About Heavy Seas Alehouse
Heavy Seas Alehouse is a place where sailors tell stories but pyrates make legends! It is high time fans of Heavy Seas Beer are able to experience Baltimore’s best and locally owned craft brewery in its own ship. Our menu features fresh and seasonal ingredients that we source locally whenever possible. The dishes are simple in appearance with bold and assertive flavors that stand up to the intense beers we are known for…ARRRRGGGHHHH! The Alehouse is located in the Tack Factory building and combines the charm and character of the historic space with the bold industrial elements reminiscent of the Holland Tack Factory that occupied the building for more than 90 years.

Heavy Seas Alehouse Ratings and Reviews
Kevin and his team did a great job making my husband's birthday special! Our server was phenomenal and accommodated our somewhat needy bunch. I was worried about bringing a large group here, but giving them notice proved to make the experience super enjoyable. Everyone had a great timed and seemed to enjoy their food. The menu is your classic American bar fare. We loved the tots (we had the cheese &bacon and crab dip ones). The fish and chips were fried perfectly and the Jalepeno bacon is Really special!
The food wasn't that great-- pretty basic and not very tasty... but the service was good and we loved the beer. They have a huge selection of unique beers, so if you're a beer person-- you'll love it. I'd recommend Heavy Seas for the beer over the food definitely.
Went for Mother's Day and it was pretty disappointing. Food was regular menu ( lunch/brunch) and had hoped for something a little more than everyday fare. Nothing on the menu was remarkable. It reminded me of an Applebees. Service was challenging at best. The restaurant was pretty empty and we struggled to get beverages. They were also in the process of switching distributors and had no beer. That is a complete failure in management. Not sure I will return based off of this.
My husband and I love this place. The food is always good and the beer is great. I saw they were offering a deal on brunch and jumped at the chance to go, inviting some friends to join. We had a great, relaxing time with a small but tasty brunch buffet. The chicken in particular was really tasty- well seasoned and still juicy inside.
Very disappointing meal at Heavy Seas. First they were out of olives for the one of the two people who wanted a cocktail. Then they were out of the non-alcoholic beer that they advertised. The alcoholic beers were good however. Dinner was barely passable - heavy and greasy. There were oysters in the heavily coated oyster poor boys? Finally, the bills for the two cocktail orders did not add up. They had added two dollars for good liquor but did not show it as an item, only in the totals. So the tab total did not match the itemized total. Would recommend Heavy Seas only for a beer with friends.
We stopped for a very late dinner. We loved the creative drink menu, the decor, and the food was excellent. We did wait for quite awhile for the food, because of a miscommunication in the kitchen. The front-of-the-house staff was very accommodating, and very apologetic. My boyfriend and I both work in a kitchen/restaurant, so we understand and didn't have a problem. We know that patrons who come in right before close can be a pain, but I would just suggest having one person in the kitchen at all times so that no one misses a check. Overall, our experience was positive, and we will definitely stop back if we are ever in the area again!
We knew about Heavy Seas beer, and decided to check it out. We ate at the bar, and service was friendly and prompt. The menu was pretty standard selections for the Maryland pub scene, but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and freshness of food. The restaurant and the facilities were very clean.
Came back on a Sunday for brunch. It was an even better experience than the last time. They had a special for St. Patrick's Day, green eggs and ham. Absolutely delicious skillet type of meal with eggs, ham, potatoes and peppers. Price was great too. Oh almost forgot to mention that it's bottomless mimosas if you need a little vitamin c with you alcohol. The atmosphere is much more laid back on a Sunday morning. It wasn't crowded at all and there were a few families there. I highly recommend coming for brunch.
The staff at Heavy Seas Alehouse were beyond accommodating for our large party. We had several last-minute adjustments to include additional people and children, all of which was taken in stride. They were welcoming and made the evening an enjoyable one. Great food and beer to boot!
Had a table for 6 at 8 pm on a Saturday March 5th. Sat promptly near the bar, and near the live music which was acoustic and not too loud. Great looking menu. Chose an $18 kobe burger medium rare. It came about medium but had zero flavor. I assume it missed being seasoned, but even the onions and other sauces and toppings seemed very bland, I was very disappointed. Another member of our group never got their oysters for an appetizer. The checks were screwed up when brought at the end of the night as well.
The server had a very bland personality as well, took her 20 minutes to get a round of beers both times. She never stopped to check if we needed anything between service stops. She never offered specials, we had to ask after waiting 20 minutes to order. She forgot salt and pepper and hot sauce we had asked for once I realized how bland my burger was. In fact the rest of the table was finished eating by the time I got the seasoning for my burger.
The beers however we phenomenal, but the service and the burger I had left a bead taste. I wouldn't return myself, but others in the party said the service was notably bad and rhat they hadn't experienced that before there.
We had a great night at the ale house! We tried some fantastic small batch brews including a stout my IPA living husband couldn't resist. The mussels were my favorite. The nachos were fairly standard as was the chicken pizza, although it came out on almost a pita bread crust. I would definitely return and try some different menu items - likely sticking to the more creole and seafood dishes on the menu, as I think this is what they do best. Also, I would definitely try a burger here, we just weren't hungry enough for that at this dinner.
We had a good time at Heavy Seas Alehouse on a Friday night. The place was very busy, with a lot of groups standing around at the bar. It was a great atmosphere.
Try their gumbo: it is delicious! And if you are in the good for a burger try their Kobe burger, it is juicy and crispy. And order any of their beers: you won't be disappointed!
