What Insiders Are Saying
Hearth has been one of the East Village’s best restaurants for over a decade, and it just got a whole lot lighter and leaner.
Great food presentation and service
My wife & I love this restaurant! Even though we now live in Warren, NJ, we don't mind making the trip into NYC for a meal at Hearth! The food never disappoints & the service is always great! Marco, the chef/owner has 2 important rules... 1. Serve real food that, looks & smells delicious 2. Serve food that makes you FEEL GOOD! Well, Hearth excels at both of these! Do yourself a favor, if you find yourself in NYC & you want to Feel Good, eat at Hearth!
We have been to Hearth many times and have never been disappointed. Creative, inspiring dishes. This is a gem that you must try.
Hearth never fails to deliver. With a locally source menu, their food is always fresh and tasty!
After a recent visit where the kitchen rushed out 5 plates of food within 5 minutes of each other and did not show the customary care, I was pleased to have a great meal at Hearth where the food and service was back at its homey but refined best.
Excellent food every time I go. Can get very busy / loud but still a great time.
Get there early on a weekend if you’re bringing kids. We did four adults and two toddlers, 11 AM on a Sunday, and it was great.
Food was very good, every dish we had. Liver pate, calamari, skate, meatballs, rabbit leg and mushrooms all hit the mark. Red sauces were great, save the bread for dipping Service was great, he was very accommodating, and took initiative to provide options to meet my dietary restrictions (loved that he did that without even being asked, made my night). Slightly overpriced. Portions were able to be shared. Pleasant setting. We will be back.
Hearth has been around for years, and its food is as toothsome as ever.
the staff took care of us well, and the food was interesting. we did lots of sharing.
Hearth never disappoints. Ever. The food is always compelling. Wait staff is on their game.
Our favorite restaurant. Wonderful food, service, ambiance and value.
Among my favorite restaurants in the east village, have been coming here for years and have always been very pleased. Great food, great staff, excellent wine list!
Always always always love visiting here.
Too dark, food portions too small, menu very limited. Left hungry.
The food was flavorful, fresh and different. It wasn't noisy, a big plus, and they even have a box on the table for cell phones, to encourage conversation. All in all, it was a very pleasant place to have a leisurely Sunday brunch.
The food was delish but the service was quite lacking. The waiter hardly came by to see if we needed more drinks. We actually had to stand up twice to get their attention and tell them that we needed a drink. The place was not full, so we were baffled by the lack of service. Upon finishing our meal, we hung around for a while, and the waiter NEVER picked up the plates, even though it was evident we were done.
We had a great experience at the Hearth, really good ambience, nice food and terrific service.
Hearth offers cutting-edge food without the boisterous crowds that often come to be seen at a hot spot and don't really appreciate the flavors. You can get a fabulous meal and still hear your table companions. And the staff are immensely welcoming as well as professionally capable.
Best place to eat in NYC. All healthy fats. No canola oil!
Delicious menu options, try the roasted mushrooms! Very good attentive service too.
Being from South Mississippi, we aren’t exposed to many dining opportunities like Hearth. We loved every single bite of food! It was such an enjoyable experience and the food and service, alike, were very prompt.
Excellent food every single time. Wonderful service from beginning to end of every meal. Special shout out to Meredith who runs front of house and makes sure every guest is taken care of.
I have eaten at Hearth on numerous occasions and it is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC however this weeks meal was disappointing in terms of the food.
Lively neighborhood, good cocktail and wine list. The food is outstanding and good for sharing to sample the menu. Service excellent. One of our go-tos when in the city.
Very nice food, service and ambiance. Will return. However, though it's included on some lists of "quiet" restaurants, at peak times its brick walls and bare tables make for a cacophonous experience.
Had the rabbit which was amazing. Sat at chef table. Will come back again.
Great meal. Menu perfect size. Food quality was amazing
We went with the tasting menu and wine paring and were blown away. They do everything well but the food was almost perfect. Great use of herbs to accent dishes. Good mix of dishes. The tastings come out three at a time and with a new glass of wine each time if you choose that. I go to places for the food. And this place is legit. An added plus that the service was excellent.
Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here with the tasting menu and beverage pairing--everything was great. I come here a fair amount anyway and will continue to return--I've never been disappointed
Good food and ambience, we have get the chef's tasting menu, it was delicious!
Food always delicious, very creative and service was excellent. My only complaint was everything was a tad rich, even when we ordered a veggie side it had a lot of cheese. Some things on the menu you know are rich but others could be lighter.
Exceptional as always. Sat at che’fs counter for an incredible experience.
Always a wonderful time, great staff and fantastic food
Meatballs were very overpriced at $24 for 3 and dry (no side and bread is an extra cost). Steak tartare also over-priced and came in a small cereal bowl covered in potato chips. Unsure who thought that presentation was acceptable but it is not. Very disappointing
My experience at Hearth was exceptional. Every dish I had had amazing flavor & the presentation was fantastic. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more highly.
My husband and I had an unexpected date night here on Saturday and we were very pleased. The menu setup is great and fresh. I wish we were hungry enough to do the Tasting Menu but we'll just have to come back to try it out. Our waiter was an absolute gem. The food was delicious, especially the pate. Would try it again for the Tasting Menu and potentially a group birthday dinner.
Hearth has been a favorite for many years. The use of seasonal fresh vegetables from the greenmarket is what has put it over the top as one of the best NYC restaurants. After our last meal, my vegetarian wife described as her favorite meal of the year. Cheers Marco!
Great food and ambiance. Portions were generous and filling. While the "place your phone in the cigar box" thing felt a bit too on-the-nose at first, it was a nice reminder to be present while at dinner.
Best meatball I’ve ever had. Impressive wine list.
