We enjoyed our dinner very much. We were looking for something a bit more adventurous than the usual Ut food, we found it. Delicious!
Chef tasting was amazing!
HEART BROKEN- this was our favorite place in ogden!... the menu change. We had planned for weeks (even with a reservation) to attend with another couple. Three of the four of us had already decided what we would have- then we learned all the items were removed from the menu. The amazing burger and the brick oven ham and three cheese sandwich. None of us could find anything that appealed to us on the spring menu. We are just about to leave when the waiter suggested the "dine in ogden menu" we all chose the 6 course. The yak meatball was good but slightly under cooked. The salvation was the coffee rubbed elk and Deseret. Sadly until the menu changes we wont be back to our once FAV PLACE.
Had dinner in the lounge versus the dining room although there really isn't much difference. The menu is short with just about a dozen selections or so but the food is incredible. This is the second time eating there for a business dinner and it could not be better. They don't always have the beverages of choice in stock but come back with excellent options in its place. The food and atmosphere is what will keep me coming back for dinner whether on business or on a date night. Good food for a decent price with many local fresh ingredients!
Great atmosphere and service. The menu was a little non traditional, but pretty good
Our server was very friendly and gave us some great recommendations, he really took the time to go over the menu options. Our meal was fantastic and we really enjoyed the overall experience.
I highly recommend this restaurant. I ate here the two evenings I stayed in Ogden
Although the yak was delicious, there was barely enough there to be called a serving. It was sliced for easy eating in 6 thin strips and placed around a very small serving of fingerling potatoes. At $44 dollars a plate I expected more food. It was just barely appetizer size. The Lamb gnocchi was a larger portion, and was decent, but that was all. Just decent. The dessert (a pear trifle) was way too heavy and dry. It was like eating butter (consistency) and tasted mostly of cinnamon. For the amount of money paid, we really wanted to like this place. It was very disappointing. We won't be returning.
We spent quite a lot of money at Hearth on 25th for two people on Valentine's Day. The atmosphere was almost there to make it match the price. However, the hostesses were looking extremely casual, wearing jeans, the service staff was wearing nice looking uniforms, but one of them carried around a bright orange rag in the back pocket (it was quite gross to watch it flopping around), and one of the servers dropped off our desserts about 5 minutes after we received our steak. I asked him to take that back and to bring dessert in 30 minutes or so. Our assigned server apologized, so that was okay. Most of the tables had table cloths, but we sat at a table without one, and it was sticky. This restaurant almost has a European feel to it, but there are paintings of food on the walls instead of art. Which is also unfortunate. I don't know of anyone who likes to see pictures of food when they are looking for an experience at a restaurant. It's too bad these little things have escaped management's attention. This could be such a cool place!
Very nice Valentine's menu, the selection and wine pairings were excellent and Hailey was superb providing the service and taking good care of us. My wife and I will go back and try their regular menu soon.
The French Dip sandwich had nearly no meat! Very disappointing food.
This was our 5th trip to Hearth and our first review. This has consistently been the best restaurant we have been to in Ogden. The cocktails are bar-none the best we have had in Utah and the food has never been below excellent. It's our special-occasion restaurant because it is not cheap but it has never failed to make a special occasion... special.
Great food. Interesting and tasty cocktails and our server Michael was awesome.
The Hearth has taken over as our go-to place for special occasions. We have been there for our last to wedding anniversaries and another time in the last while. We love the service and the food. We always sit in the area with the interesting clear view of downtown Ogden's 25th street. It was a bit cool temp wise but not bad. The temp outside was single digits. The servers are always outstanding! When we noted it was our 33rd anniversary, the owner brought us two glasses of Champaign!
Slow, but friendly, service. Minimal menu.
Amazing farm to table, fresh local options, seasonal menus, and amazing service.
Nice casual eclectic atmosphere. Service was great. The charcuterie was delicious but came with no explanation of the varieties of salami and cheese. We also had the burger with truffle fries, French dip, yak steak and chicken and gnocchi. All items were delicious but the chef was quite heavy handed on the salt on the steak chicken and fries.
I have been to Hearth many times since they opened on 25th street. Always enjoyed the food there. This time I took my family there for a pre-Christmas celebration.
Pros: Excellent food and flavor combinations. Even the bread is a treat thanks to the flavored oil and balsamic vinegar dip. Great service (Thanks TJ).
Cons: This is the only negative thing I would point out, and it is minor compared to all the things that are right with this restaurant. The prices may be a little high for the quantity of food in each dish.
