Expected more from reviews that I read before deciding to reserve. Overall enjoyable evening- very good service and great ambiance but the food did not meet my expectations. I have had much better food for the price in many different locales.
This was our first time to Breckenridge. Our shuttle driver said he had been driving two years and had heard only great things from his passengers about this restaurant. We decided to give it a try and although it was a bit pricey it was worth it. Save room for dessert the English sticky toffee pudding was delicious.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Hearthstone. It is an annual tradition for us and we have never been disappointed
We made reservations for an early dinner and then discovered they have a great happy hour so we went even earlier. The Happy hour drinks and special price menu was great. We were comfortable at the little table upstairs in the bar area with a great view of the mountains and Breck so they accommodated us and let us remain and have dinner in the bar area. Food was great and portions were large.
While I was initially disappointed with our assigned table (ground floor, by the kitchen door) and suggest that in assigning tables perhaps they should consider both previous guests or even just those with in-state addresses and thus more apt to be a return customer. Related, there used to be some sort of honor being an Open Table VIP but since Priceline bought it and many restaurants have left the program I've noticed this "status" means nothing and most reservations get confirming calls from the restaurant the day before. That means it actually is an EXTRA step using this service versus just calling the restaurant directly in the first place. In any event, once past the seating, it was perfection. As usual. Great service, amazing food, wonderful value-for-money.
Best place we have ever ate! Blackberry Elk and Ginger Scallops just melted in our mouth, cooked to perfection! Will always come back here when visiting Breckenridge!
Lovely atmosphere and good service, but food is simply overpriced. There is no reason to price gauge because it is a tourist town. Locals happen to eat out too.
Perfect evening out!
My husband took me here for my Valentines birthday on a ski trip and we loved it! We had the cheese plate (enough for 4 people), beet salad and the salmon. Fantastic flavors! Very hard to decide what to get as there were easily 4 entrees I loved. Superb service - attentive but not intrusive, knowledgeable about the wine list too. Great views and twinkling lights made it a wonderful nite. We will be back!!
Awesome Valentines dinner for our annual pilgrimage to Breck. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived until we wrapped the evening. The PEI Mussels were a great starter. Three of our party ordered steaks-all prepared to perfection. The Oso Bucco was equally well prepared. Could not have asked for a better end to a Valentine day.
Great location. Delightful food choices, well-prepared. A truly relaxing and pampering evening.
Great food! Staff was very nice and helped with any question whether it be related to the menu or the town.
Great starters - cheese plate is excellent. Red snapper was very good and great sides of brussel sprouts and rice cake. Featured selections are always good. Service was great and overall dining experience was excellent. Highly recommend.
Elk was wonderful. Highly recommended...
What a lovely place. The food was wonderful. We had the duck and scallops with artisan cheeses to start. Service was excellent. The setting is delightful with great views. Reserve early. The cost was great for Breckenridge.
Cody, our waiter was a true professional. The service and personal attention was exquisite. The food was well presented and unique enough to satisfy any hard core foodie.
We had a fantastic time at Hearthstone. The cocktail list (and their quality) was excellent.
The lamb of the day, and the Hawaiian Ono were fantastic as well. The staff also made us feel extremely welcome.
Atmosphere and service were great, but food was very lacking in flavor. Definitely not worth the money spent.
We had an absolutely great experience. The lamb and elk were delicious!! Great service as well. Would definitely go back there.
This place was super! Excellent food & service!
very professional and comfortable. We had a great meal and were seated right on time. our meal was wonderful. As a professional in the hospitality industry I very much recommend this establishment.
Delicious meal and top-notch service. This place is definitely a gem of Breckenridge. Will return again when we're back in town.
This was an incredible restaurant!! From the minute we walked in, the friendly staff, delicious appetizers and entrees!! Divine!! All around a wonderful atmosphere and dining experience!! Will definitely go back!!
My wife and I had an excellent meal at Hearthstone on February 5, 2018. Dinner entrees were lamb chops and the butchers cut steak. Both were excellent and creatively prepared and served. The included sides were also excellent. The service was good, but not great, no specific complaints, but not up to the high standard set by the food and ambience. I would recommend Hearthstone to family and friends.
In my view, the restaurant is just not worth its price, period. There are much better dining option in Breck. First, the food is just okay, nothing special. Appetizers (jamon with cheese and quinoa salad) were okay, really nothing special, justifying the price. The mains were average (my wife had snapper) and subpar (I had hanger stake). My stare was a shocker -- they brought a course with a stake that was literally burned (I ordered rare plus). To their credit, they agreed to take it back, but the fact that a burned product was allowed to leave the kitchen tell you a lot about the restaurant (and how seriously they take what they cook). Also, when my dish was sent back, one of us (my wife) had her dish and I had nothing. Surprisingly, the restaurant offered no remedy (e.g., a complimentary appetizer for the table or something). Another problem is that they do not offer to take your coats. As a result, it has a feel of a cheap diner: while some people (not us) celebrate a special occasion, other people put their coats on/take them off, literally in from of other diners. D- for ambiance. Service was extremely polite, but it cannot redeem the rest. Plus, the server was not a real "advocate" for food -- provided only minimal explanation of items on the menu. Do not come back or recommend it to others: is not fine dining and is worth the price.
I ordered steak, wilted spinach, and Brussel sprouts. I also have several food sensitivities. The restaurant was very accommodating of my food allergies, but the food was barely serviceable. My steak was tough, burnt on the outside, and chewy on the inside. The spinach was nicely wilted, but unseasoned and bitter. The Brussel sprouts were not cooked long enough and overly sweetened with maple syrup. The steak and Brussel sprouts were part of the entree from the menu, but the spinach, which was a side dish of another entree, was replacing a cheesy potato side dish of the steak. My friend had the salmon and she liked her dish.
amazing. beat my expectations. a little crowded but i can understand why
We celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary and were treated as royalty! The staff were excellent in their jobs and seemed to really enjoy what they did. All of our questions were answered and there were no glitches in our service. We look forward to going back - maybe for no reason at all except for the excellent service and food!
