Helga's is our favorite German resturant, we will be returning at the end of the month for my husband's birthday with family & friends.
Food was excellent. Took a little while to get the food, so an appetizer might be worth getting, but once we got the food it was easy to tell why it took so long. Atmosphere was fun. Service was great.
Food was pretty authentic, and was a nice change of pace from the normal cuisine in Denver area . Was not as PUB'ish as expected, nor as "German" as we anticipated it would be, both in ambience and décor. Interesting beer selection, and some wines from Europe that are unusual for Denver area. Friendly waiter who was attentive. Would try again, perhaps for lunch, as that was a recommendation.
This is the second time we’ve been to Helga’s in the past several months. Both times, Austin has been our waiter and he’s done a great job. There were six of us and we shared the beer sampler for two. It was fun tasting and rating the beers. The food was excellent and we will definitely go back again.
I love this place! After having lived in Germany for awhile, it is so nice to have a restaurant close by that feels and tastes like Germany! Thanks, Helga and family -
Unfortunately management misjudged the turnout for the day after Christmas and staffing was inadequate. The kitchen ran out of some sides and substituted yams (sweet potatoes) without asking the patron. The hostess was filling water glasses, bussing tables, fielding and reacting to requests from patrons while the wait staff, presumably stretched thin, were infrequently seen.
On the plus side, the food was authentic, and tasty, the hostess was athletic and our waitress was able to diplomatically take care of an issue one of our party had with her lamb chops.
This was our first visit to the new location. We will return again to see if the understaffing was a peculiarity of the day after Christmas.
I expected more from this restaurant from the reviews that I read. The kitchen was slow. The food tasted reheated. It was nothing worth paying extra to visit. The waitstaff was nice and prompt. They salvaged an overall disappointing experience and dinner.
Helga's was great as always. I have been there several times. Real German food and beer.
WE had reservations for 3:30 PM on Friday. Was great beat the rush and the food and service was great. This was our first time and it was a 45 minute drive but well worth it.
We will return all 4 of us!
Great place to learn about German food. Deli well stocked.
Really not impressed. The schnitzel was dull, brown sauce tasted like it came from a jar and cabbage was slimy. Cherry strudel was uneventful. We won't make the drive again, not worth it.
Fantastic original German food well prepared. Great list of German beers on tap. Kids menu. Uumpa band on last Friday of the month. Always crowded then. Great place to go to have a fun or different meal out of the usual.
Had a super noisy table of about 8 people behind us. Very loud atmosphere, but the food was absolutely delicious and great wait staff.
Great food and service I was a little disappointed they didn't offer klöse as a side dish it would have been great with the Sauerbraten.
We had a wonderful time at Helga's. The food was authentic German and was delicious. We enjoyed the beer sampler and were hard pressed to pick a favorite because they were all so good! The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. We will definitely go back. We also ordered food from Helga's for an Oktoberfest party that we hosted and the guests were blown away by the food. Thank you Helga's for making our party exceptional!
Perfect German food. We were hungry for German comfort food. We found a great restaurant! Live in Broomfield. Worth the drive. Will diffently come back. Staff super friendly.
Pork Schnitzel was excellent and what I expected. Tried the Malt Bier which didn't have much of a flavor to it.
Service was great. Overall the food was very good. Beer selection is good.
You like German food and beer? Then you found an authentic German chalet worthy of any drive you need to make.
First visit. The food was very good and definitely filling -- almost too much! One could make a meal out of the appetizer and soup course, which was goulash, but then the entree would be missed!
Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. He was also well-mannered, which was a nice touch.
It is a keeper! We will come back.
The food at Helgas is the usual, fantastic! There is no place like this for great German food. The night we visited there was an accordion player playing an appropriate style of music who was great. Shortly thereafter was an Elvis impersonator. No offense, but this was completely out of place and not very enjoyable to listen too. The volume rose to a point we could hear one another and we left. I will certainly be returning to Helgas but I will watch out so I don't have to listen to "entertainment" like that again.
Jaeger sauce was not creamy and had whoke nushrooms rsther than sliced.
Great German cuisine. Waitstaff helpful and friendly. Casual and comfortable. Enjoyed the live music on a Friday night.
We loved the food! Service was wonderful. The best German food in Aurora bar none.
As usual the food was great! Our waitress Crystal was extremely attentive, great job Herb!
We went to Helga's with out of town family. Started out with pretzels and a platter of German beers. The beers were very good and the pretzels were great. When we ordered the service was extremely slow. It took 1 1/2 hours to get our food. At one point we didn't see our waitress for 25 minutes. We have been to Helgas a number of times and it is always slow. This was ridiculous. The food was ok. Overall we were disappointed with the experience.
What a great German dinner. It was our first time.Authentic German food.Yum.
We have eaten at Helga's on may occasions. The food is consistently delicious, and the wait staff is friendly. I would and do recommend this restaurant.
Had expected something more European and was somewhat dissatisfied. Food was okay but wouldn't drive the distance again to go there.
Helgas served authentic German cuisine, nothing fancy, but good selections of usual German fare. The German beer selection was great, and the atmosphere is appropriate for the theme. We had a great dinner and will be returning when we are in the area. The schnitzel, spaetzli and sauerkraut were all great, like being in Germany.
Been going here for years and they have never let us down. Highly recommend it to everyone.
Have been to Helga's several times now. I grew up with grandparents cooking German food. This is the real deal!
We've been going to Helgas for generations. My Germany mother approved and we all love the food.
Birthday dinner with family and friends.
everything was great except the accordian music made it difficult to hear. the musician was awesome though.
Colorado host Oktoberfest statewide. Generally the local enthusiast enjoys moderate ethnic German food for a few weeks.
This is a wonderful authentic German Experience! I was extremely pleased to visit this fun dining and musical experience. Worth the drive.
Not many German restaurants in Denver. This one is for real! Deli, too, so you can take some home.
We live 8 hours away but visit this area a few times a year. We ate here w/ friends & family a couple of years ago. We wanted a fun & tasty meal for our dating anniversary so we made a repeat visit w/ our daughter & son-in-law . Still great service & wonderful German food!
Wanted to have some curry wurst and Helga's has the real deal. My wife had a great Reuben for her lunch. Server was friendly and attentive. Decor was comfortably "German". Took some streudel home that was made on-site and delicious. It was our first time but I'm thinking we will drive up there monthly or so. Their menu and the food coming out of the kitchen invites more visits.
We enjoyed the authentic German atmosphere and food. One of the best German restaurants we experienced in the US.
