Hearthstone Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Awesome Valentines dinner for our annual pilgrimage to Breck. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived until we wrapped the evening. The PEI Mussels were a great starter. Three of our party ordered steaks-all prepared to perfection. The Oso Bucco was equally well prepared. Could not have asked for a better end to a Valentine day.
My wife and I had an excellent meal at Hearthstone on February 5, 2018. Dinner entrees were lamb chops and the butchers cut steak. Both were excellent and creatively prepared and served. The included sides were also excellent. The service was good, but not great, no specific complaints, but not up to the high standard set by the food and ambience. I would recommend Hearthstone to family and friends.
In my view, the restaurant is just not worth its price, period. There are much better dining option in Breck. First, the food is just okay, nothing special. Appetizers (jamon with cheese and quinoa salad) were okay, really nothing special, justifying the price. The mains were average (my wife had snapper) and subpar (I had hanger stake). My stare was a shocker -- they brought a course with a stake that was literally burned (I ordered rare plus). To their credit, they agreed to take it back, but the fact that a burned product was allowed to leave the kitchen tell you a lot about the restaurant (and how seriously they take what they cook). Also, when my dish was sent back, one of us (my wife) had her dish and I had nothing. Surprisingly, the restaurant offered no remedy (e.g., a complimentary appetizer for the table or something). Another problem is that they do not offer to take your coats. As a result, it has a feel of a cheap diner: while some people (not us) celebrate a special occasion, other people put their coats on/take them off, literally in from of other diners. D- for ambiance. Service was extremely polite, but it cannot redeem the rest. Plus, the server was not a real "advocate" for food -- provided only minimal explanation of items on the menu. Do not come back or recommend it to others: is not fine dining and is worth the price.
I ordered steak, wilted spinach, and Brussel sprouts. I also have several food sensitivities. The restaurant was very accommodating of my food allergies, but the food was barely serviceable. My steak was tough, burnt on the outside, and chewy on the inside. The spinach was nicely wilted, but unseasoned and bitter. The Brussel sprouts were not cooked long enough and overly sweetened with maple syrup. The steak and Brussel sprouts were part of the entree from the menu, but the spinach, which was a side dish of another entree, was replacing a cheesy potato side dish of the steak. My friend had the salmon and she liked her dish.
We celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary and were treated as royalty! The staff were excellent in their jobs and seemed to really enjoy what they did. All of our questions were answered and there were no glitches in our service. We look forward to going back - maybe for no reason at all except for the excellent service and food!
We were dining with our daughter and son- in -law on our last evening in Breckenridge.
We arrived about 10 minutes early for our reservation and then had to wait about 20 for our table.
After that things went well.
We loved the food and the ambiance. Things are better than ever here but it doesn’t pay to arrive early.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience at The Hearthstone! Our server, Benji, was absolutely incredible at not only explaining the dishes, but making recommendations! Our appetizer, Tips & Chips, was absolutely on point! Our salad, Field Greens, was split perfectly and full of flavor! The entree we chose, the Blackberry Elk, was INCREDIBLE and cooked to perfection. Our dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding with caramel sauce, was delightful! The homemade bread and salted butter was an added treat as well! We are so glad we shared all of the items, as we were able to enjoy all of the flavors and leave not feeling like we were stuffed and miserable! The service was OVER THE TOP!!! Nice job Hearthstone.... we loved it!
We visit Hearthstone every year when we are in Breckenridge! It is a very special place and we have celebrated special occasions there. The ambience and service are outstanding. The menu is unique and food is perfectly prepared. Highly recommend the duck and the elk! As well as cake and shake! Lastly, Hearthstone has an excellent wine list.
Overall our experience at Hearthstone was mixed. The red snapper was over cooked. The colorado lamb was exceptional. We were two and the table next to us was eight that arrived after us and received their meal well before us. The waitress was very apologetic, which was nice :), but in this day and age you need to step up your apology for a delayed meal with a either a beverage comp or dessert comp. I could not recommend this restaurant because the night we were there was mid week, and so many points were missed. I can’t imagine going here on a prime day of the week for fine dining.
This is my second time dining at Hearthstone, and it continues to deliver a wonderful experience. We were here for my daughter's birthday, and they prepared a special menu which is such a nice personal touch. We started with the mussel special which was superb - an onion soup broth which we need more bread to finish every last bite. The entrees were all delicious, but their standout for me is still the bourbon vanilla shake. You can get it as part of the cake and shake with carrot cake or a large version on its own - it is a delight! Our service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive, and she made good suggestions. I look forward to coming back next year.
