Lovely space. Warm and friendly service that was also knowledgeable and professional. Simple but delicious food. I had halibut with a side of peas, bread, butter and a glass of wine and I'm still thinking about it...

While the food and wine are excellent. There is apparently a time limit on the tables. The hostess informed me that despite my having made a reservation a week prior, our table was needed at a certain time, so we skipped desert and went elsewhere for desert drinks. Although we made it out on time, this added an unnecessary stressor to what was supposed to be a relaxing date night.

I dine here frequently and generally love the place however this visit was disappointing. Our server was terrible at reading cues and was off putting. The gnocchi was delicious and the burger was bland and boring.

Great food and service. Tables are well-placed, not lined up and tightly packed like at many places these days, but the room was still unusually noisy, for a small, seemingly intimate place. Still, the menu was interesting, the food tasty, and the service excellent.

Excellent neighborhood spot. Not too crowded on a Wednesday night, but full. Great wine list, food and service. Want to go again.

Heirloom should be ranked way better than it is. The kitchen turns out really fine dishes at squire reasonable price. It is a hidden gem

The food is absolutely outstanding--worth dealing with the noise level, which is high. Best to get a side table.

We felt so taken care of hosting our baby's birthday with a bunch of rowdy excited adults. Food was superb, service exceptional and we were so excited to have had our party at Heirloom...they handle large groups very well.

This was one of the best meals I've had in SF! We've had some excellent meals recently (Cala, Mourad) and this place is equally as excellent. The food was superbly cooked and the wine list impeccable. Service was phenomenal. The ambiance is underwhelming but it makes little impact on the overall experience. I highly recommend!

Good food, but very HOT on a warm evening with not enough ventilation. Also extremely noisy to the point of making conversation difficult.

This was my second visit to Heirloom and it confirmed that we just love this little neighborhood place. We enjoy the leisurely stroll there and back. The food is simple and delicious. The servers know their wines and make stellar recommendations that they back up with a taste of what they're recommending.
My girlfriend and I split the Prix Fixe, which was SUPERB, (Little Gems lettuce, sausage gnocchi, and strawberry rhubarb shortcake) and added the onion tart as a starter. We enjoyed a great rose recommended by our server, Michael, I think?, who was superb. I especially appreciated that they split the salad and gnocchi onto individual plates. It was MORE than enough food and every morsel was delicious.
We love the little two-top back by the window which was open and offered a nice little breeze. 100 bucks which included the wine. We'll definitely go back.

Beautiful place, great food, perfect value in the prix fixe with wine pairings.
(Lost one star because the waitress, albeit nice, was too speedy as she came to take my plate each time as the fork with the last bite was still in my mouth)

Sat at the counter so we had a great view of the preparation of everything. Enjoyed their chicken breast and a glass of cotes du rhone and a duck confit salad and a glass of the graves. Always good food at Heirloom cafe. I didn't get it this time, but I'd recommend the off the menu burger over the chicken (even though the chicken was quite good).

Went there with my fiancé for our two year anniversary. The food was really great. Love that they focus so much on seasonal ingredients. The set menu looked great, we chose to go a la carte- I don't think you can do wrong either way.

The very modest front entrance belies the wealth of good spirit, wonderful food and wine that awaits guests. The space is open and bright with a neighborhood feel. We were very well attended to by our waiter, the entire staff and the owner. All the food was beautifully plated, well executed and delicious (not fussy). The menu is California-informed Italian and French cuisine. This was our first visit and we will return! The feel of the restaurant was informal, warm and serious about its food and wine.

One of the best dining experience I have ever had in S.F. The food was amazing. Delicate flavors, creative preparations and all very delicious. The bacon and onion tart was exquisite. We had the halibut and the chicken breast dishes and both were great. The wines were also excellent and the wait staff well informed and helpful when selecting the right one. The atmosphere is elegantly understated.

We loved our dinner at the Heirloom Cafe. I had the prix fixe menu with salad, pork chop and strawberry shortcake dessert, each delicious course with a delightful wine pairing, all for $65! A very satisfying meal that felt like a bargain! Definitely will return!

Heirloom's food was outrageously good and well-priced. Everything that came to our table was excellent. You could tell careful and meticulous planning, sourcing and execution was done with each dish or item, right down to the bread. We shared the special cheeseburger, the Little gem salad, Local asparagus, Housemade potato gnocchi, Roasted halibut, Martin's spigariello and the Josey Baker bread. They also did wine pairings but we did not have wine with our meal.

It was a great dinner. The only down side was that it was incredibly hot. Customers were ordering glasses of ice and sweating over their meal. Need to work on the ventilation for hot days to ensure it's a comfortable experience

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on a Saturday evening at Heirloom. From the beautiful floral arrangement as we walked in, to a spacious table for four, the scene was set for a relaxed feast. The service was responsive and quick, with clear explanations of the dishes. There was no attempt to sell us on certain dishes or wines, just clear advice on what went well with what.
I had the 3-course prix fixe dinner and enjoyed it very much. I found the wines paired with the courses all to be outstanding, and subtly helped me to savor the flavors of my meal. With the 3 glasses of wines and the dinner, the cost of $65 seemed reasonable. My husband enjoyed a well-cooked fish entree. Our friends paid us the compliment that it was one of the best dinners they had eaten in San Francisco, and they are San Francisco foodies! Highly recommend this place.

I've always considered the Heirloom to be the hidden jewel of the new restaurants of the last decade. I took some friends who didn't know it and they were extremely impressed. The clientele are genuine (Portrero Hill, Bernal Heights, SOMA); The atmosphere is low key but elegantly geared for an intimate experience. The wine list is formidable, but most importantly
the dishes get better and better, some you won't forget.
