Headwaters Restaurant at Millcroft Inn & Spa Ratings and Reviews
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay. The only problem we encountered was the noise at 2 p.m. from the wedding guests outside our room (210). We also thought that the room could certainly use a much larger TV set. The service was excellent, the staff was very professional , friendly, and especially helpful. We shall return in the future. Went on a Sunday. Took over 3 hours as they had 2 servers working and the restaurant was busy. The server tried her best but could not keep up with the demand.
The 40.00 fixed menu was ridiculous as only 1 option for vegetarian soba spoonful of soup and a tiny omelette was way overpriced.
Disappointing to see 3 people standing around the check in reception desk doing nothing and the restaurant so mismanaged with staffing for kitchen and the device personal.
3 hours I won't get back so will not make that mistake again.
We went to the Millcroft for a quiet dinner. We have been a few times before since we live in the next community. But I became disabled 2 years ago and hadn't been since. I must admit the accessibility of this facility is a complete failure. 4 accessible parking spots for the whole Inn which were taken. No reserved spots in the main parking area for us to park so the car could be closer. No seating area outside to wait while the car was parked. There is a golf cart that staff were using to get around and no offer of assistance was given; in fact, I was holding on to it while I waited for my husband to come back from parking the car and a male staff member came out and without a word to me he climbed in and moved the golf car to the other side of the drive which threw me off balance. As I struggled to regain my balance using my cane and nearly fell over he looked at me and said "is something wrong with you". I said what had happened and noted that there were no disabled parking spots and no benches for me to sit and he had moved the cart which I was holding onto for support. He told me there was a bench inside. I said that doesn't do me any good since I am not inside. As it turns out the bench is antique and looked like it is only about 15" from the floor. Much too low for me to use and it is up a ramp so not usable to me at all.
The food was wonderful. But know it is a busy restaurant so there is a lot of movement and noise. Since I was thrown off by my experience just trying to reach the restaurant I found this triggered my condition and the wait between courses too long so by the time dinner was served I only wanted to leave. This in no way was a reflection on the food or service which were both wonderful, as we remembered.
We chose to walk back to the car as there was no place I could comfortably sit and wait for my husband to get the car. This took a long time.
We ordered the striploin steak and we ended up getting a tiny 2oz piece of meat (mine had nerve thru out); the garnishe it came with did not go with the dish as the flavours were too intense from pickled mushrooms (menu said it came with both pickled and roasted mushrooms but, I only got the pickled) & some green spinach/brie sauce.
The appetizer was okay. For dessert we ordered the apple banock and was dissapointed as it looked amatteur plus, tasted hard and stale. The presentation was lacking as the banock was a few balls of overfried doug. Plus, it must have been fried a while ago as it was hard and did not taste fresh.
We were there last year for Easter and loved it as the quality of the food was much higher. As we had a good experience the first time we decided to book for Thanksgiving but, left dissapointed and felt the high prices were not justified for what we got.
We re-visited Millcroft Inn for Sunday Brunch this past week-end after many years since our last visit due to living out of the country. We were delighted to find that the excellent service, wonderful food and spectacular views/ambience have not changed. We were particularly impressed with our server, Reanna. We will certainly be back as soon as we can. Definitely worth the drive from midtown Toronto!
We joined friends for a birthday celebration. Arriving at Millcroft you are met with beautiful grounds, landscaping and flowers. The Mill Pond and Falls are gorgeous and beautiful views are seen crossing the bridge on the property. Peaceful. Staff are very attentive and courteous. All tables were beautifully laid including vases of yellow roses. The menu is not extensive so the Chef is able to prepare stunning meals, exceptionally plated. The wine list exhaustive and covers all palates. Dessert menu is very interesting and again the desserts were all artistically plated, even the cheese platters. Good selection of ports, single malts and specialty coffees. While we did not stay overnight on this visit, we will remedy that soon. Well worth the short drive from Toronto.
Our night at the Headwaters Restaurant was exceptional. Everything was perfect. The service was incredible, as was the food. We had a great table that was so private and it made for a very lovely evening. I had some allergies to be aware of, and it was handled beyond my expectations.
We love this place! We were married at the Inn fourteen years ago and come back to relive the happiest day of our lives. They never disappoint. Excellent service, outstanding food and a comfortable environment make each experience there one to remember. I can't say enough.
We went for lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. Due to some road closures on the way north we arrived after the lunch menu had closed. We were given a modified bar menu and enjoyed our lunch none the less....the bonus of arriving late is we got to dine in the little alcove with 2 other tables overlooking the waterfall. If you can get a table out there do it! It's really nice as you are surrounded by glass & the view is incredible! The service was efficient and friendly enough, although our server wasn't especially warm she did her job well and didn't impact my (our) overall impression. It's a lovely country place great for special occasions, don't hesitate to have a meal there if in the area.
This restaurant is very expensive and not worth the money. You have to pay additional for a side with your main meal and the portions are small. The quality of the food does not match how much money you spend. I feel they take advantage of hotel guests by over pricing the food since there is no other restaurant close by. I have stayed at other vintage hotels such as Pillar and Post, and the food is amazing compared to the Millcroft restaurant.
Nice getaway from the city lights. Worth the drive, less than 30 minutes form Brampton.
Excellent service, food was good. Menu options limited but they may change them throughout the year. Took my wife for date night, she enjoyed it and definitely will return in the near future.
We thoroughly enjoyed the lovely service and ambiance. The noise level was louder only due to one table of people who were there at the same time as us. The scallops were outstanding, but both of us felt that the entrees were not 'amazing'. They were fine, nothing that we would complain about, just found that it was just 'fine' as opposed to the 'amazing' starter we enjoyed. Service was impeccable.
We last ate dinner in the Headwaters Restaurant 3 years ago - and it wasn't entirely memorable. The meal we had this last weekend more than made up for it. Bravo on the new menu release this past week.
The service was outstanding, and the food delicious (although the crab brie cake on top of the beef tenderloin was a bit dry and frankly, superfluous to the dish). The banana caramel tart was simply divine - and I don't have much of a sweet tooth.
Sitting in the 'pod' provided for a beautiful atmosphere. With an earlier reservation of 6pm, and only a few other couples seated at the same time, I found the background music simply to quiet to even fully hear but throughout the evening we were able to converse with one another.
We stay at the Millcroft Inn and Spa for a weekend every year and enjoy the breakfast buffet offered in the Headwaters. There is never a rush for us to finish and we are always welcomed to take our time and enjoy reading the paper and drinking our tea and coffee. There willingness to whip something up if what you desire is not on the buffet is welcome.
The recent renovations to the Headwaters Lounge are very welcome. The live music on weekends is great, the service friendly, and the ambiance very welcoming. The selection of appetizers and snacks on the menu is sufficient. I do wish there was a little more selection of beer on tap...but you can't have everything.
I return to Millcroft Inn and Headwaters because of the ambiance and the exquisite cuisine. I adore the beautiful traditional setting. The service staff is wonderful and so friendly and helpful. I do wish for a sharing plate or tapas option since there are so many wonderful authentic dishes.
Lovely lovely dinner
