Brunch: Saturday 11:00am-2:00pm, Sunday 11:00am-3:30pm
What Insiders Are Saying
Hearth has been one of the East Village’s best restaurants for over a decade, and it just got a whole lot lighter and leaner.
Meatballs were very overpriced at $24 for 3 and dry (no side and bread is an extra cost). Steak tartare also over-priced and came in a small cereal bowl covered in potato chips. Unsure who thought that presentation was acceptable but it is not. Very disappointing
My experience at Hearth was exceptional. Every dish I had had amazing flavor & the presentation was fantastic. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more highly.
My husband and I had an unexpected date night here on Saturday and we were very pleased. The menu setup is great and fresh. I wish we were hungry enough to do the Tasting Menu but we'll just have to come back to try it out. Our waiter was an absolute gem. The food was delicious, especially the pate. Would try it again for the Tasting Menu and potentially a group birthday dinner.
Hearth has been a favorite for many years. The use of seasonal fresh vegetables from the greenmarket is what has put it over the top as one of the best NYC restaurants. After our last meal, my vegetarian wife described as her favorite meal of the year. Cheers Marco!
Great food and ambiance. Portions were generous and filling. While the "place your phone in the cigar box" thing felt a bit too on-the-nose at first, it was a nice reminder to be present while at dinner.
Best meatball I’ve ever had. Impressive wine list.
From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we felt taken care of. I got there a little earlier and waited at the cozy bar. As a Gin lover, I was really surprised to see “Eden is on Earth”. The cocktail did encompass the feeling of seating at the that bar, drink my Eden and smelling goodness.
The host came over to seat us at the table but we saw they had open seats by kitchen bar, where all the action was happening. If you enjoy cooking like me and my boyfriend that’s where you should be. The smell is overwhelmingly amazing. It just make you want to eat whatever they are cooking. And as a bonus you learn a thing or two.
We ordered a good montepulciano to start and we were all set to rock on our order. Sea bass crudo, steak tartare, macaroni with pork ragu, potato gnocchi. Ah we saw the polenta coming out, so we had to get one of those as well. All was fantastic but I have to give 5 stars to the gnocchi. It was the lightest gnocchi I have had, it felt like I was eating clouds that melts in your mouth. Service was on point, attentive but gave us enough space to enjoy the night.
Beyond delicious with a nice ambiance. Highly attentive and informative service.
My friend and I came to get dinner before going to a Jazz club.
I forgot my service team member names, but it was around 6:45 on a Saturday. We were offered a counter seat even though my reservation did not request one in advanced.
Being able to not only enjoy the amazing food but be completely emerged in the fine dining cooking process was amazing! I was so great full to be given that opportunity especially on a kicking night.
The management team is killer and seeing the orders be called out was as much honorary as inspiring.
Our server gave us an amazing bottle of wine to pair with our tasting menu (my friend and I preferred to just drink a bottle of Red rather than the tasting drink menu).
Trying to figure out the best part of the experience was the hardest part.
10/10 can’t wait to go back.
The food was definitely not what we expected and not worth the price. The ragu and gnocchi were too salty and the steak was burnt. We really wanted to like the place.
just terrific food, I have been there several times and can recommend everything I have eaten (fava beans, butter lettuce salad, all the chicken and fish dishes, and the lamb too, all great. Service very good, a friendly and cozy place, not frumpy
Good food, not that special but good.
Too much loud, I’d not recommend it for a romantic dinner.
The candles light is nice but actually a bit too dark, you almost can’s see what you are eating.
Food was decent but nothing special or to remember about. The environment is nice for a casual dinner. It is a tapas style restaurant and I found it to be a bit overpriced. I had the meatballs, Kate fish, beef tartare, gnocchi and the calamari.
Terrific service. TERRIFIC FOOD. Lovely Spot.
I have to say food is very good, not over the top wow factor. I just wish they had slightly more of a selection to pick from since it is a small menu and the dishes are small themselves. The waitress was very helpful to ask any question. Hearth was comfortable place to sit, not tight.
It was delicious!
This is a real, grown-up restaurant for people who want to eat delicious food and drink extremely well-chosen wine like grown-ups, have audible conversations, have room for their elbows, and general feel good about life. After 15 years, this restaurant is as great as ever.
