Henrietta's Table Ratings and Reviews
We had reserved through Open Table. After Christmas Revels which ran later than announced, I called Henriette’s to let them know we'd be about 10 minutes late for our 8:15 reservation. The hostess said, “No problem.” When we arrived, around 8:30, there was no one at the host stand. After about 5 minutes or so, someone appeared. I told her we had a reservation. She could not find it on the computer. But the restaurant was far from full so she showed us to a table. We waited for another 5 minutes or so and our waiter came--very cordial, very nice. He took our drinks and out food order. When the drinks arrived, we realized that the table was very unsteady--the top was quite loose and shaky. Our waiter was nowhere in sight. We asked another wait staff person walking by to please send over our waiter. He returned then said he had to call the "engineer." The manger (I think) came a few minutes later, and then said we were moving to the next table. Neither the manager nor the other staff person there helped us move out glasses until I asked the manager, were we to move all our plates and glasses ourselves? and then we waited a bit more till our waiter reappeared and he brought the last few things—by the time he turned up we had carried our wine glasses, our bread plates and the small carafes over ourselves , as we were taken aback that the staff standing around weren’t doing a thing. Our waiter moved our water glasses and the bread basket . This whole fiasco rather unacceptable, I thought. I’ve worked in the in restaurant industry and even though at a place not quite as nice as Henrietta’s, we knew how to quickly resolve a problem like this without it taking 15+ minutes to do. We were out for a nice evening , a treat for our very elderly (86 years old)friend , and it was a huge embarrassment for us.
I have been here a few times in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed every meal. This time, my girlfriend and I wanted to check out their brunch buffet offered only on Sundays from noon to 3pm. In short, the buffet was spectacular. There were so many dishes for you to eat as much as your heart desires, including terrines, pates, lox and other cured fish, large shrimp cocktail, raw half-shell oysters, pastries, salads, eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, prime rib, and made-to-order omelets. We are big fans of oysters, and we definitely got our fill on those. While they were not freshly shucked (who are we kidding), they were great in quality and tray was refilled as soon as it was half-empty. There were also desserts including fruits, mini fruit tarts, cakes, and bread pudding. Everything we ate was delicious and after having experienced it, I think $55 per person is a bargain. I recommend you to check it out if you are a big eater and love brunch food!
The service was a bit slow, but still professional and friendly, when it got busy. This seems to be a bit of a power lunch place for the local college as there were lots of tweed jackets at several tables. The price might, perhaps, be out of the range of a typical student. However, both my daughter and I enjoyed our sandwiches. The location is very convenient, and a respite, to the hustle bustle of Harvard Square.
My daughter and I have been here many times in the four years of her college scouting and attendance in the Boston area. We walked over the bridge from Bostonnto Cambridge to eat at Henrietta’s Table, and it’s always worth it. Delicious, nice atmosphere (in the Charles Hotel), farm-to-table cuisine, great service: it’s everything we love in a restaurant!
Unfortunately, I no longer remember the specific name of the salad I ordered for lunch, was a salad with tofu, and it was delicious. There were a variety of seasonings, a strong and pleasant touch of orange, and a perfect blending of different salad components. I recommend it for a perfectly balanced and healthy lunch. The servers are attentive, but unobtrusive and the setting, looking out onto the terrace, is perfect during daylight hours. The soon-to-appear holiday lighting will also make it even better in the evening. I recommend Henrietta's Table without hesitation. I have been there many times and have never had a bad meal.
As an added bonus: the tables are far enough apart to make private conversations truly private.
$55 per person for brunch just not worth it. Includes juice and coffee but not specialty coffee. $2 off parking a further insult.
Food was good but not excellent. Buffet food could have been hotter.
Several plates and glasses were dirty.
Service was great one minute then disappeared the next.
Very nice farm to table restaurant with open kitchen to watch them preparing our food. I had one of the best salads and I have a lot of food allergies and it was easy to order even with all my restrictions. All the others really enjoyed their sandwiches. Can’t wait to go back the next time we are in town.
I go to Henrietta's Table fairly frequently, usually before a show at the Regatta Bar and may be just getting bored with it. It seems to me that the food is becoming less interesting and less carefully prepared, while getting more expensive. On my last visit, I had a fish dish that was a special and it was OK but certainly a delicious $26 entree. The fish was good but slightly overcooked and the sauces and other components of the dish just did not meld into a satisfying meal. The crab cakes were OK but not wonderful. The staff were great; very helpful and able to get us to the show ontime.
We came for my birthday and there was something for everyone. We loved the raw bar. My son has a nut allergy and the chef took him through the brunch buffet and alerted him to any unsafe foods. Everyone had a fabulous time, we will return best brunch we have been to.
Food was creative. 21st Century Tofu was fantastic. Never had anything like it.
Only trouble was the food and wine took a while to come once the out of this world smoked salmon appetizer arrived.
Just too hard to find servers these days. I understand.
Also I had to ask to make sure they did not charge us a plate split for an appetizer.
All in al we will be back many more times!
We were seated at a table close to the kitchen area and across from station where bills were handled. I immediately told our waitress we were going to a play and needed to leave by a certain time. The salads came out quickly our entrees took 45 minutes to appear, leaving us a short time to finish dinner. I've mainly been there for breakfast but think I'm now done with Henrietta's Table.
