Heirloom Restaurant is the product of Chef Clark Barlowe's North Carolina farm community upbringing and years of global travel. All ingredients that are brought in to Heirloom come from NC farms or producers, prompting a style best described as: Locally Sourced, Globally Inspired. This style of farm to table dining at Heirloom extends far beyond simply the food. From the Cocktail list focused strictly on NC distilleries, the wine list made up completely of NC vintages, the beer list sourcing only local craft breweries from Charlotte and the surrounding area, to the house music supplied from NC artists, Heirloom is North Carolina's restaurant.
Excellant service and food! Very attentive to food allergies and accommodating so everyone xan enjoy the meal.
innovative dishes and an awesome tasting menu, this is a Charlotte experience!
Fabulous, locally sourced food and beverages!
I would definitely recommend eating here for a date night or for a larger celebration!
A charm of a restaurant with an incredible culinary Talent.
Had the tasting menu. Pros: the mushroom pasta and the pumpkin soup were scrumptious. Charcuterie was generous. Dinner rolls with special butter were a delightful surprise. Thoughtful service. Cons: Alcoholic drinks were weak. Had my hopes up for the chocolate dessert but dry. Ambiance: quiet, older crowd on a Saturday evening. A mix of kitschy yet elevated country decor. Men’s bathroom stall could use a coat of paint to cover inappropriate graffiti. Will try again...left wanting to try the cheesecake.
Amazing food. Stellar service. Cannot day enough good things about Heirloom. Took my 79 year old father here for the first time for his birthday last week and he felt they treated him like royalty. His experience alone was enough to make me love the restaurant if I didn’t already.
Every dish was SO creative. This was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. 5/5 will recommend Heirloom to friends.
This was our first time here - We had driven past it a million times - have seen Groupon discounts for the tasting menu - Decided it's time we should go and it was fabulous! The chef/owner Clark - waited on us - We started out with the cheese and meat appetizer which was fantastic. Then - we had the raw oysters - delicious! Onto the main course with their famous fried chicken and mac-n-cheese - outstanding and the Rib-Eye with brussel sprouts and mashed potatos - also delicious! We finished with the Pumpkin Creme Brule and Pumpkin Cheesecake. A wonderful evening and we'll be back soon!!!
My group tried the tasting menu and also items from the regular menu. Even though 2 of us did not order the tasting menu, the waiter brought us a taste of what the other diners were eating. Very nice of him.
The food was very good.
For the price the food was just okay. The crab cakes were a good but a little bready. They were served on corn and green beans that were bland and did not taste fresh. My daughter in law loved the fried chicken and mac and cheese. My daughter had shrimp and grits and was not impressed with the kale that was between the shrimp and grits. My son was please with his yellowfin tuna. Did not like the corn bread and honey but that could just be a personal preference of the kind of corn bread that was used. I like the concept of this restaurant : farm to table but for the price for 4 people - 182 with tip - I expect a little better food.
While I love the concept of farm to table, I find the Southern food bent here to be less than healthy. I was thrilled to see hen of the woods mushrooms on the menu but was so disappointed to get them battered and deep fried. My husband ordered the ravioli and he said it was way undercooked. The restaurant itself is so far from Charlotte and it was a cool night and AC was cranked up and produced a lot of uncomfortable wind. Not the best dining experience for us.
We stumbled upon Heirloom while looking for unique restaurants. We had dinner on a Friday night, and found the ambiance fabulous. It was very able for a table of six to have a conversation and to be heard. The concept of farm to fork in a North Carolina traditional preparation was excellent. As professed foodies, we will certainly return.
Great food, and so artfully done. Charlotte’s best-kept fine-dining secret!
So, so, so delicious. We had the fall menu. Memorable dishes and very attentive service!
The Restaurant food use all local ingredients. The food is excellent and the service is one of the best.
Good fresh food. Tough to understand the menu and drink options. I love farm to table restaurants and enjoy a unique menu but this was a bit excessive. Everything did taste very good and very fresh. I just felt that I may have chosen the wrong dish.
Heirloom continues to not disappoint! Always great service and food!
The service was excellent. Very friendly and accommodating of dietary concerns. We had a lovely evening
Heirloom is an outstanding farm-to-table experience. We highly recommend the chef's choice 6-course dinner. Enjoy!
Food has no flavor generally love farm to table venues. This one was disappointing
We had the tasting menu with the wine pairings and it was so amazingly good. Even wines I wouldn't normally like just went so well with the course.
I did not like much of my food. Great tomatoes were ruined with less than mediocre caviar. My duck was just bad. Nothing else is even memorable.
Love the farm to table food selections. The fried chicken was amazing!
Everything about Heirloom was amazing from the food to the servers.
We came for our 10th Anniversary, having heard good things but never been. We were worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype, but we did the Chef’s tasting dinner and it was every bit as good as we hoped, and more! We had a fantastic experience. Every course showed real creativity and they let the fresh ingredients shine. Great service as well. Couldn’t recommend it more!
