Hendricks BBQ Ratings and Reviews
I was very disappointed in the side dishes and desert. The brisket was very good, but the corn casserole and the fried potatoes were very ordinary at best. We had apple pie and it was not very good at all. Too much crust some of which wasn't done and very few apples
We went for a family Christmas Eve dinner and had reservations for 6:30. Upon arriving the place was very empty with only 2-3 other tables. Service was very poor and food was slow (and cold) coming out despite the restaurant being empty. While we were eating we were left to be the only table there. The staff was sweeping and cleaning around us. We thought this was quite odd. After we got the bill (around 7:45) we asked if they were closing early. The waitress then informed us they had closed at 7. I’m not sure why i was allowed to make a reservation for 6:30 when they closed at 7. I wish they would have informed us upon seating. We would have chosen a different venue as this was a family holiday meal we normally would have ordered desserts and after dinner drinks. Instead we then felt bad and rushed out.
Where to begin... This was our 2nd experience here, which is the ONLY reason I would recommend this place, bc the first visit was the complete opposite. Had this visit been our first, we'd never return. Went for Christmas dinner, myself, husband, 7 month old, and in-laws. We arrived before the dinner crowd this evening. Sunday special is fried chicken, which both in-laws ordered, I got the pulled pork sandwich, my husband the brisket Philly. My in-laws asked to substitute sides and were told no substitutions allowed, ok fine. It says allow 15 minutes for fried chicken, understandable. 20 minutes after ordering we're told our food is ready, but the fried chicken has another 10 minutes...annoying, but whatever. They finally bring the food...fried chicken is hot, but no mashed potatoes because They "aren't ready" and "it'll just be a few minutes". Pulled pork is cold, like been sitting there for awhile cold, and brisket is fine bc husband will eat whatever you put in front of him. Sent the pork back to have it heated up and it returned with a sloppy, wet, disgusting, inedible bun. We ate slow, hoping for mashed potatoes to arrive, which they NEVER DID. If we can't substitute sides, at least BRING THE SIDES ITS SUPPOSED TO COME WITH. Our waitress is fantastic, she truly is. She is genuinely apologetic and seems embarrassed at the situation, but shouldn't be because we know it isn't her fault. Ask to speak with a manager. This guy comes along COULD NOT CARE LESS that the wait was way longer than expected, pulled pork sandwich is terrible and inedible, and STILL NO MASHED POTATOES. Worst of all he blames everyone else and gives an obligatory "sorry". He did take 20% off the check, which seems minimal since 75% of the order was incorrect. Terrible experience.
Overall, food was good. Good craft beer list. This is the second time we've eaten here and I would return again. Small detail is that the cheesy grits on the Sides menu is horrible. Tastes like it came prepared quickly from a box. Otherwise, everything else is very good.
The food was true southern comfort food. Great bar-b-que! We ordered the meat sampler with four sides and shared it. Also had the shrimp and grits. All was delicious. The service was great. We were seated inside but asked for an outside table and were readily accommodated. Great experience. We will definitely be back.
Girl's outing on Sun, Dec 3rd for the St. Charles Christmas Traditions. Thanks to Trip Advisor, I planned lunch here and it was a highlight of our dining experiences in St. Charles. We tried brisket, a brisket philly and pulled pork, as well as sides of sweet potato fries, macaroni, beans, fried potatoes and greens. Great sauces...we all had different favorites! All our food was fabulous and service superior. The building is ultra cool and we loved the décor. Seriously, we thought the chairs looked uncomfortable but all wished we had some at home. lol I will definitely be back and have already shared my experiences with my Facebook friends! Thanks Hendrick's for knocking it out of the ballpark!
There were large amounts of food on the “clean” plates we were given for appetizers. (Enough food that I could tell the previous diner had nachos)) When we told the server he acted as if that was not unusual, and he was very indifferent. The second set had food on them again, not as much, but still there was food. I fully realize that these things happen in restaurants, but the indifference was the real issue. The server also brought my husband the wrong beer. He checked on us maybe one time. We used to eat here quite a bit, but the quality of food has also gone down. We will not be back.
