Hearthstone Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our first experience with Hearthstone in 2015 was a colossal disappointment. Unfortunately we dined on a night that a very large Christmas party was being held at the restaurant. We had OpenTable reservations, but 40 minutes after our reserved time, we were finally sat upstairs, but in a strange room, at a tiny table in a corner obviously meant for two but cramming four of us elbow to elbow, and the noise level from the raucous party below was excruciating. We saw our very hurried and impatient waiter only 3 times the entire evening after taking our order 30 minutes after seating. Food arrived lukewarm to cool, under and overcooked, and incomplete from the menu description. And because our waiter was so absent, we never got a chance to voice our complaints. So despite all the glowing recommendations, this was our inaugural experience with Hearthstone. And which we honestly considered would be our last.
Two years later, we had still been hearing of how fantastic Hearthstone was from locals and visitors. So with the added benefit of the Breckenridge Dining Passport, we decided to give Hearthstone another opportunity in hopes our first experience was a fluke (due to what we hoped to assume was the enormous Christmas party overwhelming the restaurant's staff and kitchen). And we are truly and thoroughly delighted we did! The ambience was charming and quite romantic, view of the city and mountain spectacular, and every expectation was met and wildly exceeded. Food, service, attentiveness, ambience - all absolutely incredible. We could not have had a better experience, worthy of making us forget the ill-fated night in 2015.
We'll be back (soon), and as often as we can!
We we’re visiting for the weekend and found this restaurant online with great reviews. Once we got there, the building itself, being an old 1800 house, was gorgeous. We were seated in the front room and our waitress named Canaan was prompt and knowledgeable to the point that she led us to the special promotion menu that was also gave back to charity. The cheese tray to start in combination with a Nordic vanilla lager was fantastic. The lamb was fantastic but the butchers cut steak was the envy of the table. Price was spot in and with the service and ambiance, this place is a MUST!!!! Will definitely go back while in town!!!
Celebrated our wedding anniversary at this lovely, unique restaurant in Breckenridge. Everything about the experience was wonderful.. from the attentive service to the fantastic food.. they even surprised us a complimentary glass of sparkling wine in honor of our anniversary... it is no wonder that everyone recommends this restaurant!
Forgot whether the food was good or not after the waitress tried to overcharge us by $30. I can only wonder how many other customers didn't check their bill closely to see their bill was in correct. Funny how she managed to make sure she charged us for the Passport fees for the set dinner special, but then forgot how to add. Not a good feeling for our anniversary dinner.
We shared tips and chips for an appetizer. The beef tips were very good but the French fries (fries for an appetizer?) were cold and soggy. I had the butchers cut steak. Over salted and over cooked Dining partner had the leg of lamb which was done perfectly but the polenta blend with summer squash was so over powered with anise that it could not be eaten. Overall the place is cute but the food left a lot to be desired especially for the price.
I ordered the hanger steak. I ordered it rare. Parts of the steak were medium and the rest was medium rare. To be fair, I did not send it back, because I was with a group of people and did not want to hold up dinner. My daughter had the same comment about her steak being cooked too long. The appetizers were delicious. The desserts were fair.
