Another great dinner at Helsinki Hudson. It’s a favorite spot for us when we are in town. Food is consistently excellent and the menu changes often. I had soft shell crab and hubby had the grilled fish. I love that they offer Nine Pin Ginger Cider & my husband loves their beer selection. Service is friendly and professional and the dining room is just so welcoming and comfortable.
we absolutely loved the vibe of this place, but the food was disappointing given the description. it was solid typical bbq food, but nothing special (where does the "Helsinki" part come in?). would go again with a big group, and share plates -- one dish is way too much for one person.
Really great seafood.
For what it is, basically a BBQ joint and a music venue, the food and service are both excellent. The ribs are worth a trip! If you care about the source of your food this place is for you (as it is for me). They leverage local farms as much as possible.
Amazing ambiance, friendly staff and amazing food!
Such a loving and family arm aesthetic. Our waiter Jon was such a doll! The food was so fresh and comforting. Totally worth the trip and the time! Best ending to a great Saturday night!
Not an extensive menu but fantastic food! Delicious cocktails. Very nice service in an historic stmosphere
I was so pleased with our meals at Helsinki Hudson. We went prior to a (amazing!) show at the Club. The service was friendly and efficient. The meals were flawless. Not one complaint.
Because our group of 7 trickled in, service was a little off (waiting for people, etc). However, the food and drinks were incredible as usual. i always find myself trying things way outside my comfort zone at Helsinki, and I don't think I've been disappointed. It was quite loud for the day after Christmas, but then again, so are we! Most of us got the burger and we devoured them. Come for the drinks, stay for the food! Everyone loved the collard greens, The smoked shrimp pate was to die for!
We had a wonderful quiet evening. The drinks were very good and my wife and I each had the steak entree. We both agreed that it was one of the best steaks we have had in a long time.
We went here for a getaway weekend for our one year anniversary. The food and atmosphere were romantic and special for the occasion!
Sunday night dinner.
Tuna appetizer was not sushi grade.
Mussels in appetizer were way too small.
Catfish entre was excellent as were sides and cucumber salad.
Helsinki NEVER disappoints. By far, the best place in town. Great for out of town guests!
We loved the place, the food and the ambiance, but service was a bit slow (they had a big party upstairs)
we called 3x to confirm our booth-got there, no booth and they could have cared less. waitress so busy she barely could get to us let alone do another round. Some of the food strange-hash browns disgusting. ribs passable. should tell people fish is bone in!!! never again.
Food was good and service was outstanding but the wedding party going on upstairs was loud and took away from the ambiance of the place.
We had a great experience at Helsinki. Seating was perfect, and Kate, our server, was excellent. My husband had the escarole and peaches salad and BBQ ribs and it was all so very good. I had the red snapper special, and although I don't particularly like looking at a fish head while I'm eating, it was delicious. The portions are generous and the peach dessert was lucious. I don't eat dessert but the Peony Vodka 'Farmer's Day Off' cocktail was perfect! It's about a 40 minute drive for us, but we plan on going again soon!
Food was superb
Table was a little odd . - 2 top perpendicular & adjacent to a couch with (2) twos. Too close
Service tends to be quick-
We've wanted to get to Club Helsinki for quite a while, since we've heard so many good things about it! Glad to say we were not disappointed! We were only able to get general admission tickets since we applied so late. Not a problem! We ate in the restaurant which was wonderful, and got close enough to the band in the club, to almost touch them. Fine dining, great music, good acoustics, friendly crowd, all around great experience. Would like to get reserved tickets next time so advise to jump on an occasion as soon as possible! Don't miss a chance to see your favorite group and get to the restaurant, you won't regret it!
In the center of Hudson, 1 block from main drag. On street parking. Large rustic dining room. Full bar. We came at 8pm on a weekday so no crowd. Robbed ribs were tender well done juicy. 3 sauces, one spicy, my best choice. Wife had shrimp and grits. Big shrimp. More food than we could eat. Id go again for the BBQ. 2 drinks and dinner for &50.
New to the area and wanted a new "foodie experience" we were excited to see the beauty in the building. Emily was a fabulous server. She told us the chef and restaurants story and gave us a tour of the music venue side of the restaurant. We will be back.
