   We arrived a bit early for our 7:15 dinner reservation. Our waitress welcomed us after few minutes. We immediately ordered wine and our entrees and decided on cheese plate special. The wine and cheese plate came in a timely manner. However… one hour later ( after nobody came for wine or water refills … or ANYTHING) I caught our waitress’ attention and asked about our entrees. She has forgotten to put in our order. The manager appeared and apologized but we were DONE by then. Everyone around us has gotten their food and finished it. The service was absolutely HORRIBLE. The food might have been good but we will never know as we got up and left. I would not recommend this place for dinner. They did have an excellent piano piano player … So maybe stop by for drinks and good entertainment. But you’ll need hours to sit before you get your dinner.

   Oh wow. This restaurant was so good we wanted to return our second night in Lexington. Loved our waitress Crystal and talked with the owner, who was very charming. Excellent choice. Thank you to the staff! ❤️

   Three of our party had steak. It was delicious! Two of us had the halibut special. It was phenomenal. Loved the atmosphere and piano playing.

   We had the tenderloin and two specials of halibut and grilled romaine salad. All outstanding. Service was prompt friendly and unobtrusive. Menu is limited and prone to substitution but we had great choices and enjoyed the experience very much. The chocolate dessert was dense and divine. We shared it and it was memorable.

   Mother's Day brunch was excellent. My wife especially enjoyed the dessert bonus along with the massage. We loved both the eggs benedict and the steak and eggs. Haywoods and Taps never disappoint.

    Despite having a reservation for 4 and that there were obvious open tables in other portions of the restaurant, we were seated right by the front door. Very noisy as groups of people came into the restaurant. They refused to move us. Really made the entire meal a poor experience, especially for Mothers Day. Won’t be back.

Sometimes on a busy day like Mothers Day it is by reservation and we just do not have the availability to give everyone the particular seat they want.     Nice restaurant with a good food that generally met expectations. We were there fir Mother’s Day and were disappointed they sat us at a high top table. I asked for a standard table but they said they expected a lot of people. There were several standard 4-person tables that remained vacant while we were there. We just did not feel like a high priority.

    The filet and salmon entrees were excellent as was the flourless chocolate cake. We were disappointed that several items were unavailable, so one of our party did not get his first choices on either appetizers or entrees. The steak tartare was a bit odd tasting which is unusual for Haywood's. Service was terrific-friendly, professional and efficient!

    Happy to discover this gem. Service was warm and delightful (even though our waitress had two big party tables). The cream of zucchini soup was delicious, as was my rib eye. Butter soft and expertly cooked. The owner and chef stopped by, but not in an intrusive or cloying way. The atmosphere was loud, but tolerable and the piano player was an added treat. The only negative comment I can think of is that the menu was rather limited, but that didn’t diminish the overall experience. Can’t wait to return.

    We enjoyed our dinner. I ask for a quiet seating location and they put us right next to the bar so that didn't work out. VERY noisy. Food was fine, but not great. Drinks were the best part of the meal. There aren't many options in Lexington, VA so for fine dinning this is probably still the best choice.

    The sign out front said "Best Steak in town". It didn't live up to the hype. I order the Ribeye and my wife ordered the filet. We both ordered them medium rare. Hers came back raw. We had to send it back and wait another 15 minutes to be cooked to our specifications. The other thing that bothered me was both steaks came with the same vegetables and potatoes. There were no options for other thing other than their garlic mashed potatoes. How about a baked potato?? I also ordered my steak with the tarragon sauce on the side after seeing the table the steak at the next table swimming in the sauce.

    Great atmosphere and food. Steaks were cooked as requested (and so tender!) and food came out quickly. Service was attentive but gave space for dinner conversation. Would definitely dine here again!

    Dinner was outstanding. Chef Xavier is the real deal. He is a perfectionist and you can taste it! He’s always willing to accommodate my high maintenance needs of extra dressing and extra sauce. I highly recommend either of the steaks… chef’s Bernaise is out of this world. The staff is excellent. Very friendly and also accommodating. Can’t wait for my next visit!

    I was really looking forward to dining at Haywood’s. It was part of a birthday getaway for me and my husband. We sat at a nice table until we realized the air conditioning was blasting down our necks. We ordered a nice bottle of wine, skipped appetizers and ordered our entrees. These took so long to arrive at our table that a party of three came in, we’re seated next to us and ordered and ate appetizers and entrees before anyone even came over to inform us of a “mix up in the kitchen”. It must have been a good hour before we got our food. No apology until we had finished and were offered free dessert for our inconvenience. We had our heart set on the cheese tray which we ordered but could not get any French bread because we were told the kitchen had turned off the ovens. While attempting to eat our cheese the staff started removing all the dining chairs from the restaurant to set up for breakfast. It was 9:30. We felt rushed and ignored. We were so over the poor service that we left before finishing the cheese tray and our wine. It ruined a what we thought was going to be a nice dinner. Such a disappointment. The food was unimaginative and just so-so. Overpriced and pretentious and really bad service.

    We came to explore Lexington and the surrounding area for a day. Made a reservation at Haywood's for their Valentine's Day prix fixe menu, and I'm so glad I did. First, the service was so friendly and charming. While I can not remember our server's name, he was doubling as a very capable bartender in the piano bar area. He has a great energy and recommended cocktails that were delicious. Our host and food runners were also very nice and helpful. Second, the entertainment. I LOVED the piano player. The songs were great, the volume low enough to have conversations with each other yet loud enough to hear. I've read other reviews that didn't like the piano, but not me. And frankly, there are other places to sit to not hear it. To me, it helped make a darn near perfect evening. Finally, the food. It was just DELICIOUS. The radicchio salad was deliciously balanced between the dressing, sweet nuts, and bitter leaves. The foie gras was in the most delicious mushroom sauce, the lobster sweet and soft, the filet perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the molten lava cake delicious. We couldn't finish it all. I also should mention the space. It was so cozy and lovely. If you're considering Haywood's, do it. You won't regret it.

    This was my first visit to Haywood's. I have been excited to dine there after passing by the restaurant many times. The restaurant itself is cozy and intimate. They had live music that was pleasant to enjoy while dining. We had made reservations and were seated next to the bar. Very comfortable seating away from the cold! Dinner was delicious and the steak cooked just as we asked. If my review was based just on the above, I would have left a 5 star review. However, service was very lackluster. The waiter was very energetic when he greeted us but after our drink orders were taken, it went downhill from there. I feel as though we were completely forgotten about and not because he was too busy. I say that because he was seen at the bar talking to other staff, too loudly as he was told to be quiet by a coworker, making cocktails - any thing but asking if we would like more bread, more water, clearing our plates after finishing entree, etc. I enjoy a long dining experience, however I do not like to have long conversations over food plates that should have been cleared over 20 minutes ago. I will go back as the food was good and maybe I will be lucky to have a different server.

    When we made the reservation we were not told it was going to be only prix fix menu that night. We had seen the menu online and thought it had some resonably priced offerings. But those weren't available to us. So we spent well over $400 unexpectedly. Since we were taking guests with us it was too awkward to refuse to order food. That kind of circumstance should be made clear at time of reservation.
