What Insiders Are Saying
Hearth has been one of the East Village’s best restaurants for over a decade, and it just got a whole lot lighter and leaner.
Food was bad.
Starters were too salty. Beef tartare had cheese it in which is unheard of and I got sick after eating their fish
Excellent food, chefs choice menu, and wine pairing.
The ambiance was good, but a bit crowded, the noise level could have been a bit lower.
Dishes were served at a slow pace, which allowed time to savor with the wine.
Spent 2.5 hours at the meal.
Most of the dishes were excellent.
A couple out of 10 dishes were very good.
One pork and pasta dish was a touch over salted.
One dessert was a bit too sweet.
Great food! I split the sausage and kale ragu and the French toast. Usually French toast is too sweet for me, but this one wasn’t, it was so good!! And the ragu is amazing! Tons of flavor. The Apple spice muffin was also very good, as was the yoghurt and granola. The place had tons of light, and cute, antique design twists. Definitely will return.
The ovens didn’t work when we were there. So we had cold apps and a cocktail. Was disappointed as we were looking forward to our whole black bass!
Atmosphere was very romantic and nice. We went right at open at 6pm so it was fairly empty and then we left like an hour later as it started to fill up and get busy so the timing was great. The food was delicious and plating was great, overall very satisfied will definitely go back.
Hearth continues to offer a creative menu based on healthy and sustainably produced ingredients. The service is intelligent and attentive.
This place is great !!! Took some friends here for there anniversary and they loved everything. This is my second time back and will go a third time .
the food and service are consistently outstanding. All dishes were impressive--vegetables, pastas, fish and great garlic bread.
Great breakfast! Brodo Bowl and French Toast were killer! Delicious juice!
Great food, in attentive service. We were there early and it wasn’t busy, but it took a very long time for our server to greet us and take a cocktail order, and too much time passed between his visits.
My boyfriend and I ordered the tasting menu with drink pairings. Both the food and drink selections were interesting and well prepared. The 12 dish tasting menu was served over 4 courses by 3-5 servers. Despite the fact there were multiple servers, no one ever missed a beat. When our plates/glasses were finished, they were immediately removed and new, clean ones appeared and our water glasses never went empty, always being refilled with no ice as we requested at the beginning of the meal. The food was plentiful, actually a little too much for us and everything was perfectly cooked. We particularly enjoyed the house made fresh bread (crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside served with delicious grass fed butter) and the gnocchi (which melted in our mouths like nothing I have ever experienced). Have already recommended this restaurant to several friends and hope to return next time I’m in town!!
OMG. Can’t wait to come back. Amazing, real food. The staff here are so respectful and professional. Tables are spacious, it was so compfortable. We had such a beautiful brunch!!!! Thank you
Amazing in every way!!! The food was delicious and loved our server! Would highly recommend
Worst dining experience I’ve had in a very long time. Came here for NYE pre fixe. Food was mediocre at best. Zero hospitality given from start to finish. Save your money and your time. Way better restaurants in this city.
The tasting menu with the beverage pairing option was spectacular. Service was attentive and pleasant.
The menu for brunch is quite limited. Be sure to ask your server about portion sizes and the dish components before you decide on what to order. We didn’t realize the brodo with stracciatelli was reminiscent of beef broth egg drop soup ($15 for a small bowl). The side dish of polenta was enough for only one person (barely). This restaurant would be better served to offer fresh sliced bread (at no charge) with varied egg dish options for brunch. Bloody Mary’s are good but in a larger glass, like “Cookshop” a phenomenal spot in Chelsea. The glasses reminded me of the drinking glasses at grandma’s house, with orange flowers. Hearth would be packing in crowds with a more expanded menu selection and better value for the $$.
It’s was great. Seated fast. Really great nook.
Overall, extremely happy with the meal. Probably the best steak tartar any of us have had and the tasting menu was incredibly well priced for how much food we all were able to eat as well. Absolutely would go back again.
The restaurant was full on a Saturday night, it was hard to talk as it was very noisy.
Nothing remarkable or memorable. Everyone was still hungry after dinner so we ordered more. We were annoyed that we left hungry and paid a huge bill. Server had no interest in being helpful.
Always delicious food and great service.
Nothing special. The broth is tasty and healthy but very simple and that's the theme running through most of the dishes. Feels like meals that one can cook at home and with minimal ingredients. Limited menu selection also. Sure everything is healthy but one would expect more from a good meal than just being healthy organic or sustainable. Generally left feeling underwhelmed. Duck was undercooked and chewy. The place also gets very noisy. The service was great.
Everyone enjoyed everything about the restaurant. The ambiance, service and food were all outstanding. I can’t wait to dine there again!
Delicious and great feel. Would strongly recommend. Huge winner!
Lovely & cozy atmosphere, fantastic original cocktails, superlative & scrumptious farm to table food via Nourishing Traditions cooking methods, incredible service, extensive wine list. The dining experience at Hearth is one to savor and you come away feeling deeply nourished. We will be back!
It was excellent.
The food, the service, merry Christmas!
We've been to this restaurant several times. The name Hearth evokes a warm and inviting place and that's exactly what you feel. The ambiance is great. The lighting is soft, the noise level low (even when packed), and the service genteel. When we started our last meal, we felt a bit rushed and asked them to slow down with the next course and they did. At the end, they asked if they could remove our plates. This type of service is hard to find today in Manhattan.
Despite its name, the food is primarily Italian. And the emphasis is "farm to table" so the quality is fresh. In my opinion, the food is quite good but not exceptional. Nothing I've had stands out as being unbelievably good or bad. The restaurant has broad selection of wines to accompany the food. Waiters are knowledgeable about the food and the wine.
For a cozy and intimate eating experience, I highly recommend it.
The Feast of the Seven Fishes at Hearth exceeded our expectations on our first Christmas Eve living in New York City. The uncomplicated dining room and bar bring to mind idyllic countryside kitchens, and the food continues to evoke similar memories. Fish and shellfish shined in every course before dessert, supported by an ensemble of fresh beans, sauces, broths, and greens.
We will be back soon.
We love you; you can do no wrong. PERFECT.
This restaurant is a finely kept secret! You will not be disappointed! I’ve eaten here 4 times and have been overjoyed by the quality of food and reach of service! From the chef to staff, they aim to make your experience a dining event to remember!
Always wonderful. Simple perfectly calibrated dishes. The gnocchi leviate and are not to be missed.
Delicious and thoughtfully sourced food. Great ambiance for dinner with close friends and family. Really lovely restaurant overall.
Food was absolutely delicious and our server was so great. Instead of the tasting menu, we just selected a couple of grains dishes, a vegetable dish, and 2 meat dishes and were very full and content. They even gave us complimentary wine to celebrate. A very memorable anniversary!
As always... simply delicious
Very good food and nice staff. I don't give it more stars because there were many dishes from the menu unavailable, perhaps a bit too many given that it was Saturday night and the menu is already not that long.
Impeccable as always. Hearth never disappoints. The wine pairing option is very much worth it.
We loved the food however we were seated 45 minutes after our reservation and front desk very unorganized
we got the tasting menu, everything came out great
Great spot and meal! Definitely will be coming back!
Food was wonderful and our server was fantastic.. knowledgeable, responsive... it was a great time!