We always love the creative menu, great atmosphere and delicious food at Club Helsinki. Midweek it's perfect for a quiet get-together, the weekends are fun and lively. Chef Horner chooses his farm and food sources carefully - and it shows. The interior design (repurposed bus depot!) and thoughtful decor are always delightful. So happy Helsinki is in Hudson!
Great BBQ, service, ambience!!!
All around a beautiful experience !
Very fresh and authentic Southern food with an upscale presentation. Food was delicious, sevice was excellent and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Lots of good choices on the menu and at the bar. We traveled an hour but it was worth it!
Helsinki is one of my favorite neighborhood places in Hudson. Locally grown produce is imaginatively used by the chef. The building is an old factory with cool embellishments. In summer they put up an outdoor tented dining area as well. The bar serves interesting mixes and is a happening place
Between the three of us we had the blackened catfish, a burger and meatloaf sandwich as well as a bunch of sides. The food was very good. Fun and comfortable atmosphere too.
First time here & was very impressed. Tried a few different dishes & everything was great.
The ribs and the Brisket were recommended to us but were very very dry and overcooked
(1) Beautifully restored and updated turn-of-the-century brick factory building. (2) Service was decent and about the norm in the region, provided by young female staff that don't quite take the work as seriously as they perhaps should. (3) Food was not awful. The servings were huge. The "famous" shrimp and grits was served in a large cast iron skillet filled with a mountain of heavy grits, topped with green and red peppers in a gooey tasteless sauce, and five or six good-sized shrimp that tasted of... nothing. Really not worth eating. My companion had three pieces of very good fried chicken, with very poorly done sides (I think Swiss chard or collard greens and fries; the former was gross.) We ordered a field greens salad to share, and it, too, was left largely untouched. (4) Bottom line: go there for the atmosphere, the band (maybe), or a drink at the bar. Do not got for the food. I won't, again.
Although I have known of Helsinki for it's night club, this was the first time I had dinner there. The uniqueness of the atmosphere and incredible attention to us by the staff was so excellent I am aching to go back with others who have not been there yet, and blow their minds too.
Excellent fresh fish. Friendly service. Lots of atmosphere.
Poor service diminished our experience. Our waiter must have had too many tables. Oysters had such a heavy pimento sauce you'd never know there were oysters in there. Scallop dish had four small scallops. Shrimp and grits dish was pretty good. Ribs were very tender but both choices had glaze that was too sweet for my taste. The manager/owner was uninterested in feedback. There are better choices in town.
Went with a party of 7. We will did a lot of sharing and all enjoyed the food. Loved the margaritas and the bourbon Smash too! Go! You won't be disappointed!
beautifully designed, lots of space between tables, attentive service, great food - don't hesitate to include it in your Hudson dining plans
Really beautiful space and vibe, great food and music next door, all the staff were absolutely lovely, what more could you ask for?
Helsinki menus change regularly––this may be my sixth or seventh visit over time. The current menu (bar-b-q + fried fish) did not appeal greatly. But the hardest problem for our group was that special food issues (two of four allergic to garlic and onion) could not properly be accommodated. Everything came in the form it was described––well, ok, the portions are pre-set and the ingredients determined....but no possibility for a simple piece of chicken? (The only secure choice was steak, not everyone's choice.) A song-and-dance about the sauces to be put on the food (when 2 of the four in the party had already said they couldn't eat garlic or onion)––perhaps labels should be put on the sauces? Helsinki offers interesting food choices and I have memories of really great menus. For me––for our group––this is not up to the usual standard.
Beautiful decor and ambiance. Menu is intriguing and barbecue is great. Loved the background music and artwork
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! The southern style food was very well done, layers of flavor, sides were top notch! Despite the 45 minute drive from Niskayuna, we will head back as often as is practical!
Wow!!! What a great meal! My wife and I were very pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere! Can't wait to get back and dine here again!!!
The team at HH were amazing! We got stuck in traffic leaving the city and called to push our reservation back to 9:30, we arrived at 9:40 and the kitchen is listed as closing at 10ish. They had waited for us and no one rushed us to order a thing, despite us being their last dining reservation. Service was delightful, food was indulgent and spectacular and the ambience was so cozy for a snowy, winters night. Wish we could come more often!
