What Insiders Are Saying

The Infatuation
7.9

Hearth has been one of the East Village’s best restaurants for over a decade, and it just got a whole lot lighter and leaner.

Ratings 7.5-8.0:These are restaurants that are reliable, tasty, and particularly good for whatever we have deemed them “Perfect For.” Hit up a 7.7 for Date Night with confidence, as long as you don’t need the restaurant to be the most interesting thing that happens that night.

Food was delicious and the whole experience of the chef taste menu was unique. Due to the ambiance and the plate sharing it felt like an intimate family dinner in a beautiful backyard.

It's our second time here, and we enjoyed it as much as the first time! We brought friends with us this time, and they truly enjoyed the meal. We were also really pleased with the wine, the first time we had cocktails which were great.

Great menu from top to bottom. Knowledgable service. Great ambiance. Portion sizes were good and menu was explained very nicely by our waitress. Good wine selection and tasty cocktails.

Hearth is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always exciting and tasty. I have never had a bad meal. It's one of the best in NYC.

We really enjoyed our meal. It was very healthy and delicious. The food was simple and made of the freshest best quality ingredients. I loved the fermented bread and the fava bean salad and the mushrooms. We shared and the portions were generous. We wanted to try everything and even got a rhubarb for desert which was also delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. The meal was a big hit with all of us and we are definitely foodies. Highly recommend. Go early to get a table before it gets busy.

Food was very good overall. They excel at cooking vegetables just right. Fava bean salad was disappointing, as the dressing overpowered the flavors of the ingredients. A glass of Marion Valpolicella Superiore was outstanding.

Went for a business dinner, totally 5 people. Our guests were late and the restaurant staff were very gracious. The food was delicious although for business the menu might have been a bit esoteric. Always wanted to go there and now glad I did

I've been lucky enough to eat here at least once a season! The menu is seasonal and they have always been accommodating with dietary restrictions. The staff is attentive and very knowledgable about both food & drink menus. Tasting menu is reasonably priced, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food!

Cuisine is fresh, local focused and tasty. Nice wine selection.

But... Our nice window table included an unpleasant draft of cold A/C.

But...Lighting is so dim, it’s difficult to read the menu.

But... Our meal was spoiled by a table of 8 obnoxiously loud individuals.

Fortunately the manager saved the evening by moving us to a quiet corner for desert, and offered a comp glass of wine. Classy and...Thank you!

Would have been a neat ending except ... remember the dim light level? So another obnoxious patron was shining his mobile phone light in our and others eyes!

Who knew Wednesday was jerk night?

Still... Well Worth a try, but you’ve been warned!

WE are foodies and wines from the UK; the place recommended by an ex cook of yours; quality of food was very good; my meat balls were v good just needed a bit more tomatoe sauce; fish excellent; ambiance too dark; a bit loud; service v good. Wine : good but the list great for the connoisier yet too biblically large and few wines below $80. We would love to visit again when next in NYC. Many thanks

This was hands down one of the best dining experiences my family and I have had while living in NY for the past 5 years.

CG, our waitress, was fun, knowledgable and gave great wine and food recommendations.

The food was excellent, fresh and beautifully presented.

We will definately be back.

We were able to snag the 4 seats at the kitchen bar. Our guests, who love to cook themselves, were entertained. The tasting menu was superb, as were the wine pairings. While not cheap, the high quality of the ingredients and the preparations make it a good value.

Mother's Day was perfect. Prix fixe with options for all, including my vegan daughter. My mother was allowed to opt out of the three course prix fixe as she eats very little and they accommodated with french toast. The side room was cozy and quiet if a bit dim for brunch. Wait staff are really outstanding. Knowledgeable, efficient, kind.

The food was delicious, the Bloody Mary was perfectly spicy, everyone's food was delicious, and the portion size was just right. But honestly what sold this place to me was the service. Our waitress was sweet, friendly, and funny! She made the dining experience for the whole table.

Food was good-didn’t blow me away. I love the concept of the restaurant - but that’s the only real draw. If you’re going to serve tapas size entrees then charge tapas prices. We paid $27 for 3 meatballs with no side and $26 for what amounted to about 5 bites of lamb. The cocktail was $17. Happy to pay for great food with fair portion sizes-this wasn’t that. Also. It was one of the loudest dining experiences in nyc. Maybe something is up with the acoustics, but the only way I could hear my dining partner was by actually moving to the bar! Glad I tried it, but too many better restaurants here with better value to try this again.

I LOVE this resto! It was my second time and it was even better. The seasonal vegetables - we tried 5 different dishes - were amazing. So fresh and tasty. The Maccheroni is perhaps one of the best things anyone will ever eat. We had the same waiter twice and he is lovely and funny but not invasive. This is a great place!

Outstanding service and terrific food. My colleague has food allergies and our server was very accommodating. When we couldn't decide on a wine, he brought several for us to try to help us decide. The food was really terrific and interesting and loved that they had several gluten-free and vegetarian options. We were there on a rainy evening and the atmosphere was very cozy and perfect for such a dreary day. Will definitely go back again.

We liked Hearth but it’s definitely not worth the hype we read online!!! He brunch menu is very limited. They encourage no cell phones which is cool but also a little silly this day in age. I would try going back for dinner but would NOT recommend brunch.

Hearth has always been one of our favorite restaurants, but this is the first time we tried their weekend brunch. It was DELICIOUS! Fun options, all wonderfully well prepared, with interesting wines and even grapefruit mimosas. Excellent food, locally sourced and healthy. Bravo!

Portions too small. Server did not explain that main courses do not include side dishes. Menu description of braised sea bream was off--the dish would have been more accurately described as poached. The whole experience was just too precious.
