Great Colorado spot for views and food, and meeting with friends in the area!
Great meatballs and reliably good food for dinner!
Food was over salted and menu choices were limited. Ambience was wonderful but the pricey, marginal food was a great disappointment.
Came for my sons birthday while staying at Devils Thumb. While every detail about this resort at breathtaking this restaurant is a true disappointment. The menu is limited and uninspiring, every dish was mediocre/passable and the service was slow and uninformed. Bottom line - Devils Thumb resort is a gem and great experience. Avoid this restaurant however.
The entire meal was wonderful and plentiful! Our server, Josh D, was attentive and personable. Looking forward to dining there again soon!
We were staying at Devil’s Thumb Ranch for three days, so ate here for two dinners and three breakfasts. This restaurant is woefully understaffed and service is haphazard and slow. Servers (who seem to be unsupervised: whete is the manager?) seem untrained and inexperienced, forgetting food and service items, neglecting to wipe tables between guests (crumbs! smears!), leaving table cleaning rags and sprays on the tables while guests are seated nearby, and having guests wait a long time for initial water, bread, drinks order and check. Often prompting is necessary. Despite all this, servers are friendly, well-meaning and do apologize for slowness and mistakes. Food was good. The physical setting of the Devil’s Thumb Ranch is superb.
I think the menu is getting tired. I had expected a dinner menu but got the same I had for lunch previously. Service was very C- in a situation where the restaurant was fairly empty. Appetizer came without the bread/crackers to go with it.....they arrived a bit later. Soup came with the meal rather than before. The food was excellent but I think I would recommend Heck's for lunch not dinner.
This experience was disappointing for our first time visiting Devil's Thumb Ranch. We arrived for our reservation and the hostess cleared off a spot near the window with an incredible view. We then waited almost 10 minutes, and had to ask for a server. We then ordered Bloody Mary's, Biscuits & Gravy, and the DTR Wagyu Beef Flatiron Steak & Eggs. Overall, the food was really underwhelming. The biscuits were good but the gravy pretty much just tasted like flour. The cheesy grits desperately needed salt and the Wagyu was better than we were expecting. Overall, the prices were way too high for the quality of food we received and the service was not great.
This is one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever seen. The menu is creative and the food is delicious.
Incredible view! Sat outside and had the best burgers we've ever had. Amazing food and big portions. Service so friendly. Highly recommended.
Went for a special occasion and was looking forward to being able to eat and have drinks while at the resort, however the food was subpar. Ordered the grain bowl which tasted like the oil had been burnt and was overly salted. Not what we were expecting for a "healthy" option that caused us to leave property for the rest of the meals.
Extremely slow service. Not to the devil's thumb caliber
We had the "table for Two" by the Fireplace. The table is fine for the Pub, apps and a drink- NOT FOR DINING. bad chairs, no leg room- coffee table! Felt small and looked down on witht eh sea of High Top Table surrounding.
The timing on the Food was really bad- a FULL plate of Apps arrived only a few minutes prior, and no room for the main dinner. Waiter said it was the Kitchen's fault. We knew better. Would only have drinks there next time. Oh, and over priced. $20 for two beers with tip. really?
Great server, Ashton was fantastic but the support staff was lacking. Had the steak and it was like butter with good flavor. Side salad was served on main plate and was warm and wilted, french fries were also warm, not hot. Plating could be improved.
Beautiful archtecture, great service (David was our server), good wine list, delicious food. Menu was somewhat limited ( we were hoping for the waygu meatloaf but it was not offered), but it was a week night and the season is winding down. A fine experience overall.
Beautiful views of mountains from outdoor patio. Lots of families with kids and plenty for them to do while waiting for food. Picturesque with horses in fenced area and at least one wedding going on. Food was delicious and somewhat reasonably priced, however wine was quite expensive and pour was skimpy. Overall a great experience!
Food was good for the most part except a special of the day beef ravioli, which was very tough. A table next to us sent theirs back and was overheard being told by the manager the whole batch was tough, after he waited for 20 plus extra minutes. We also asked for a second cup of soup for our 9 year-old, which never came despite repeated asks of the waitress. So, excellent setting, order carefully, enjoy the beer and wine selection and don't expect more than you will be receiving.
