What Insiders Are Saying
A Brooklyn Heights stand-by with upscale, old-fashioned food.
I love to try the different meat on the Game Festival menus, of each phase; it feels very cozy and the food is outstanding as well as the service. The value is very good specially with their wine menu.
Felt that food is better on regular menu than on price fixe
Birthday dinner with my significant other. First try from their wild game menu and first meat entree for the year...elk chop! Tasted real good. Of course we’ll be returning.
Very cool restaurant featuring game and unique dishes, accompanied by some more traditional American options as well.
I give the service 0 stars because we had one of the worst servers! He is a young man with a short dark beard. We only saw him when he came to take our order and when he grudgingly brought our check over after asking someone else for it. He did not come to pick it up--someone else did. It was my husband's birthday ( we usually go to this restaurant for our birthday). I mentioned this when I made the reservation, but nothing special. The food was wonderful, but poor service makes for a very bad experience.
Wonderful dinner! The food was outstanding and the service spectacular. We were celebrating our anniversary and they really worked to make us feel special. The food was also delicious, we recommend the Winter Festival Charcuterie platter. A little on the pricey side but a great find in a fun neighborhood. Would definitely go back.
We had dinner here on new years eve. It didn't live up to my expectations after reading the reviews and there was no special occasion feeling or effort made that it was new years eve; even though there was a set NYE menu at $100 per head. There was nothing wrong with the food but it was very busy and loud without the personal touch so overall a bit disappointing.
Always love coming here with my husband for our annual celebrations. Love treating ourselves to the wild game menu to try new things.
Went for an earlier New Year’s Eve dinner for four (6pm). The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded expectations. I’ve already recommended the restaurant to others and have been raving about it for the last two days. It was honestly superb. Very much looking forward to returning.
Another great meal. Every dish exceeded our expectations. We'll be back and back and back.
Always go there. Have my favorites: waiters, cooks, food. So good and so friendly!!!
Dinner with mom
Truly excellent food, old-fashioned service (in the best way), and cozy, in a classic New York way.
The buffalo, cod, boar, and elk were all fabulous. Small venue but very cozy and friendly. The chef is grilling in the same room you are sitting in. Service is very comfortable
Henry’s End is an awesome way to end your day. Food is always super-fresh, expertly prepared and is absolutely delicious. The service and staff are amazing and genuinely are glad you are there to dine. If you are vegetarian, pescatarian or die-hard game-loving carnivore, you will be more than satisfied. Pair with amazing wine choices and save room for dessert.
Pro tip: Since you will no doubt enjoy you will want to visit again, make sure to sign up for their birthday club to get a complimentary entrée to celebrate.
This restaurant is great as always. I live in the neighborhood and go there all the time. BUT friends who live elsewhere also dine here.
Celebrated my husbands birthday , as usual the food was great , the service impeccable, and the ambiance was prefect . Thanks to Alfred for making it a memorable birthday celebration .
Delicious food and excellent service as always. I can't see my self not going to Henry's End at least a few times per year.
This is a great place. My husband and I went here for our first date 42 years ago, and it's just as good as it was then. The menu had adventurous choices - exotic meats, such as elk and venison - as well as more familiar foods. We were seated near the kitchen, but we never heard a sound. Our friends, who'd never been there, said they are definitely coming back. I'm not waiting another 42 years to go back, too!
Since the early 1980s, I have been a devotee of Henry's End. It never disappoints. Food, service outstanding. A wonderful place for every occasion.
Their duck is the Best.
The wild game festival is spectacular I really enjoyed the menu can't wait for phase 3
Everything was delicious and charming. Loved the game offerings!
Fantastic meal at Henry's End. Met at the door with a smile and made to feel very welcome! Great service and food. A great night out, would definitely recommend.
Went to have a Christmas dinner.
For your birthday, they gift you your entree on them. Very generous.
Always have such a great time here. The service is great and very friendly and the food is always AMAZING!
A visit to Henry's End never disappoints! Great evening, as always.
Best Turtle Soup, best Duck I’ve ever had. And I’ve been eating Turtle Soup and Duck for fifty years!
The food and waiter service was excellent. You weren't rushed and had no wait time for the table.
Excellent menu selection, foid and service.
Creative and eclectic menu, served with panache, Henry’s End hosts newbies and acolytes alike in a rustic, convivial setting that can as easily host a casual family gathering as it could a special occasion. Cheers!
As usual and expected, everything was top-notch. Service was great from walking in the door to leaving. The food is delicious and expertly prepared. The special of butternut squash bisque was silky. Then the duckling was a good as it can get- perfectly crispy skin and the spiced cranberry sauce was a spot-on compliment. We treated my father in law (a former Brooklynite) to dinner here. He had the crab cakes (his usual go to) and loved them in addition to the duck as well. My wife enjoyed her favorite of the pear walnut chicken breast. Their desserts finish the meal perfectly.
Although their wine prices are a drop on the higher side, they give a generous pour when you have a glass.
Henry’s End would have to appear on any “Best of Brooklyn” list.
Always wonderful--food and service. We have been dining at Henry's End for many years now and we feel fortunate to have it as a neighborhood restaurant.
This is a wonderful restaurant. You just can’t believe the consistently wonderful meals that come from the small kitchen.
This restaurant is one of the most efficient and well run dining establishments I've ever seen. Most importantly the food is EXCELLENT. They serve the best duck I've ever had. They also specialize in game and if that cuisine is to your liking, you will not be disappointed. This visit I had the venison osso bucco and my guest had elk chops. Both amazing. The wine selection is very good and the staff is very attentive and professional.
Went to Henry’s End for my birthday eve dinner. I’ve been here several times before and I must say that they made my night extra special with a single candle on my dessert! Everything cooked to perfect. Very pleasant staff as always. Grilled salmon, Moroccan salmon, horseradish & potato crusted cod & an OMG tomato soup. Garlic & cream oh my! Let’s not forget the “fall off the bone tender BBQ ribs.” I don’t eat meat but was indulging in the sight of it. You must go here. Trust me!
I found Henry's End on an Open Table "Top Restaurants in Brooklyn" list. I was a bit surprised how long it took the staff to come over to our table-we sat for at least 25 minutes before someone came over to take our drink order. A couple that sat down after us had their drinks served before we even put in an order. It felt very odd, I wondered if the staff forgot about us? Other than this mishap, the food was delicious-the tortilla crusted shrimp small plate was phenomenal and had a delicious guacamole dipping sauce. Would give this place another shot.
Talk about an amazing meal. Food was absolutely delicious, service was excellent, and we were lucky enough to partake in wild-game week. We look forward to returning again soon.
