Hemenway's Ratings and Reviews
Drinks were great. Service was great. Noise level was too loud and so was the music. People had to yell over the music. Not for a romantic dinner out.
Clams Casino was terrible. Just breads crumbs over clams. Have had better elsewhere. Lobster was outrageous at $30.00 a pound. Ordered 2 lbs and it looked like a pound and a quarter. Was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Skipped dessert.
We tried Hemenway’s for the first time. We anticipated a fine experience. We were not disappointed. As a matter of fact, our expectations were exceeded. Of course, the food was prepared perfectly, plated artistically, and delivered with a touch of competent class. We can’t speak too highly of this restaurant and we plan to return soon.
Our experience at Hemenways was as always spectacular. We got the drink special, a strawberry Bellini with scallops wrapped in bacon to start. Both of those I would recommend to anyone. We follows this with the swordfish with Hollaindaise sauce special that they actually run every night and it is easily the best seafood dish I’ve ever eaten. Our server was super attentive and I never had to wait for anything, he was right there. I would recommend Hemenways to anyone and would definitely come again.
Fresh seafood, great martinis, a creative twist on classics, and fabulous service will ensure a return trip to Hemenway's. The RI-style calamari is fantastic, entrees were perfectly cooked and delicious, and the desserts were equally amazing. We were not rushed at any point, but enjoyed the fact that our food was delivered promptly. I highly recommend Hemenway's!
My friends an I met for dinner prior to seeing a show at PPAC. We checked in at the desk and were seated immediately, which was nice. Our waitress, Diane, was very accommodating, we explained we had to be out by a certain time in order to make the show.
Our drinks and dinners were delicious!
I would say, our experience at Heminway’s was overall, a positive one on all levels....and we arrived just in time for the show! 👍
Food, service and atmosphere consistently excellent. Jayson was, as usual, attentive, friendly and professional. We are always happy when he arrives at our table, knowing he works about 3 shifts per week. Our good fortune, I guess.
We will return. Thank you!
Ate at Hemenway's earlier this week and the meal was great! I have porbably eaten here 50 times over the last 4 years and the food and service is always excellent which is why I continue to come here. I had the spare rib appetizer which was four ribs and the flavors were perfect. The table also ordered the seasood platter as an app. The others cleaned that platter and raved about the seasfood. For dinner I had the filet mignon with parmesan fries and asparagus. Filet was tender and perfectly cooked as ordered, medium. While this restaurant is known for its seafood especially lobster by the pound, I don't eat seafood and always find a delicous meal on the menu or special.
This time, there was a special stout beer that was bottled specifically for Hemenway's which was awesome.
The food is always good, three of our party ordered the restaurant week fixed price dinner & dessert and were all happy with their respective choices. The service was superlative as usual, and we all had a very enjoyable evening. Over the years, this is one of the restaurants in Providence that I frequently take family from out of town and also clients to, as the seafood choices are always a hit for either lunch or dinner.
We took the menu from the providence restaurant week. Unfortunately the starter as well as the main course was almost cold. We complained and only after asking about their feedback they apologized. They didn’t charge for the beer as compensation.
As this happened to both courses we had the impression the special menu was somehow precooked. This shouldn’t happen at one of the best restaurants in the city.
Visited during Restaurant Week and had an excellent meal. I have heard great thing and I wasn't disappointed. I started with the Braised Short Ribs Gnocchi app. The Gnocchi were excellent and the shredded Short Rib had great flavor.
For the entree I had the Roasted Monk Fish, I think it is a RW special, with Lobster and saffron broth, Mussels roasted potatoes and cauliflower. The entire plate was great. The Fish was flakey and flavorful, the broth (more of a sauce) was great and as a non-fan if cauliflower, I was blown away by the Roasted Cauliflower (maybe I'm a fan now). My wife got the Pot Roast (regular menu item). The Roast was outstanding and he accompanying vegetables (carrots, turnips and onions) were great. The Parsnip and Potato mash was at another level. There was a great sweetness at the end of each bite. Our server said the chef is very liberal with the butter (great idea) so I can only assume it was a sweet cream butter.
The dessert was on point. The flourless Chocolate Cake was delicious and the addition of the raspberry gelato was a nice surprise. My wife's Lemon Pudding Cake with Coconut gelato hit the spot.
