Hendrick's Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Every time I go there, it's awesome! We tried the white pizza last night - OMG! MUST HAVE! (Get one to share for the table - appetizer)
And if you really want to blow your diet - the sticky bun is out of this world. Shrimp cocktail was delish and so was the octopus. The staff was beyond friendly and it just has a very pleasant atmosphere.
I go there often and will continue to - it's my new gem!
I particularly do not bother with a negative review, but I am still feeling disappointment after being there over two days ago! The only reservation time was 5:30pm. It was early, but we took it because the restaurant looked nice and we wanted to eat in Roslyn. The place was totally empty. The waiter took our drink order and then food order. We asked for a wine list and he brought it. What happened next was so quick we did not even know what was happening. My fiancé and I went out for a nice romantic dinner to enjoy. The appetizer was in front of us (seafood tower) without serving utensils so we ate from the tower with our own forks (that included scooping the crab salad into our own plates). We enjoyed our drink and wanted to order a bottle of wine to sit and relax and enjoy dinner. The next thing we know the entree was in front of us before we finished the appetizer! We looked at our plates which were bare because the waiter never asked us if we wanted side dishes with our meal. We had to get the busboy to get the waiter to come to the table so we could order side dishes to have with our meal. While they did come quick, the next thing we know the waiter comes and asks if we want dessert. The restaurant was filling up, but was at least still 70% empty. We were there for about 40 minutes at this point. We ended up with sorbet and then realized we were getting the check. We never got to order our bottle of wine, enjoy the atmosphere and each other's company. One drink each, a small seafood tower appetizer, two entrees and 3 sides and a sorbet...$292.00 was the bill... we never got to enjoy a bit of it and were out the door in under an hour. We were dumbfounded as we left and can honestly say that the service, food and experience were not worth $300 to say the least. We felt like we were rushed out the door because there was a dinner crowd coming and we were treated like 2nd class patrons.
Have enjoyed Hendrick’s in the past, but had some repeat issues - car valet, receptionist and noise level. Car valet improved but neither receptionist nor noise level is improved. The noise - they have frequent large parties for special occasions and they need better noise isolation to the main dining room.
Receptionist seems confused, always. The greeting seems to be intended to keep you from talking to her, cannot multi-task, and again did not propetly confirm my Open Table reservation - I want those points!
Brunch - bloody mary good, ricotta pancakes were fine, chicken apple sausage unevenly cooked, huevos rancheros were dry and heavily tasting of iron from the iron skillet, bacon very crispy.
Here’s the very disappointing part - although we tried to slow down service, we were in and out in under 40 minutes .... do they really need to turn over the tables that quickly? I felt like I was in a diner instead of a nicer restaurant.
I think we’re looking for alternatives ... oh well.
the service was not good since our waiter was in another section and was given our lone table. the appetizer was cold and had to send it back . that took a very long tine . Our waiter came back finally to ask us how it was and we told him we had to send it back through another waiter
Eh. That's all. Bartender seemed annoyed and very unattentive. Then, our group of six sat and waited about a half hour to order appetizers. Very disorganized. App was the best part of the very uninspired dinner. We're frequent foodies, and this was subpar. Not quite sure what all the fuss is about.
We encountered numerous issues. First, my wife’s Bloody Mary was so strong is was basically undrinkable. Second, we asked for a side of sausage that never came. Third, somehow my food came out reasonably warm, but my wife’s Eggs Benedict was cold. Both meals should take about the same amount of time to cook.
We let the Bloody Mary issue slide and should have mentioned it. Then once we both had issues with our food, we figured it was a lost cause. The waiter didn’t come back for 15 mins to check on us and we didn’t feel like saying anything at that point, because it would have taken even longer to get it fixed. Definitely will not return. This place is overpriced and overrated.
Our third time here and ALWAYS a great time. We have had the same waiter , Christian, and he was amazingly gracious and helpful. Menu is great, terrace is great. Just a wonderful experience. We will be back. Certainly always made to feel welcome and great meal!
Love this place!! I celebrate Mothers Day with my family each year. I went this weekend for a brunch with my husband, celebrating our Anniversary. We waited a bit for our drinks, I asked the manager when will we be getting our drinks, and they sped up the process. To my surprise the manager took the two drinks off our bill. Great Service and amazing BRUNCH!
We celebrated a special birthday at Hendrick's Tavern and it was wonderful. The ambiance was elegant and warm and we couldn't have picked a better restaurant for our special occasion. The food was superb. We all had steaks and shared the grilled octopus and roasted bone marrow to start. The value for the quality of the steaks was great, compared to other steakhouses. We will definitely be back again and again.
Thank you, Hendrick's Tavern!
I can't figure out if it wants to be a casual pub or a mid-range steak house. There is certainly plenty of meat, and the strict separation of protein from side vegetables - but then the menu includes small pizzas and other pub-y fare. The food was all properly cooked - but ultimately a bit dull and tasteless. The most flavorful thing we had was the heirloom tomato salad. My soft shell crabs had a great mouth feel, but no pop of flavor you should have from a white wine garlic sauce.
The wine list had some reasonable values, but was too long on American reds and short on most other things.
