Heirloom Cafe Ratings and Reviews
While the food and wine are excellent. There is apparently a time limit on the tables. The hostess informed me that despite my having made a reservation a week prior, our table was needed at a certain time, so we skipped desert and went elsewhere for desert drinks. Although we made it out on time, this added an unnecessary stressor to what was supposed to be a relaxing date night.
Great food and service. Tables are well-placed, not lined up and tightly packed like at many places these days, but the room was still unusually noisy, for a small, seemingly intimate place. Still, the menu was interesting, the food tasty, and the service excellent.
This was one of the best meals I've had in SF! We've had some excellent meals recently (Cala, Mourad) and this place is equally as excellent. The food was superbly cooked and the wine list impeccable. Service was phenomenal. The ambiance is underwhelming but it makes little impact on the overall experience. I highly recommend!
This was my second visit to Heirloom and it confirmed that we just love this little neighborhood place. We enjoy the leisurely stroll there and back. The food is simple and delicious. The servers know their wines and make stellar recommendations that they back up with a taste of what they're recommending.
My girlfriend and I split the Prix Fixe, which was SUPERB, (Little Gems lettuce, sausage gnocchi, and strawberry rhubarb shortcake) and added the onion tart as a starter. We enjoyed a great rose recommended by our server, Michael, I think?, who was superb. I especially appreciated that they split the salad and gnocchi onto individual plates. It was MORE than enough food and every morsel was delicious.
We love the little two-top back by the window which was open and offered a nice little breeze. 100 bucks which included the wine. We'll definitely go back.
Our first visit to Heirloom, and we are only sorry that we hadn't come much sooner. EVERYTHING was fabulous. All of our dishes were amazing. We could literally taste the freshness of all ingredients. Service impeccable. We had a great evening and will return soonest.
Sat at the counter so we had a great view of the preparation of everything. Enjoyed their chicken breast and a glass of cotes du rhone and a duck confit salad and a glass of the graves. Always good food at Heirloom cafe. I didn't get it this time, but I'd recommend the off the menu burger over the chicken (even though the chicken was quite good).
The very modest front entrance belies the wealth of good spirit, wonderful food and wine that awaits guests. The space is open and bright with a neighborhood feel. We were very well attended to by our waiter, the entire staff and the owner. All the food was beautifully plated, well executed and delicious (not fussy). The menu is California-informed Italian and French cuisine. This was our first visit and we will return! The feel of the restaurant was informal, warm and serious about its food and wine.
One of the best dining experience I have ever had in S.F. The food was amazing. Delicate flavors, creative preparations and all very delicious. The bacon and onion tart was exquisite. We had the halibut and the chicken breast dishes and both were great. The wines were also excellent and the wait staff well informed and helpful when selecting the right one. The atmosphere is elegantly understated.
We loved our dinner at the Heirloom Cafe. I had the prix fixe menu with salad, pork chop and strawberry shortcake dessert, each delicious course with a delightful wine pairing, all for $65! A very satisfying meal that felt like a bargain! Definitely will return!
Heirloom's food was outrageously good and well-priced. Everything that came to our table was excellent. You could tell careful and meticulous planning, sourcing and execution was done with each dish or item, right down to the bread. We shared the special cheeseburger, the Little gem salad, Local asparagus, Housemade potato gnocchi, Roasted halibut, Martin's spigariello and the Josey Baker bread. They also did wine pairings but we did not have wine with our meal.
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on a Saturday evening at Heirloom. From the beautiful floral arrangement as we walked in, to a spacious table for four, the scene was set for a relaxed feast. The service was responsive and quick, with clear explanations of the dishes. There was no attempt to sell us on certain dishes or wines, just clear advice on what went well with what.
I had the 3-course prix fixe dinner and enjoyed it very much. I found the wines paired with the courses all to be outstanding, and subtly helped me to savor the flavors of my meal. With the 3 glasses of wines and the dinner, the cost of $65 seemed reasonable. My husband enjoyed a well-cooked fish entree. Our friends paid us the compliment that it was one of the best dinners they had eaten in San Francisco, and they are San Francisco foodies! Highly recommend this place.
I've always considered the Heirloom to be the hidden jewel of the new restaurants of the last decade. I took some friends who didn't know it and they were extremely impressed. The clientele are genuine (Portrero Hill, Bernal Heights, SOMA); The atmosphere is low key but elegantly geared for an intimate experience. The wine list is formidable, but most importantly
the dishes get better and better, some you won't forget.
