good, perfectly cooked, and great presentation as well. Highly recommend!!
I have always had a fantastic dining experience at Henry’s End. Last night was no different. The same excellent food and service!
Excellent food & service & ambience. Some diners at nearby tables were noisy though.
We have been dining regularly at Henry's End since 1979, and it has been uniformly excellent on every visit. Mark Lahm's attention to detail is more than impressive‑‑-the wine selection is top-notch as is the fare that comes your way from the kitchen (I'm rather fond of the Steak Diane . . . and the Mud Pie & Bonnie's Tiramasu desserts are to die for). Its current location (a block or so farther south from its original site on Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights) does not have quite the same ambience, but maybe that's just a minor tic from an old-timer customer with such great memories of the location we first discovered all those years ago. Mark's second and more recent enterprise, the "Brooklyn Heights Wine Bar & Kitchen" just a block north on Henry, is a great place to have a pre-dinner cocktail or two while waiting for your Henry's End reservation to roll up. Two terrific places for the discerning diner/imbiber to investigate in beautiful Brooklyn Heights. . . .
I have not been to Henry’s End since the pandemic but it was first on my list of restaurants to return to and it did not disappoint. As usual, the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Can’t wait to return.
Great food. Large portions. Menu was not too standard.
Just the best!
I've been coming here for years and have NEVER been disappointed.
If you're in the area you must go and if you're not it's well worth the trip.
Reservations are strongly suggested on Friday and Saturday.
Neighborhood favorite. Great desserts. Friendly service.
The food was very mediocre… the elk special was overwhelmed by the burnt sauce; the duck just didn’t work; we have had better rice out of box .. just very disappointing across the board.
Henry's End is an institution in Brooklyn Heights. I dined regularly in its original store-front venue on Henry Street, when it was the sister restaurant to the Manhattan SoHo-based New Deal restaurant (a 1930s moody venue displaying the most amazing period murals). The New Deal is gone, and Henry's End is in a new, somewhat larger location on Henry Street. The menu is less oriented toward featuring the big-game meats that made it famous (tho' Elk Chops continue to be a standard item) ... likely to make the menu less offensive to today's diners. My party of 2 dined on Elk Chops (excellent) and soft shell crabs (nicely done). The meal was good, the ambiance comfortable, the service excellent.
The food is absolutely incredible, the waiters are knowledgeable about wine pairings, and the ambiance of the outdoor seating is both relaxing but feels “fancy.” We had the best duckling and peppered lamb.
We joined another couple for outside dining. We have eaten here inside ( very pleasant but a bit loud) and outside. The service was excellent as was the food. There was a wide and varied selection nicely prepared. This restaurant remains a favorite in a beautiful section of Brooklyn.
This was my first time at their new location. It is really nice. The food was amazing. The menu is so broad and varied I could come many times and try something new and different each time.
Whether you want a quiet meal or a group celebration this is the place for you
Another wonderful meal at Henry's End. We were so excited to see octopus on the menu! It is amazing. Thanks, Mark & Albert!
The service was unbelievably slow. We only ordered a salad that required no cooking and two main courses. The dessert must have been changed because it’s not how I remembered it. I get that someone was training in the kitchen but tell us that at the start of the meal instead of when it is over an hour with no food. We would have just skipped the appetizer. The owner apologized which was nice but it was a really long time to sit with no food coming out. Usually it’s a great time at this restaurant but the poor service really dampened the experience.
Wonderful local place with great owner and great food.
Delicious food with a personal touch. We come to Henry’s End because they always treat us like old friends.
I've been dining at Henry's End for years. There is a reason they have been around so long. They know what they are doing and they do it extremely well. Everything is good but for my money they have the best duck I've EVER had. I say this as a person that has been to New Orleans at least 50 times in my life. Henry's has the BEST duck!!!
We have been going to Henry’s End for many, many years and it was the restaurant we have missed most over the past year.
We eagerly awaited a chance to go back and were very, very pleased to find that it is as excellent as ever.
The food menu is creative and superbly executed, but even more impressive is the level of friendly, efficient service as the servers follow the lead of the ever present and attentive owner.
We cannot wait for our next visit!!
Henry's End is worthy of 100 stars. Every meal - from my first meal there in the early 1980's to today - is a real treat. The experience is always pure joy.
This experience was extremely disappointing. We went to Henry’s End for my partner’s medical school graduation, but there was a gas break while they were preparing dinner. The manager comped our drinks, but did not offer anything else (eg, a gift card to come back again).
Sat. night party of four outside dining. Signature cocktails good. Small plate wedge salad good. Small plate octopus over-cooked and under-seasoned. Crab entree good. Salmon w/beets entree good. Duck w/mushrooms meh. Duckling w/raspberry over-cooked, way under-seasoned and sauce too sweet. Tiramisu dessert good. Lemon pie dessert so-so. Mousse desert white choc. good but dark choc meh.
Henry's End is our absolute favorite local restaurant that never disappoints!
Last night 2 of the specials - the octopus appetizer and the soft shell crabs - were especially delicious. And, the service was excellent as usual.
The outdoor seating was good too with the wait staff paying close attention to COVID safety precautions.
Still a wonderful place to eat! Food was delicious, wait staff wonderful and just feels like your best, special neighborhood place. Long live Henry's End!
So grateful this place has survived and is thriving. It's a neighborhood gem, as they say. Food is great, and the staff and owner are helpful and very pleasant.
