Headwaters Restaurant at Millcroft Inn & Spa
Excellent service from the staff. Food was a little bland but was creatively and beautifully plated. Food and beverages are overpriced.
Melody’s service was superb on all respects
Lamb tenderloin was terrible
Way to salty and didn’t taste like lamb
All I’m in all the experience was great but the main course was very disappointing
I’ll be be back but won’t be ordering the lamb
Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Great ambience and views if seated by the windows. Food was fantastic. Highly recommend!
The patio was lovely with comp drink. We also ordered a charcuterie tray was fabulous. However later our 4 dinners were not good at all. Prices high $54 for steak and a little lower for everything else. Salmon dried out, my lamb tenderloin was tasteless and hash inedible. Fir the price it should have been amazing. It was a Wednesday night not sure if that should make a difference. Of course, being Canadian we never said anything.
Met some friends for a joint birthday dinner, service was excellent, but I felt the food was overpriced. I ordered a medium rare steak and it came overcooked, I asked if it was medium rare when it was served, and the waiter confirmed yes it was, I didn't want to make a fuss, but was disappointed.
The value proposition for Headwaters has diminished.
We have been coming to Millcroft for 10+ years. The location remains incredibly scenic however; it is plainly clear that two elements are in decline; 1) cutbacks to property maintenance - both landscaping and especially, physical property and, 2) cutbacks to staffing - no busboy/busgirl and two very stressed out waitresses. There was no linen on the patio tables and the attentive service was non-existent.
Fantastic food and our waitress was great. She even brought our dessert back to our room.
Loved the brunch and atmosphere!! Can’t wait to come back and try the spa!! Bring our bikes for the trails.
Fabulous food, atmosphere and service. In particular the hen broth was outstanding. Our only critique we could offer would be that the octopus portion in the Kraken dish be a bit more generous. 3 small pieces of octopus in the entire serving caused the dish to fall short of expectations, comparable to an appetizer portion. If portions were to be more generous in the future then the experience could be a full 10/10.
Food was amazing! We celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and absolutely loved everything. From the waterfall to the champagne, everything was perfect.
Yes, we absolutely loved it. Food was amazing. Hats off to the Chef ❤
They charge a premium price but deliver lack luster drinks and cuisine. $54 for a beef tenderloin dinner, asked for rare and it was medium at best, 3 shrivelled over cooked asparagus, and a small potato tube which was supposedly filled with bone marrow foam but it was invisible foam. Oh and some greens, mostly chives and 3 mall pieces of endive. The entire resort is ru down looking and tired needing a major Reno. I'm happy that I didn't stay overnight.
Very disappointed as we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and it was a real let down from previous visits.
Very lovely waitress. We were served the wrong wine .. the name Argentinian was the same but we were brought the red instead of the white.. it took a long time to get the white from the cellar. But it was corrected so that was good. Glasses not the cleanest..
Wonderful and creative food, beautifully presented. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful in making suggestions. Great wine list also.
enjoyed the meal, however menu is very limited. After 2 times at Headwaters I feel that I have no reason to return
The service was amazing. Fred was our waiter and he was lovely with a good sense of humour. The quality of the food was great and the view of the waterfall was perfect. The vegetarian option was okay, the cauliflower a bit tough and flavourless, however the spinach lentils were good. My husband loved his duck meal, the drinks were delicious and the lemon mousse dessert was to die for!! Thanks again for a lovely time.
This time Headwaters did not live up to my expectations. The food presentation is excellent but the taste left something to be desired. Ambience was excellent. Service was ok but not experienced. All things considered for the quality of food it was overpriced. I’m not sure we’ll go back.
We were delightfully given a corner table overlooking the falls for our anniversary! Service was outstanding, meal was superb and great wine selection. Highly recommend for a special occasion!
Two years ago I had a dinner in Headwaters and was impressed by outstanding delicious food. Booked a table for my birthday dinner this week. This time I was surprised by outstanding waiting time... 20 min to place an order, 20 min to get a drink, 1 hour to get a main. And they had only 4 -5 tables occupied! Food is still good, but not excellent anymore, but presentation of the food is really amazing. Veggies that I had on site, were totally under cooked. My habby had a duck for the main and could barely find 3 tiny pieces of duck. Desserts - that what I really liked. Overall it looks like the restaurant is slowly going down.
