What Insiders Are Saying
Hearth has been one of the East Village’s best restaurants for over a decade, and it just got a whole lot lighter and leaner.
Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh, delicious, and thoughtful. The service was excellent and ambiance was warm, romantic, and chic. Perfect place for dinner with friends or a romantic night out. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
Excellent wine pairings (and generous pours) with the restaurant week menu.
Excellent food and wonderful service!
Our group of 5 had the most wonderful experience at Hearth. We made the decision to dine here last minute and couldn’t be happier with the choice. We all ordered the restaurant week menu plus wine pairings. Highlights were the garlic beard, gnocchi, and meatballs. Nathan was a fabulous server! We will be back.
Creative and delectable dishes!!
Loved the whole meal. Service and wine. Will make it a staple every time we visit.
Great neighborhood restaurant, very calm nice vibe, great food, great service, highly recommend-
Always good. Hearth is just down the block from me but even if it were far away, I'd still dine here regularly. The food is consistently top-notch, as is the wine list and the service (our waiter thoughtfully asked the bartender to make an old drink from their previous cocktail menu for us as I missed it). This is one of the best sure bets for consistency of quality, service, and value. It can get noisy when it's busy, but you will always have an excellent meal here.
Food was so delicious and a lovely atmosphere! We would definitely go back!
The bone broth with what tasted like cilantro oil amuse-bouche was out-of-this world. But why would they charge $2 per person for bread that’s a little bit sour than most, and the butter’s not even freshly made like Razza in Jersey City. The gnocchi was ethereal. Grilled octopus with butter beans and pesto was to-die-for although a bit salty. Maccheroni definitely a crowd pleaser. Wine pairing a little bit skimpy and needs a bit of work. Solicitous waiters. Luv the sassy hostess.
Wonderful staff, great food, and lovely atmosphere. Were able to accommodate our last minute group expansion.
Won’t go wrong at Hearth!
Food was extremely disappointing, maybe because they made a cheap menu for restaurant week but definitely not worth it at all.
Have eaten at Hearth twice now (dinner), and the second time was even better than the first. This was one of the first "farm to table" restaurants in NYC, and more than 15 years later it's still going strong. They maximize the use of seasonal ingredients, and work to find the essence of taste and texture in everything they prepare. Vegetables are featured players, not afterthoughts slapped on the plate next to a main course. it is friendly to restricted diets, and they are happy to adjust things to suit dietary restrictions. At our recent dinner i loved a dish of sauteed (very fresh) squid with green beans, white beans, and pickled garlic scapes in a cool pesto dressing. I also enjoyed a wonderful roasted spatchcock chicken (pan roasted under a brick?), with sauteed chard in a delicious jus. The staff make great recommendations for wine, and they have a simple and inventive cocktail menu. The ambiance is 1930s farm/rustic, with mismatched vintage china and glasses. All-in-all a lovely experience
Great service. They really took the time to make it an enjoyable experience.
Good brunch restaurant. We visited on restaurant week and french toast was great. Pork was interesting and pretty good. Atmosphere is great.
I planned a 40th surprise birthday party at Hearth for my sister and I cannot sign this establishment's praises enough. They were warm, caring, extremely communicative and detail oriented. The team was in constant communication with me and so incredibly flexible when it came to dietary restrictions and suggestions when it came to the menu. I was blown away by the professionalism and accommodation in a very short time frame to throw the party. The space looked perfect and so inviting and our waiter Jefferson even made a point to speak in French with my family after I had indicated that we were originally from France. We even had fun waiting at the bar where the bartender was sure to suggest a nice drink to quell my surprise party nerves and told me that everything would go perfectly and not to worry. Every single guest left the restaurant saying that they couldn't wait to go back. Hearth - thank you for making my sister's 40th birthday party a memorable and a DELICIOUS experience.
Everything was great. 4 stars because it was cold inside - AC temp too low
Food and service were amazing
As always, a wonderful dinner and a lovely atmosphere. Be sure to order the bread!
Hearth never disappoints.
An amazing experience. Food was delicious- there was nothing we did not absolutely enjoy. The whole fish was outstanding.
Our guests had extreme allergies - wheat, nuts, dairy, eggs and canola oil! The staff was incredible and accommodating.
Very expensive for what you get. $74 for a chicken
Would give the food a 10/5 stars that’s how great the food was.
It was absolutely wonderful - service was fast, but we were not rushed. The food was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was quiet and calm.
Fantastic! No longer offer the brunch prixe fix but still tasty and affordable. The box encouraging us to put our phones in and disconnect was a nice touch and welcomed. Would def go again!
A very limited breakfast/ brunch menu and small portions, the smallest ice coffee I ever had actually. Food was good and service was nice, but don’t see a reason to go again for breakfast. Dinner may be a different experience.
We had our of town friends visiting who has read about the chef. We loved the good which was simple and delicious. Even my vegan husband was very happy. The speciality drinks were
Scrumptious. Jefferson our server was outstanding.
Jarred, the sommelier, went out or his way to “get us out of our comfort zone” with wine selection!
Just a fabulous experience all round. Great food, great service and gentle atmosphere. I would dearly like to keep this place a secret!
Sat out side on a leisurely Sunday morning and had an amazing meal. Everything was EXCEPTIONAL! I'll definitely be going back to try more things...
A bit pricey for what you get, but great atmosphere.
just a great restaurant! health conscious and tasty. staff is very pleasant and helpful.
Love Hearth, one of my favorite restaurants in NY. And the staff is always wonderful.
It's a cute space but the service wasn't up to par and slow. Barely checked on us and took a while to take our order. The food was moderate, not hating. But for the price, I wouldn't say it was worth it.
Hearth is officially a must do any time I'm in NYC. I've been twice and the food never disappoints. The wine list is also exceptional.
The service was unfriendly! We had the ten dishes tasting menu. One of the dishes was simply bread and butter! I was surprised that bread and butter is a dish! The wine pairing was poor and not worth the money!
The quality of the food was okay but the taste wasn't exciting! We expected more from a tasting menu! The food has little to do with Italian cooking! We had a nice table at the window! The noise from the other tables was extremely loud!
Also this was a reservation for a birthday celebration.
The evening was not worth 300$!
Nice place. Feels homey. Went with waitress recommendations from wine to food. None was good. I guess we didn’t tried the “good” food that everyone is raving about but judging from the food we had (radish, calamari and pork pasta) I probably wouldn’t enjoy the rest of the menu. We had 4 glasses of (mediocre) wine the 3 small dishes mentioned above and a small tasteless marshmallow desert. All for 150$ before tip. Really ? Definitely a no go for me or whoever I like and asks me about this place.
Interesting but limited Sunday brunch menus. Nevertheless, a nice selection of vegan, vegetarian and meat based.
Service was excellent. Ordered cook books written by the cheff which they arranged to have sent our home in DC.
Fantastic as always. I've been eating at Hearth for over 10 years and have never been disappointed.
Third time here..previous couple of times were so much better and were clearly of much better value. Tasting menu was disappointing and the amount of time in between courses was far too long.
