Nice seats at low table right next to the fireplace. Good beer selections. Attentive service. Great ambiance with high timbered ceilings. Also had pleasant live music.

The food was excellent but the service was a little slow. We didn’t mind too much because there was live music and the ambience was warm and cozy. We would definitely come back.

So disappointed this year! We’ve had two meals so far during our visit at Devils Thumb Ranch and both were below par. To get chicken on my Cobb salad at lunch would have cost me $10 more... what cob salad doesn’t already have chicken? That would have been a $25 salad. I realize DTR is an upscale experience but this salad was a joke. Dinner was no better. We ordered pork tenderloin, not cooked to order, and it was dry and tough. The rice was not cooked properly (underdone) and the child’s Mac and cheese was grainy and so hot it was inedible until we got another bowl to help cool it down. The menu, compared to years past, was small and uninspired. Sad.. I’ve always looked forward to my meals here.

As a lucky guest at Devil’s Thumb, there are only two options for food. Heck’s is the more casual one. The room, windows, energy and service are all excellent. The food is mediocre with very few healthy options. Most is glorified bar food.

I love this restaurant. I love the location, the food, the staff, the facility... it's all just excellent. I hadn't been here in 12 years, and I was happy to see that everything was exactly how I remembered. We were really early for our reservation, but the staff quickly got us a fantastic table right next to the huge stone fireplace, and it was perfect. Love the wine selection.

The servers were friendly, yet professional. The Wagyu meatballs were good, especially the sauce and crispy shallots. Was disappointed the pork chili verde was presented with no sour cream or tortilla chips. The Old Fashioned from the bar was delicious. I also had dinner from Heck's delivered to my cabin the next night. The Wagyu burger was tasty and fresh, and the Samoas Cookies cheesecake was perfect.

As vegetarians there were very few options and the items we did select were average. Not what I have experienced in the past. For the second night we cancelled reservations and went to winter park to eat.

The service quality and the food Was inferior than past visits. We are local and love to come to Heck’s for dinner. The service this time was very slow, server did not pay attention and done of the food was marginal in terms taste.

Been here numerous times. It is slipping. Service was good / acceptable given height of season and normal challenges. Expect service to be good not outstanding Food was good too. I am not a big fan of Wagyu beef. Don’t care for it particularly because it has a sweet flavor and the preparation made that sweetness over bearing. As minced, it needs a binder and not much to keep it together thus burger is not really that good Ambience is mountain lodge and views are nice. Noise level is good and one is able to carry on a conversation. Important to me. Overall good; but, was better.

Heck's does a great job with really comforting food at a reasonable price. My girlfreind and I actually enjoyed Heck's more than the Ranch House (which also does a good job!) because it was such a relaxing atmosphere. The pork tenderloin (her dish) and the pan seared chicken breast (my dish) hit the spot!

We had a great time for my cousin birthday. We had the ribeye which was perfectly prepared and very large! Service was so so, I believe we had a new server. Biggest down fall was the vegetarian option was not worth the price nor a well thought out dinner.

We had a wonderful dinner. The new head chef has made some delicious changes to the menu. If you have not been to Heck’s this season give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised. It’s an all new Heck’s experience. Yum!

It was a normal dinner and we were Very disappointed, especially for a New Year’s Eve. Crab legs were ice cold. Nicely presented but too cold to eat like that. Prime rib- last batch- was red and undercooked. Vegetables had not been roasted completely and I got some that were raw in center. Desserts were limited and cheap looking . One can buy richer cupcakes at a local bakery than the ones they served. Also, They had jello!? When we asked if they would have more Nutella cheesecake coming out, they said no more so they ran out and there was no special cake, or dessert. For the price charged, they could have served a glass of Prosecco or champagne to greet you. It was very disappointing.

The restaurant was charming, delightful. The staff was very accommodating, catered to our needs. Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful view! The buffet was nice but very overpriced, did not have the taste you would expect for the price, could have had a few more vegetables!

Food was excellent. Unfortunately server was not polite, we were waiting an hour for our food. The funny story is that we were asked multiple times if other orders were ours. On the house bread basket at a table of seven with 4 rolls was a joke- across from us a table of two same basket.

We typically build in a lunch at Heck's each time we are in the area and have really grown to love it. However, on a recent trip, it was quite evident that they were completely overwhelmed. I know this can happen but it would have been nice if the wait staff addressed it or perhaps apologized. The appetizer never arrived and our main courses arrived after being there over an hour. At least when it came, it was good but it was definitely not the experience we were hoping for or have come to expect.

Devil's Thumb Ranch is beautiful, but for the $ the food really wasn't as outstanding as I'd hoped. Small things like the cheap vinyl tablecloth felt out of place. I had mediocre salmon -- perhaps beef would have been a better option. Also very odd to have only 1 side (either starch or veggie, not both) came with the entrees, which seems cheap in an expensive restaurant. Given what I can get in other places in the Fraser Valley for variety and freshness, Heck's didn't measure up.

What a beautiful place! It's hard to describe - vaulted ceiling, main floor, surrounding balcony, all made with old looking beams and wood. I had a tasty and interesting drink - the holiday berry something. Our meals were casual and a good value.

Menu choices have been trimmed back and of those, they were out of 2 entrees, both of which were our first choices. Quality vs price is severely lacking. Average hotel food at high end hotel prices. Prices for wine by the glass are criminal. $18 for Rutherford Cab. That’s the retail price for a bottle of that mediocre wine. Other selections were equally pricey for average wines. Disappointed to say the least and we’ve been eating here for over 10 years. Won’t be back till something changes.