What a pity that I can not recommend this restaurant. We had visited Hearth many years ago when we read a review in the NY Times, and I remembered a restaurant at that time that was so, so good! We are not in that neighborhood often, so I thought that this was an opportunity to return. As I said, the food was very, very good. However, the restaurant is so dark inside that one needs a flashlight to read the menu. I understand romantic ambience but this is ridiculous! Even worse were the acoustics. Since it has become acceptable for patrons to scream instead of speaking at a reasonable level the restaurant is responsible to its patrons to introduce some acoustical changes so diners can eat comfortably. Apparently guests will not change the contemporary custom to sit next to their friends & scream. I could listen to everyone else in conversations but our own. What is Hearth going to do about it? (Also, it is cheap to ask diners to pay extra for bread especially when the 2 of us paid almost $200 for dinner.)
The food was good but the service was extremely slow.
Amazing everything, brunch was new takes on classic dishes and delicious. Only suggestion, would be to turn the AC down a notch, it was a little cold.
Fun atmosphere. Manager was attentive.
Came for restaurant week, but after perusing the full menu opted for two à la carte dishes. Started with the roasted eggplant, which was absolutely fantastic - prepared with ample garlic and sunflower seeds, served with hummus. Continued with the potato gnocchi, which lived up to the hype. The eggplant actually stole the show for me.
Atmosphere is great, very cozy and inviting. We sampled numerous dishes and enjoyed them all. Potato Gnocchi and Campanella from the pastas, Anchovies & Boquerones, Chicken Liver Pate, Pork Milanese, Spatchcock Chicken, Spring Lettuces and of course, dessert! Will definitely return.
Always one of my favorite places to stop while in New York. Great authentic American food in a beautiful, homey environment. Brilliant tasting menu if you want one of the best samplings of food that New York has to offer.
Great dinner with a close friend's daughter visiting from overseas. Enjoyed sharing plates. Lots of veggie options. Fava beans salad and roasted mushrooms (recommended by server) were standouts. Mackerel prepared with crisp seared skin was also delicious. Strawberry shortcake dessert surprisingly light and refreshing. Really diverse and interesting wine list, including wines by the glass. Service was overall good, and servers and somm were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu, though we had several different people helping us, so at times it was hard to know who to ask for what. A bit pricey for the portions (even by NYC standards) but I personally prefer to pay more for a smaller plate that's really good (which this was!) than a larger mediocre one. Ambience was warm yet lively, but not too loud (again, especially by NYC standards, though it was a Monday night). Only problem was that the one whole fish dish for 2 was sold out. But otherwise would recommend and plan to be back.
The server was impatient; the food was amazingly overpriced, and the noise level was absolutely deafening.
Amazing. Great food, you could tell it was so fresh and a lot of thought was put in to each dish. Service was very attentive and server was really friendly and answered all of our questions about the food and wine pairings. Great for a date night or special occasion!
My new go to place since I am from out of town. Professional staff and true to their stated objectives. Relax and let them guide you through the experience.
Eclectic, interesting menu.
as always room was great and food perfect and server outstanding--was a birthday party-4 adults and two teenagers and everything went well--easy to be vegetarian there
one of our favorites
While we were unable to enjoy the tasting menu due to the lateness of our arrival, we nonetheless enjoyed the dining experience. Laura who assisted us and Meredith were exceptional. We plan to return for the tasting menu experience next visit.
Hearth Restaurant never disappoints!! The food is always outstanding & the wine selection is perfect. Chef Marco hit a Home Run with Hearth, not only is his Italian inspired cuisine delicious, his home made Bone Broth is Ridiculously Good!
Rare misstep hopefully not indicative of a trend. Five dishes came out within 3 minutes of each other leaving some hot plates cold by the time we got to them. Overcooked maccheroni unforgivable at this level as well
Do not get the tasting menu! We have been there twice before and had a great experience. This time, the food was terrible, they picked the cheapest things on the menu. The service was the worst it’s been, very inattentive.
Came here for our anniversary. Had the tasting menu with wine pairings and can really recommend it. Our absolute favorites were the gnocchi in butter sauce and the tartare. Restaurant was not full but it was still a bit noisy so on a busy night it could possibly be loud. The wine pairings were good but not extraordinary.
Our food was good service superbl bad. Waiter was arrogant. Inattentive. We waited an our to get our starters. Another half hour for entrees. Have inked Hearth in past. Now will not go back.
I'm pretty picky about food quality, and 2 others of our party of 5 are foodies as well. We all loved each dish we ordered. The staff are really good - thoughtful, considerate of conversations - the food was great, it was not too loud. Overall, a wonderful experience.
Excellent food and service. We shared several plates; all were delicious.
This place is simply astonishing! EVERYTHING you have heard and SO SO SO MUCH MORE!
Run don't walk -- it is some of the best food in NYC.
