This is a wonderful place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is in a beautiful setting with Haydn Lake views. The wait staff was excellent. The food was very good. It's nice because on weekends, you can order breakfast or lunch during brunch time. Also - we had reservations, but it wasn't crowded. This is a fun place to hang out at on sunny days if you'd like an outdoor restaurant.
Excellent food and service
I have been asked to leave a review. I don't think it is fair to leave a review when we visited on a holiday - Easter.
Great Easter brunch. Good selection and all the food was hot.
Easter brunch
Nice place! Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen emergency with another diner, we were relegated to a booth with no view. Under the circumstances it was fine, that is the only reason I have four stars for the ambiance. The staff was wonderful and the food we ordered was yummy! I’ve dined here many times, and it is fun outdoor dining when the weather permits.
Fabulously delicious food. Great efficient service. View of lake is lovely.
Waitperson seemed rushed and brief but food was very good. Several mistakes on orders
We've dined here on multiple occasions and have always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately this time the food was subpar. It's pretty difficult to mess up plain scrambled eggs but they had obviously been cooked and then left to sit long before they were served to us. Others around us received complimentary pastries and when I asked about them, they brought out one small muffin for my daughter but not for the rest of the table. All of our dishes were mediocre in taste and presentation and it was expensive. We did not send anything back or complain but we will not be returning.
I went because I wanted the seafood paella and it was outstanding. There was ample seafood with salmon, whitefish, clams, mussels, and shrimp with the saffron rice. The location on the man-made lake was beautiful and I walked around it before dinner.
We went for Valentine’s Day. Food was good, ambiance was nice as well. However service was quite slow. Overall a nice evening.
This was the most wonderful crab feed I have ever experienced. We were treated like queens by the fun and attentive staff. The crab was huge- 2 lbs!!!! along with salad, potatoes, crayfish, jambalaya, french bread and wine. Delicious!! A crab fix. We had so much fun and will be looking forward to the next special event from Hayden's
Great experience!
Found a table in the bar during happy hour. Ordered drinks to unwind till our dinner reservation. Friendly staff. Busy happy hour. Dinner felt a bit rushed. Great food though. On our reservation we shared it was our anniversary but there was no acknowledgement by any staff.
I loved this restaurant. We sat by the window with a view of the water. The staff was very kind, timely and accurate. The food was delicious. We had Tritips and a pasta dish and both were excellent. We also got the extra lobsters on the side - a special they were offering this month. I will be returning many times for more great food and service with ambiance.
The food was great. It wasn’t super busy and we were sat at a very small table and everything seemed to move VERY quickly. In the future I would hesitate on ordering as fast as we did this time. We were in and out in 40 min with drinks appetizers, salads and dinner. Special occasion was not acknowledged, however it wasn’t very busy so maybe the reservation wasn’t looked at.
We are traveling, stayed overnight in Tualatin to have some custom work done on our van. It was a very rainy night and we were looking for somewhere to have a nice meal that was close by. Hayden’s was perfect, from the friendly bar with substantial drinks, to a delicious dinner, with something on the menu for everyone. We split a salad and still didn’t finish it. They had a special on lobster tails (when added to an entree) 2 for $8. They were small but tasty, and we split them as a first course. Our dinner entrees were fresh, delicious, and large portions. For wine, there was a special house Pinot noir made by the owner (in addition to many other fine choices). All in all, it exceeded our expectations.
Food and service was great went two weekends in a row
Everything was great yeah!
Always an enjoyable dining experience. Great ambiance. Wide variety of food selections. and friendly staff.
Good choice for a Thanksgiving buffet. Lots of classic options. They ran out of some of their dessert choices.
Great happy hour. Fabulous stiff and excellent service.
Lovely setting--consistently good food.
Hayden's Lakefront Grill--just the right setting for a long leisurely lunch catching up with friends. We were shown to a table by the window giving us a perfect view of the Tualatin Lake. The ambience was warm and conducive to conversation. We couldn't have asked for better service. The menu had changed since our last visit and our server took the time to describe each new entrée to us. Our lunches were good as we taste tested the new menu items. The relaxed atmosphere at Hayden's makes this one of our favorite lunch destinations.
