Headwaters Restaurant at Millcroft Inn & Spa
Absolutely perfect evening. The food was exceptional, service even better. Jackie went above and beyond. We, also, very much appreciated their flexibility and creativity with our diet. We will be back, and will recommend to friends and family.
We picked to stay at Millcroft Inn and spa for our anniversary, we chose the stay and dinner package. The staff are very nice and accommodating, Melody our waitress was awesome very friendly and outgoing. Food was very good. The bed was comfortable however the pillows were too firm and we both slept terrible. Nice place very relaxing but to me over priced.
Food is way over priced for what you get 50 dollars for beef tenderloin Breakfast poor selection for people who are gluten free better selection at McDonald’s Breakfast was 17 dollars not much selection for buffet no yogurt or fresh melon
The dishes are somewhat too salty; otherwise, they are perfect.
The serving time is a bit longer. If it can be shorten, that is really superb.
We made a reservation for noon on a Saturday, at the beginning of March Break, but it was unnecessary.
Although the Inn was near fully booked, the dining room was not. The menu is quite pricey for lunch, but the food was very good. Limited daily choices, which allows the kitchen to focus on each dish - appropriately 6 appetizers and the same number of full entrees. Table service prompt, although meal delivery takes awhile, especially for lunch. We were seated at the window in a small room overlooking the waterfall. It’s the best table in the house, but the entire dining room (including this room) is in dire need of an update. The old, tired decor takes away from the romance of the Mill. The building is indeed historic and should remain so, but the tables, chairs and carpets need not be. Even though the view is lovely, there are many tables in this cramped space, again taking away from the allure. Pity the windows through which the view is enjoyed cannot be easily cleaned!
The food is excellent if quite overpriced. However the worst possible thing for the chef is the darkness in which the food is served. One cannot see and therefore truly appreciate the colours, textures or even the ingredients in the wonderful dishes for one reason only - the eternal dusk that permeates the dining room, requiring the poor customers to whip out their phones and light their way into perusing the menu and then their plates.
Food was way overpriced and quality of it did not at all coincide with prices charged. All in all quality of food was on par with fast/casual restaurant and not a high end place that they are making themselves out to be. Will never come back to it and will not recommend anyone this place at all.
amazing service and beautiful atmosphere! the food was amazing, it’s our favourite place to go for tea!
Great food great service. Fine dinning at its very best.
Server Jacqueline was great
Food was amazing, service was amazing , great selection of wines
Food was great, view of the waterfall was amazing and the staff are just spectacular!! The staff really makes this place
Went for lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We sat in the pod overlooking the waterfall. Service and food were excellent! Lobster bisque was amazing!
We always love going to Headwaters restaurant. The food is always amazing, the ambience is so comfortable and the staff are wonderful.
We went the other night, not for a special occasion this time, but just to go. Everything was fantastic, from the warm fresh bread, to the main meal and everything in between. Melody looked after us and she is an absolute STAR. She made us feel welcome and at ease while still remaining professional. She was there at the right times offering drinks, asking how everything was without being overbearing.
I can't wait until the next time we go back!
Everything was fantastic, food, service, the bed and breakfast ETC. The only thing was that when we booked the lady told us that the breakfast with our package was only $10.00. When we went there we found out it was $17.00, which is honestly not a big difference but still. When I told the manager as well as the server they did nothing about it.
Perfectly cooked ingredients, especially seafood, finally a place that strive for excellence, worth the drive just for the appetizers!
To be quite honest.... & I never like being negative but I wasn’t all that impressed !!! I reserved for the Christmas Day set menu Dinner .... I thought it was a little expensive for what you got .... portions were small & one complaint is that I ordered the halibut which came with a purple potato side.... it was really BAD tasting... almost inedible.... I don’t usually complain but I was not impressed at all & I love almost everything !!!! The guy at the table next to me ordered the same dish & I noticed he couldn’t eat the potato also ... so I know it wasn’t just me who had a problem with it .... otherwise, everything else tasted very good !!! ... it’s a lovely place & a nice place for a special occasion.... it’s not that I won’t come back , but my only advice for the restaurant is I think you need to remove the purple potato from your menu ... it’s not good ... 😐 sorry !!!
We have been visiting Millcroft Inn for Christmas brunch for several years .. sometimes with family when they come to Ontario. The selections from the menu and wine list are fantastic, and the mill is always tastefully decorated for the season -- an added bonus to the already beautiful natural setting. The servers are WONDERFUL people, always hospitable. Millcroft Inn should take particular pride in their delightful friendly staff who mingle attentive service with professionalism. We shall return! In the meantime, don't change anything! :-)
Food, ambience and service were all excellent. Very cosy atmosphere on a cold winter evening. This spot is totally worth the drive. The staff take great care to ensure that you are happy.
