Hearth Ratings and Reviews
Waiter was brusque, unavailable and rude through out meal. Cleared glasses with wine still in them. Was openly irritated by questions. My main arrived a solid ten minutes before my companion even though restaurant wasn’t full. Ruined the experience despite very good food.
Terrible service! Our server barely ever came by, after being seated, we waited about 15 minutes before someone from our party had to go find our server to ask to put our drink orders in.
On top of that, one of their servers had such an offensive body odor that every time he walked by, everyone in the vicinity had the look of pure disgust on their faces.
We had no plans for the evening, and desired something good and not-too-complicated. We'd just moved to the neighborhood from Chelsea and was eager to stay close. We'd been to Hearth with friends a while back, and took a chance to see if we could get reservations on Open Table. Success! Believe the hype -- this place is EVERY good thing you've heard or read. Honest, fresh and deliciously prepared food. Unfussy menu. Friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. Extensive and interesting wine list.
Perfect date night after moving AND hosting family for Thanksgiving in the same week!
We had the same table and waitress from before....she was wonderful. Friendly, sunshine smile, and knowledgeable. The wine list is extensive and well priced. This is our fourth time at Hearth this past year. It never disappoints. If I have one criticism, it's the noise. The ambiance was seasonal festive, but the level was too high.
I have eaten at Hearth 5 times. The food and service are consistently excellent. As I live in Peter Cooper Village, it is a ten minute walk from my apartment. Whenever I want a really good meal to impress a guest, I hasten to Hearth. My go to place used to be Union Square Cafe, so that should tell you something about where Hearth fits into the NYC restaurant scene.
An exceptional experience making for an exceptional evening. Quite simply one of the five best meals we have ever had. We participated in both the tasting menu and the beverage pairing, both of which were masterfully presented, perfectly paired, and delicious beyond review. An anniversary we will never forget, from Jefferson’s sincerity in serving us, to the food moment after food moment menu, we could not recommend this restaurant enough. Thank you, Hearth.
Hearth is a real gem. Great menu options for brunch as my little family can be finicky. I had the greens and eggs (which was really good) but everyone in our group was pleased with what he/she ate. Just wanted to give "shouts-out" to our waiter, Owen Matthews, and the host, Whitney Davis, who were both very attentive and supremely helpful. We'll definitely look Health up again when we return to the City for the day.
The service was great, but the room temperature was really cold! They were nice to turn off the air conditioning that was blowing right in our seated area. The building isn’t well ventilated - our clothes smelled like the food when we got home. The food was hit or miss. They used too much aged cheese in their dishes, which over powered the flavour. We loved the Cauliflower and duck dumplings!
First time at Hearth and food was really good. I love the small plates, and the entrees were creative and delicious. Only 4 stars instead of 5 as I found menu a little light on the greens..so if you’re in the mood for fabulous comfort food that you can share, enjoy! Wine selection was excellent, and ambience was great- tables close together but not too noisy, comfortable seating. Excellent wait staff. No waiting for table or food. Wish I had had room for dessert!
My husband and I came here to top off an anniversary trip to NYC. We wanted a nice sit down dinner and this was exactly what we got! We opted for the tasting menu and it was delicious! Service was great and the atmosphere was relaxed and fairly casual. The only thing that was the slightest bit off putting was that the tables were really close together, but I am not sure if that is an east coast thing or not. It did not take away from our experience, it was just different.
The food can be wonderful, though I ordered the Fusilli, did not like or eat it, and they took it off my bill. But the worst was that it was Saturday night and the noise was terrible. Sitting across a small table, my partner and I could barely hear each other and had to shout. I might try it once more on a weekday early to see if the noise is bearable. The hamburger, which I have had before, is excellent, without bun and a combo of meats.
