Hennen's Ratings and Reviews
Was worried that it would be on the tourist-y side, being so close to the Aquarium, but very pleasantly surprised. One of the best steaks I’ve had in a while. Service was outstanding, as was the wine and price. Great balance of restaurant noise and intimacy. The wine room as the dining room centerpiece is charming and adds a nice level of bustle to the otherwise quiet dining room.
First time and it was spectacular! Riley was our server and she was outstanding!! Food was incredible and we feel very reasonably priced. Warm bread pudding and awesome cup of coffee capped off the night and was the best dessert EVER! We will absolutely be going back again.
Great food and service. Lovely place and enthusiastic servers.
The booth was rather tight. An overweight person wouldn’t be able to sit comfortably. The bench seemed to have a spring sprung but I sat on my folded coat and was fine. Next time I’ll request a table.
Our first time to visit Hennen’s. Read their reviews and thought it would be a great choice for my wife and to have a great meal on New Years Eve. WOW! We were really happy with the food and the service. My wife loved the Stone Seared Salmon and my Ribeye was perfect! What a way to begin a great evening of celebration! (Our server, Shelby, was so delightful and timely). We will definitely be back again. We live just south of the border (GA) and couldn’t believe we hadn’t heard of Hennen’s from any of our friends! Found it online and WHAT A FIND!!
It’s never fun to be seated near the front door on a chilly evening, especially when there are other empty tables throughout the restaurant. The server was friendly, but not polished or what I would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. The food was good, nothing special. There are other steak restaurants in town that I prefer.
We have been here 4 times this was by far the most unimpressive visit. The waiter was nice, but it took 20 minutes to get our order. The 2 split ribeye steaks were over cooked, both were ordered med well and they were practically cajun, my salmon was good but the risotto beneath it was chilled like it came from the refrigerator. My granddaughter loved he baked potato. Previous visits have been 5 star, steaks cooked perfectly, served at appropriate temperatures. We bragged on this place to our son who was on leave for the holidays, telling him how wonderful their food was. He was very much unimpressed, said Logan’s did a better job last week, and I sadly have to agree. Didn’t try their wines but I’m sure they were great. We won’t be back for a while after tonight’s dinner.
Food was average at best, steak came out over cooked and warm but not hot. My wife ordered the special, the mahi and it was luke warm and potatoes had obviously been sitting for quite some time and were terrible, which was sent back. They came back with a much butter meal the second time, however didn’t even comp as much as a desert. Overall bad value, and didn’t meet our expectation. Won’t be going back.
Excellent food and service. The waiter, Gus, was attentive, knowledgeable, and engaging. The wine and liquor selections are extensive and reasonably priced. The food was caked to perfection and was hot when brought to the table. The wait staff is willing to help each other with either bringing food out or clearing your table. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Hennen's has been a local restaurant for many years and from what we experienced, it will remain so. A friend was in town from California and asked me to choose a place to eat, so I chose Hennen's. Our server was attentive and made us feel she had a personal interest in our well-being. The food was prepared well, and as a wine connoisseur, we found the wine list impressive. He had the rib-eye, I had the filet and both were cooked perfectly. For an alternative to Ruth's Chris, you won't be disappointed in Hennen's.
I’m sorry to say this but the food was mediocre at best. My husband ordered a ribeye cooked medium rare. It was cooked properly but was very tough almost like it had been frozen before. I had the crab stuffed salmon which was way over cooked and had an over powering presence of pimento. That’s all I could taste. I would have complained but the waitress didn’t check back for several minutes. The homemade ranch was delicious. Overall, I was disappointed because this restaurant had such great reviews.
Old outdated menu ...steak was tough and chewy, overpaid for meal.
Carpet, fixtures and furniture need replacement. Bathrooms dirty and need updates too
Ownership must feel they have no competition in Chattanooga and it shows
Waitress was sweet and kind, very genuine and pleasant! Provided us with free dessert, which ended up being the best part of the meal and was much appreciated!
The restaurant looks "plain" from the outside but what is inside is far from plain. Service is attentive but not obtrusive. Food is well prepared, well-presented and very good. Wine list is not massive but the cellar has anything you might want from a simple glass of white wine for a cocktail to an excellent French or American wine for a very special occasion.
This was my second time at Hennens. I knew I’d be back, this time with a date. The atmosphere is perfect for casual conversation. The service is beyond exceptional. Naturally the food is beyond words can describe. This has become my favorite go-to spot for special occasions.
The service was excellent. After we ordered server recommended several wines to accompany our food (and allowed us to sample a few before making a final decision). Her recommendation enhanced the meal. I had a perfectly prepared NY strip while my wife’s duck was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant
We were traveling. Decided to get steak and this was an option. Easy to book and convenient to our hotel. The minute we walked in, I noticed this place smelled like a steak house. High level, not overwhelming, just good restaurant smell. Then came the two most delightful young folks to wait on us. Obviously a pro and a trainee, but really not so. Tarah, and the other young woman, were very engaging with us, personable and friendly. Because it wasn’t busy, we had time to share and they left us with a wonderful impression of Chattanooga, the restaurant and themselves. Got to mark it up as one of my finest steakhouse experiences in 64 years. It’s about the people, that make the experience. I’ll never forget this place and will be back again.
Food was great. Service was okay.. the host told us that we didn't have reservations although I made them on OpenTable.. someone else had to help him find our name. That was almost a disaster. I would suggest that if you are dining with friends and there will be laughter and good conversation, ask to be in the main dining room. We were evidently in the quiet, romantic area so it seemed as if we were disturbing the lovebugs around us. Waitress was nice.. because of the special occasion it ended up being a great dinner with friends.