Food was incredible. Live music was really nice. We felt a bit forgotten about at dinner though. We got our main dishes from a helper and wanted to order some wine and our server never came by to see how things were. Finally half way done our plates, a lady from the front desk finally walked by and helped us. She brought us a glass right away.
Again no one filled up our waters... just a bit forgotten about.
Funny at the end when our server gave us our bill he shook our hands and was overly polite and nice... I kind of laughed inside a bit as what, he decides to give us some service all of a sudden when he’s in the middle of giving us our bill. Lol.
Not sure where you could find such a great combo of value, venue, food and service.
Fabulous view from the dining terrace!
The staff were wonderful, friendly and professional and the food was tasty. However I found the menu limiting to entrees that were way overpriced. Would not be for everyone.
The experience was wonderful, however, I think the price is on the high side to make it great value.
All was good, though a slightly larger draft selection would be nice.
A sidewalk from the parking lot to the restaurant would also be nice.
Beautiful old mill situated adjacent to a waterfall in the quiet town of Alton. Lovely staff who were very polite and accommodating. Amazing and romantic atmosphere with dimmed lighting, candles and roses on the table. Great for a date night, birthday or any other special occasion. Would definitely recommend to all my friends and family!
Great food and service. We love it here and come back regularly
The appetizer team is amazing, the trout is the most tender and most excellent piece of work I have ever tasted. The surprise lime sorbet after the slightly heavy appetizer is just right on! How did they know I was falling asleep after the appetizer, the lime sorbet just woke me right up, perfect timing, perfect taste, pleasure to the taste bud and also functional for palate cleansing, amazing design of the courses!
Lovely view! Great service and excellent quality food.
Our experience was amazing. We were celebrating our 45th Wedding anniversary on Nov. 24th and had dinner at the Millcroft Inn. We were greeted with "Happy Anniversary" and promptly seated in the lovely gazebo area with the beautiful view of the falls. Our waitress Jackie was exceptional. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and informed us about our choice of meal.
The food was fantastic - truly a "tasteful experience"!
We definitely chose the best place to celebrate our Anniversary.
Will visit again next year!
We had a beautiful anniversary dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the live music was a bonus. We were delighted by the amuse-bouche surprise and palate-cleansing sorbet between courses. The food was excellent, and teas and dessert were delicious. Thanks for a great evening.
Excellent service, beautiful scenery and we lucked out and got the best spot in the resturant because we booked early. Definately worth the drive, we had a short stay but i still felt like i really relaxed and got away from it all. Thanks to the great staff!
We enjoyed a lovely menu on a quiet Sunday. Great service and all the dishes were promptly served by the staff. Brie was lovely and provided us with all the necessary information and great advice.
Slow slow slow service. 30 min for water and drinks and a 3 course meal took over 3 hours. Food was great but totally killed rest of evening.
The best food I have eaten. Ever.
The service was outstanding! Great, great server. The food was ok, just ok. Value for the money was not there. No one at the table raved about the food. They talked about the atmosphere, the server, the location but not the food.
I might return for an overnight stay and eat in the lounge, but unfortunately, husband and I would not return for the dinner menu.
I wish I could have given a great food review.
I was most disappointed with our dining experience. Right from the moment we arrived, the front person was not pleasant. We were sat at the back of the restaurant and I realized as more arrived that we were sat far away from other groups. It was even awkward for the other tables to see we were purposely sat there because we had kids. My kids are 9 and 10 and welll mannered kids and we were with grama. We were forgotten and we would ask for more water and after 20 min waiting to order dessert, I approached the waitress for the bill. We have dined at the Elora Mill since reopening, with kids, and they treat my kids like royalty! We chose these restaurants for good customer service but it was clear to us... not kid friendly, in fact, our experience is Millcroft is anti-kid!
Our server, Debra, and Kyle, we're great. The Mushroom Puree was oh so good, better than we expected. The Beef Duo was unexpectly tasty, and our filet was grilled perfectly. The dessert was tasty. We really appreciated the great food and the great service from the service team. Kudos to the cooking team. We appreciated the way the food was created from flavours and ingredients we could only appreciate how well they went together when we dug in. Oh do good. We are planning to come back in the spring.
My husband and I loved the place, the view, ambiance and Amy our server.
Highly recommend, a wonderful spot for a special occasion!