Excellent service and ambiance. Food was great. I had dined in before and experienced the tasting menu; this time I ordered off the regular menu. The Lightning Cakes were amazing as was the mushroom mac n cheese. The fried chicken and Philly cheesesteak were both good but not as impressive. The peach pudding with homemade nilla wafers was very good as was our to-go chocolate chip cookie...yum!
Heirloom NEVER disappoints! Jason was on point, as was the rest of the staff! Food was DELISH! Thanks for a great night!
Had a reservation. But still waited for someone to even acknowledge us. At least 30 min before being allowed to order. Limited menu offered. Farm to table is great idea but not if you cannot provide full menu. Food was ok. But not for the price. Sweet tea was terrible. It’s just not that difficult to make...
My wife and I were really looking forward to eating at Heirloom. We had gone to a cooking competition that featured the chefs from Heirloom and were really impressed. Unfortunately our experience at Heirloom itself significantly underwhelmed. The flavor profiles were bland and unimaginative. The baklava we had for dessert was not edible. Our waiter service was awful. There was at least a 30 minute period of time after completing the main course before our server returned to check on us. And he didn’t even ask if we wanted dessert (which in hindsight we shouldn’t have). The value of our meal was significantly less than the 100+ dollars we spent. Bummed!
This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. They were completely unable to accommodate a vegan meal. When we expressed our unhappiness with the meal, a manager never came to our table to discuss. We drove from Concord and could have chosen to dine anywhere in Charlotte, sadly we chose Heirloom. We won't make that mistake again.
Great fresh nc food. Fantastic presentations of eight courses on tasting menu
Very happy place now on our favorites list
Good with Groupon also
The food was ok. Didn’t live up to the hype. The concept of all locally sourced ingredients is great, but the food was a bit bland and my duck was way overcooked.
We were here for Resturant week. And I’m in love.. Their chef is also a beekeeper so they have hives right on top of their roof. Fresh local honey. And it taste yummy.. customer service was great and food was awesome.
We attended for Restaurant week when a friend of mine was visiting from Seattle. I live near the area, but have never stopped by. The outside was very "rustic" looking and wasn't sure what to expect inside. TOTALLY different once we went in. It looks SO NICE. The lighting is wonderful. The tables aren't all smooshed on top of each other. For an app I have the chicken chips and fried pickles. My entree was tuna on bamboo. The tuna was cooked to perfection and I didn't want it to end. My dessert was the angel food cake. Totally recommend and have told my husband that we have to go again another day.
Everything we have tasted at this restaurant has been superb! Dishes are well presented, wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive and the food is beyond expectations. Although pricier than our standard dinners, the Heirloom is our go to for special celebrations. Highly, Highly recommend.
I liked that they had a flight of wine for tasting. They had a good selection of beer and cider. I liked that the menu had different items on it. Loved the bread that came with dinner. The service was spectacular. The main dishes that we had could have been yummier.
Heirloom is such a treasure! The food never disappoints and the service is always spot on!! I highly recommend it for anyone looking for farm to table freshness with a unique flair.
I love this restaurant. The Chef owner sources fresh, local ingredients and makes very creative menu options. He forages for mushrooms and wild ramps when in season and supports local farms. The cocktails, wine and food was all delicious! I love his take on Shrimp and Grits. We will be back!
The duck was superb and the oysters delicious. They were busy, but still attentive. Thanks to the staff and chef for a delightful experience!
I and my wife hosted an out-of-town relative visiting on a business trip. Complementary bread was basically dinner rolls, though somewhat denser with a nice texture.
Appetizers: Broiled oysters (6) were fresh, perfectly prepared, briny and delicious. Lightning Cakes were superlative, nicely spiced with Carolina Reaper undertones; the root vegetable slaw accompanying the cakes was a little bland. Charcuterie board was excellent! Especially the strawberry jam. Smeared on anything, it was super - even the complimentary dinner roll. Dabbed the mustard from the Charcuterie on the root vegetable slaw; a nice table-prepared combination!
Main Course: Shrimp and Grits was superb. Catch of the Day (Red Drum) was about 15-seconds overcooked, but still super. The cassoulet-like base under the fish was tasty and well-seasoned. The third entree, Ravioli with Country Ham, disappointed. The ravioli were undercooked, with hard chewy edges. However the middle of the ravioli were very tasty and the crisped country ham bits were mighty tasty.
Dessert: fresh peaches in a custard sauce was to die for! Home-made Baklava disappointed. The puff pastry was hard rather than crisp, though the filling was more satisfying - savory rather than over sweet. Sourdough Chocolate cake was also disappointing: the cake was too dense and a little dry - though with excellent chocolate flavor; not overly sweet.
Overall impression: intriguing flavors and combinations, will be going back in anticipation of a positive evolution in basic ingredients and skills.
