Heads & Tales is a unique underground venue located down the stairs and behind a non-suspecting wooden door. Located within you can see our two Edinburgh Gin stills Flora and Caledonia.

We are all about cool cocktails that look great and taste even better. Try our extensive range of gin cocktails, or go for one of our popular 'traitor' cocktails. Not sure what to have? Let our bartenders know what you're into and they'll be able to knock something up just for you.

First thing I noticed was the torn arm rest on one of the seats we were directed to. Drinks were fine and small plate of Taco’s were excellent. But we both felt the experience was just not as good as the previous time we visited which was a few years back. Maybe we were there just a bit early(5pm). But that seat needs replaced or repaired.

It was advertised as serving dinner until 1030 which is why we booked it. We arrived hungry but the kitchen had closed for the night.

This was a cool place to grab a cocktail and the food was delicious too. It is like a cave and has a nice ambiance. I found this place because I was looking for something close to Ghillie-Dhu. Ghillie-Dhu had great reviews, however, skip that place and just go to Heads &Tails.

I'm sorry to hear that you were a bit disappointed with your drinks. All of our drinks are priced by the amount of alcohol in the drink rather than the volume of the drink itself. This can be why some drinks appear to be much larger than others, when they actually have the same alcohol content, some just have more non-alcoholic ingredients than others. We had a cheese board which we need to complain about as not much cheese but loads of butter and found a piece of plastic! The guy who served us sorted so very well - spoke to manager got another cheese board and gave us a complimentary drink at the end - his service was outstanding. We also had the fish taco which were lovely. Drinks and ambience very nice. Thanks

Excellent service, food & gin cocktails. Not crazy busy so our party of 5 got to stay longer than the 2 hour slot. We were off in a side room from entrance so no vibe from rest of lounge. But great for our party to visit and caught up.

Amazing service, but the food was really disappointing. The cheese board was tiny for £20, the cauliflower way too fried and stodgy, and the other items we had were just average. The cocktails however were lovely.

Great speakeasy vibe at this basement level adjunct of the Edinburgh gin distillery. Excellent cocktail menu with their own take on a Negroni but plenty of classics as well as non-gin cocktails. The bartender was top notch, every drink was a winner. Nice low light ambience makes for a great before dinner location but plenty of small food options to help you extend your stay. Enjoy!

Great staff, great service. Really went above and beyond to accommodate us. Highly recommended! It was my brothers 60th birthday. Free of charge bottle of prosecco on arrival and they allowed us to bring our own cake. The team took the cake, cut it and served it to us too. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff.

We never ate here so can't comment on the food but will be returning as we had such a lovely time. The service was outstanding, we had said we were celebrating a birthday and as soon as we sat down we were welcomed with a celebration prosecco, such a nice touch. Extensive gin menu with something for everyone.

This place was so great. A hidden gem. The vibe is everything. Good service, good drinks, good snacks. Wanted to stay all night. Suggest making a rez if you are a larger party or it’s the weekend. The food is just nibbles, but delicious and was plenty for us. We went two nights is a row it was so good.