The appetizer was a bit over-cooked and the entrees were delicious, as was the desserts for the birthday celebration. Sat outside by the lake and enjoyed the cool evening. Only downside was a group of teens from Newberg being rowdy while out for dinner before prom.
This was recommended by a friend as having good steaks -- and it did. The prices were not cheap, but far more reasonable than the steak houses around town. The steak was well cooked, and tender, although not astonishing. All in all a good spot for a causal dinner that didn't break the bank.
The decor is dated. The restaurant has an elevated area where we were seated that oppressive; felt like a slightly upscale Dennys. The retro lights were entirely too bright and had no relationship to the other lights in the building. The booths were like sitting in a 1970s restaurant.
The staff were kind enough to turn the lights down; the exposed filament lighting is hip in some industrial settings. Here it's just uncomfortable. The restaurant was empty which never feels good. Overall the atmosphere was sad and conflicted.
The hors d'oeuvres were surprisingly good; shrimp on delicious polenta with balsamic glaze. The blue crab cakes with a tomato raisin chutney were good. The shrimp would have been better if they were wild. The crab cakes, despite how good they were are an odd offering with east coast crab. I suspect they are purchased premade.
The entrees were not so hot; my sons fettuccini with bacon was greasy. My cioppino was really not; a watery broth with impossible to eat stone crab claws, clams and mussels were good but salmon in the broth that was billed to be cod is just weird. The broth flavor wasn't bad, it just wasn't cioppino.
Our waiter was nice and the service was good if unsophisticated.
There is some professional talent in the kitchen; just poor decision making and a confusing theme
This could be a great location; decor needs to feed to the beautiful outside deck. Lower the raised area so the dining is all on one floor; the place will feel more prosperous. Get rid of booths altogether. Lose the well maintained hanging flowers; they block the view and help make the interior feel oppressive.
The reliance on cheap, east coast seafood is an indicator of a poorly operating house. The menu needs an overhaul.
Hayden's always does a very good job. Food is consistently good. I sat on the lake with my friend for lunch. It was a beautiful sunny September day. I ordered their fried chicken salad and substituted for grilled chicken instead. And it was a low carb day for me so Hno tortilla strips and it was delish. Several options for Paleo Style eating. I always enjoy coming here.
Great fries! Everything else (burger, Mac & cheese, wings, lettuce wraps, and steak bites) was very mediocre. Friendly staff, but not very attentive.
When I reserved, I requested a lakeside outdoor table. Unfortunately they didn't actually reserve one for us, even though we arrived on time, and it was not busy. We were seated at a table of our choice in the second row - all of those were available.
Three of us were served the Sunday outdoor BBQ dinner. The 4th dinner "was on the way." Later the wait staff discovered the 4th dinner order was never submitted, so it arrived 20 min's after that - with apologies. The first wine glass order was wrong, so a second glass of wine was comped. My husband asked twice for butter for his corn...
The food was great - the service was not.
The Happy Hour Garden Salad and Tart Cherry Mojito were delicious.
Great location and make sure to request a table on the outside patio overlooking the man made lake. Only recommend brunch. Dinner is not consistent. Reservations for brunch are necessary.
Love this restaurant and it's location. We go quite oftern.
Good food I'm nice location on the lake
We celebrated a friend's birthday and dined outside for a delicious lunch. The food was excellent and served beautifully. Our server was friendly and kept an eye on our needs. The day could hardly have been more perfect.
Beautiful setting on the lake, good food and great, friendly service.
The service made our Mother's Day experience memorable. Roses and champagne for mom were nice touches. Food (except for peppered bacon that was outstanding!) was OK, desserts (except cream puffs that were outstanding!) were OK. For the value to increase, more on the menu should move from the category of standard fare or just "OK." The lake view is very nice, but we were seated back away from the window where we could not see it.
We took my mother in law, great aunt, husband and two kids to Mother's Day brunch and the food and service was phenomenal!
We went for Mother's Day brunch and the food was of poor quality and was mostly cold and almost like something they would serve in a cafeteria. The service was good but I would not go there again.
The selection for Mother's day Brunch was more than ample. There was a good variety of taste represented and there was never any lack of any dish. I would go there again, even though the cost is a little more comparatively to other brunches I've been to lately!