Food was good, atmosphere is wonderful
A great wonderful place to hang out with great ambiance and good food.
Been here many times and tonight was a terrible experience. Beer was warm, steaks were cold and it took way too long to eat. Waitress was running around like a chicken when her head cut off and it was very disappointing because we used to love going to this place. To top it off, the waitress even forgot to give me a pen to sign my check. I could hear a lot of other folks complaining so I am going to chalk this up to a bad night and a busy night due to the July 4 holiday crowd.
Slow with hit or miss services. Not recommended. It took 30 minutes to get a drink, no refills offered. 1 hour and 20 minutes to get dinner.
Great location and beautiful views. Everyone loved their dinners and service was great. We will be back!
Meatloaf was awesome and presentation was great. Salad and hamburger was good.
The meatloaf was outstanding, along with the tomato jam on top, and the mashed potatoes - it was a very memorable and delicious meal. It's also a big portion-every drop was delicious. Also enjoyed the cheese plate, and the service was fantastic - our waiter was very attentive, but not overbearing and very easy to talk to.
Great food. Excellent service. Sorry we can't remember his name, but our waiter (from Leadville) was very personable. Beautiful views from the patio, where we ate.
Food is fair. Views and service excellent. Overpriced.
Excellent & everyone was gracious & service oriented. Chaz was awesome!
Such an amazing venue. Perfect for an afternoon lunch date that is delicious and won't break the bank!
Went for birthday dinner. Pork and steak good. Child's burger over cooked. Chicken pot pie just ok not very flavorful. Crispy Brussels spourts also tasty. Didn't have a menu to view online which would have been helpful
One of the best brunch buffets I've ever had. What a great way to celebrate Mother's Day!
This is a 5 star hotel with a 2 star restaurant. Very disappointed. Extremely slow service and less than mediocre food. There needs to be an "adults only" section as this is a "family friendly" restaurant with parents who do not supervise their kids. Prices are not commensurate with the service and the rowdy children who run amok. Stressful dining experience.
Great pre mothers day dinner! Great for kids as well. Can't wait to sit outside!
We came here during our visit over spring break -- we were staying at the YMCA at Winter Park nearby and were looking for a nice dinner out. This was great. I was a bit worried that this would be one of those forlorn empty restaurants but in fact it was full of customers both of the hotel and others -- they can accommodate bigger groups like ours (around 12) as well as smaller groups. Lots of kids. There was something for everyone, everything was delicious, and we'll come back again. The kids can roast marshmallows for free on the patio. The view is spectacular and it's fun to walk around the property before or after dinner.
We had several meals here over the course of our 3-day stay and the one word I would use is "inconsistent". Some items were terrific (Wagyu burger), while others were disappointingly bland (roasted veggies with kale and grains). The salumi and cheese plates were very small for the $ (especially when common cheeses were used, i.e. haystack goat & Camembert) but the chicken noodle soup and dinner rolls were spot on. The amount of yogurt in their yogurt & granola plate changed daily as well as their lattes (one cup was 1" short of milk compared to my husbands that were served at the same time). Due to the amount of time it took to get our food on 2 separate occasions, the management waived the charge of our dessert and french toast so I can praise their customer service. They were also quick when asking to refill the s'mores basket for the fire outside. Overall it was fine but there is a lot of potential to be truly great if they can get some consistency.
Heck's was recommended by a local in Winter Park, and we were not disappointed. Food, Service and Ambiance were terrific. Highly recommended!
This place is a hidden gem! It was great for a few after dinner drinks and also perfect for families with kids. They have s'mores for after dinner too. Facility is beautiful, spa is awesome and just over all it's great!!!
Hecks is a great spot in Grand County for a good meal and great ambiance and a view. Kids always love the s'mores out back on the fire pit. We absolutely love this place.
Heck's Tavern is a "must" for our family whenever we visit the Winter Park area. My wife and I love the ambiance and mountain views. The kids, the S'mores by the fire pit!
Burger was great but pasta dish wasn't. The noodles were hard and dry like they had been sitting in the pot for awhile.