We were a party of 7 on the night we dined at Hearth. I started with a Title 32B cocktail, which is very good. We had the truffle fries (to-die-for) and the charcuterie platter (great meat and cheese dish with exotic flavors) to start out. For dinner we had one or more of the yak, stroganoff, salmon, pear and goat cheese salad, and new york strip steak. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful additions to each dish that make them so flavorful. We all traded a bite of our own entree for a bite of someone else's (hey, we're family). Every dish was very tasty. The service was terrific. Always there when needed.
Other reviewers have noted that the prices may be a little high for the location. I don't agree with that premise. Yes, it is pricier than any other restaurant in Ogden (as far as I know). But I think the quality of the food (almost) justifies the price. The ingredients don't know they are headed to Ogden instead of Vegas. If you want locally-sourced, truly organic, fresh ingredients, you should expect to pay a little more. At least you know what you are getting is healthy.
That being said, the quantity of food in each dish is a little sparse. Not much pear in the pear and goat cheese salad. Only 6 oz. (at most) of sliced yak in their signature dish. And while I the beef stroganoff is a better bargain than the yak, and delicious, it should have more beef tips. But as I said up front, this is a minor complaint compared to the many pros at this restaurant.
Food and drinks are way overpriced. Need to warn guests of portion size for meals. One dish could've served 3 people. When considering price, they need to realize they're on 25th St in Ogden, not Downtown SLC
One of our favorite places. Food and staff are amazing!
The only thing I have good to say is that the cute hostess that helped us with the oil and vinager was knowledgeable and helpful. It took over an hour to receive our hordervours. (fries) Justin told us we couldn't have the burger because the meat was spoiled. There was no special because they choise not to offer one. We ordered the Bordeaux on tap which was presented in water glasses after 30 mins of waiting. I could keep going..... It was not a good experience for anyone in our party. I would like to say that we were one of five tables. There was no reason for slow or bad service. I really hope it was just an off night for you.
We love Hearth .... the food is absolutely wonderful and the staff is attentive and friendly. Only thing we wish they would do is ensure they have the store to ensure we can order what they have on the menu. It seems like every time we go there they are out of critical ingredients for something we'd like to try on their amazing menu. This night they were out of cucumbers for the cucumber martini (which sounds really interesting) and the pork chop (which also looked really nice). Open note to the chef .... make sure you have stock on hand for your great menu!!!!
Elk was overcooked but I didn't say anything because I was with a client and didn't want to make a scene. The taste was good however.
The gelato was a different story. I found ground up pieces of plastic. If eaten it could have been dangerous. Again I didn't ant to make a huge deal but I did make the server aware and he removed it from the bill but that's it.
Disappointing Experience. Went on a Thursday evening; the restaurant was not crowded. Despite this, service was very slow. Entrees were very disappointing. Two orders of burgers were overcooked and cold to touch. The beef stroganoff dish was also cold to touch. The rattlesnake/rabbit pasta was only partially eaten by our guest. The server never showed up to check on us after delivering our entrees. I had to track him down. We eventually got comp'd for one meal and the restaurant gave us a complimentary dessert because we were celebrating a special event -- a nice and welcomed gesture. However and unfortunately, it could not make up for a totally dissatisfying experience. We were here 5 months earlier and had completely the opposite experience- great food and service. Again, very disappointing. We will not be back.
Been here many times, never disappointed. Excellent food and love to sample their specialty cocktails.
Knowledgeable staff, great food and service, delicious well made cocktails!
I had the yak steak and it was good. I like to order things I can't do at home.
My wife had the NY strip which was marvelous.
The food was exemplary, the service was, however, was wanting. I had called ahead for reservations and specifically told the hostess it was my teenage daughter's birthday. Instead of seating us in the dining area which is nice, we were placed in the lounge by the bar in an uncomfortable corner booth. Being new to this restaurant, I wasn't aware of the dining area till we were leaving. When I asked why we weren't seated there, I was told the lounge is more casual. I was perplexed! I had made reservations for a birthday dinner...if I had wanted a casual atmosphere I would have gone to the burger place across the street. And because we were isolated in the lounge, the servers all but forgot about us. We were literally the only ones in there while the dining area on the other side was vibrant and cheerful! It was a very disappointing evening!
Only bad thing to say was that it was very loud due to a group of cackling old biddies at the table next ti us. Everything else was great.
I lovely meal... an interesting and sustainable menu with creative options that are not presented to be artsy... but actually taste good! Fantastic service. Great wine list. Will return and recommend to friends and clients in the area.