Our overall experience for 8 people was very poor the service was extremely slow and most of all as a group our food was incorrect for 3 people and all the food came out warm at best, you might even call it cold and dry. For the money it was very poor we have been there on several occasions and at this time we are not even sure if we would return.
Seated immediately! Yeah....Food was wonderful...waiter was very attentive but not over the top!....but noise level a little too much for enjoying a nice conversation with friends. Would go again because the ribs, pulled pork, baked beans, nachos were all wonderful.
Waitress was wonderful! 😀The food tasted good but not alot for your money!
I got the 7oz of turkey...was 3 small pieces without sides.....and $7.00!!!
The location & atmosphere was good too!
Not even free bread basket!!!!!
Bandannas is just as good and you get alot more for your money!☺👍
When we arrived the girl at the desk did not know how to set up the computer since she was from the evening shift. We were there on a Sunday at 11:00 October 8. We stood there while she was getting frustrated- several other servers came up but no one tried to address the fact we have been standing there waiting - the girl was totally frustrated by then - she kept telling us her frustration and none of the other servers helped . The place was empty!!! Why couldn’t she just sit us at a table and work around the problem rather then venting to us? Finally after 20 min we were sat up in the bar area - the barbecue sauce bottles were filthy and there was a silver fish bug on one of our bottles - u could tell they were not wiped down the night before.
We dined outside on the back deck which was very nice. Indoors the noise level was pretty high. Love the location on main street. We walked down the street for ice cream after dinner. Had the brisket and pulled pork which were both good. Disappointed in the barbecue sauces which were kind of runny and not great flavor. Definitely had better sauces at other barbecue places. The biggest disappointment was probably the size of some of the side dishes which they call Fixin's. In particular the fried potatoes was about 1/4 of what I I would have expected. I really liked the slaw and the portion there was more generous. The meat portions were generous.
Being from Ohio I was only vaguely familiar with Old Town St. Charles. I liked your web site and the ease of making a reservation on line. You have a good selection of beer, enjoyed the ribs. My brothers and sister-in-law said the beef brisket was slightly dry, my wife liked the turkey. We drove to St. Charles because my son had an invitation to listen to Stephen King. On a future trip to St. Louis I plan to return to your restaurant.
We had the nachos. The ambiance is wonderful. This is a place we will take our children. The BBQ is really good. We enjoyed the ribs, turkey and pork. The brisket is good as well but better at other places. Overall we will be back again.
Food was good as expected. Service was less than expected. Server was trying to work people inside and outside and it wasn't working. We wanted to get a half turkey half brisket sandwich but they would not oblige. We ended up ordering one sandwich of each and fixing it on our plate.
Great food! We live in the area and had just had the opportunity to try this establishment out. My wife and I ordered the whole Shebang option, which gives a generous sample of the different meats that they offer. The brisket was by far my favorite. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised that the turkey was moist and tender. Often times (as we all know) turkey breast is hard to cook without 'drying' out; the turkey breast at Hendricks was still moist and tender!
The only reason that I didn't give Hendricks a full 5 star rating is because the prices are a bit high. I understand that having the extra care and attention by the staff to ensure that everything is made from scratch causes more work for them, but for some of the side dishes to be anywhere from $5-$7 for one serving is a bit steep.
We will definitely return in the future for a special treat for our family because the food is genuine and they have great options with wonderful flavor :-)
The food was okay, nothing special. I expected the sauces to have a better flavor. The service was pretty bad. The waitress kept forgetting things, we didn't get our alcoholic drinks until we were almost done eating, and various other little things. It was not the best experience.
This place is usually amazing. I took a client here for a business dinner and our waitress was sub par. We got our appetizers before we got our dinks and she had to go to the bar at least 5 times before she could tell us if they had the different alcohols my guests were wanting. Our food took a long time and it was SO salty I had to send it back. Once we got our food, our waitress never came back to our table. We all had asked for waters to drink and never got them. I asked for a manager and he could of cared less about our experience. Not so sure I could recommend this establishment now.