A little noisy on this visit but then the Raptors were winning!
Apart from that excellent as usual.
Very high level fine dining with small portions and exquisite plating. The service was very good and the setting is very comfortable and pleasing. The costs are high and I would say deservingly so.
To start, the service was very good. Fred is a real pro but he deserves better food to serve.
I was very disappointed with the food. I was expecting a top flight meal yet each course was mediocre at best. The serving of risotto with peas for $22 was miserly and bland. I had the lamb tenderloin. It truly lacked flavour. My girlfriend felt the same way about her duck. The leg (confit) and the sausage were pretty good but the breast was also bland. The blueberry pavlova for dessert was hard as a rock, almost like it was from the day before. With each course, we felt increasingly let down as the beautiful surroundings suggest a wonderful experience is at hand.
For $220 (excluding wine), I won't be going back.
Food too expensive for what we received
Exactly what I had expected on a luxurious retreat out to the Millcroft Inn & Spa. The food was delicious with friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. My only constructive feedback would be to watch the frequency of the check in to our table. There were two newer servers being trained by more experience server and while we appreciated the attention, it almost got disruptive to our evening when we were asked how everything was going almost every five minutes by different members, three waitstaff plus the table hostess. Thank you but sometimes less is more!
Overall experience was fantastic! Staff is extremely attentive and food was excellent. Menus is a little limited with prices at the top end. River views are amazing but could be enhanced if exterior of windows could have been more clean (as difficult as I’m sure that would be!)
The vegetarian option was very bland. But the service was amazing!
One of the best restaurants in Caledon recommanded for a special occasion, romantic dinner or just for an occasional walk by great culinary experience in a perfect ambiance.
Service was really good! We ordered the High Tea and it was good. Sandwiches could be a bit more delicate like the traditional british tea sandwiches and more flavorful.
Their scones were good specially with their homemade honey and cream. Sweets could be better too!
Overall, we liked it! Way better than high tea places in Toronto. Our server was super nice and made the experience amazing.
The place needs a bit of renovation I believe. It would be great to make it more fresh and bright.
We will recommend it to our friends for sure!
Enjoyed a wonderful High Tea.
Beautifully presented and prepared. Met our food allergies request and had wonderful service.
We had a lovely time! It was the perfect place for us to enjoy some fantastic food and wine.
The service was Impeccable and the food was excellent. Really enjoyed ourselves.
We went on Mother’s Day. We were the last seating so it was fairly quiet. We were not rushed by staff and enjoyed our experience. The staff replenished our tea and it was very enjoyable.
Superb menu, superb meal and excellent service once again
Haven’t been in over 20 years... The most memorable item from that night was dessert and this year’s dessert was equally memorable! So worth it ;)
Everything about our experience at the Headwaters Restaurant was amazing! From the caring and incredible staff to the delicious food. I would just like to thank every one of the staff from the bottom of my heart for making my proposal to my fiance a night we will never forget.
Very attentive non rushed service.
Beautiful presentation and taste.
We were given given gift certificates to Vintage Hotels & picked this location for convenience and the hot spa to enjoy our wedding anniversary.
It was the perfect choice!! The management and staff were wonderful! On arrival there was a bottle of wine waiting in our room, at diner we were given the finest seats, the meal was perfect, the atmosphere was the best!!
The only blemish on the night was when we were leaving in the morning we noticed that the Hydro One truck that was parked beside us the night before had left and struck our car, leaving damage. When we checked with the front desk it had not been reported!!
This was very disappointing however this was no fault of the Management or staff of the establishment & the person on the front desk was very apologetic.
Thank you for a wonderful night & we will return again!!
Impeccable service and food nicely cooked and well presented. Everyone in our party of 6 thoroughly enjoyed their choices.
The prices are a bit shocking-double what we usually pay at a good restaurant in Toronto.
Nice environment - woodsy with a waterfall lit up at night.
Fred and Melanie, while we’re sure they’re others, are wait superstars!! Engaging, knowledgeable and quick to pick up on just the right amount of humour and professionalism necessary. Give the gentleman the small dessert spoon Fred, and make sure madame orders the, ahem...9oz Melanie! Overall, once again, a lovely experience.
Absolutely perfect evening. The food was exceptional, service even better. Jackie went above and beyond. We, also, very much appreciated their flexibility and creativity with our diet. We will be back, and will recommend to friends and family.
