Our focus is simply that. We are a full service restaurant and beer boutique with over 1,000 single bottles, 11 specialty growler fills, 11 rotating drafts and amazing weekend brunch, weekly breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located right in the Italian Market area of South Philadelphia gives us access to a variety of different ingredients allowing us to make anything our hearts desire. We make everything here from our chips to our oven roasted meats and do not limit ourselves to one cuisine. A true scratch kitchen!
What do we keep in mind when creating our dishes? YOU, THE BEER AND GREAT COMPANY!
Come in. Eat. Drink. And join us for a fireside chat! Salute!
Great food and awesome beer menu. Excellent service. Highly recommend. Nice outdoor seating in warm weather and real fireplace inside for winter.
Amazing Sunday brunch. Food was delicious I highly recommend the French toast and the breakfast sandwich! Service was also great
As always delicious food and good service.
Great place , love the brunch menu options here, one of my go to places.
My only complaint is the noise level, it gets too loud here with people around you and probably not ideal for dates if you are dining inside.
Hawthorne’s hasn’t been the same since the fire. The food is good but not great and way overpriced for what it is. I had a bagel with egg, cheese, and I added veggie sausage. It came with potatoes and cost 12.5$. Ridiculous. 3.50$ for a coffee is also steep especially since it also isn’t that good. A step or two above diner but I couldn’t even finish my one cup. Husband had the poutine and it was good but nothing to write home about. We have gone here less and less over the years and don’t think we will go again unless something changes.
We were a large party on a Sunday night. The place wasn’t busy at all but service lacked. Food was a little slow, waitress had to be reminded to bring things we ordered that she forgot. I love this place and their food is good, maybe just an off night.
Brunch was amazing!
Great brunch, nice staff, love the location.
We went there for brunch. Originally had a 12:30 reservation but ended up arriving early and they were able to accommodate us at a high top table! Service was great. Brunch food was served quickly and was delicious. Would highly recommend!!
Best Brunch. Highly recommend the eggs Benedict with spinach and short rib! Great beer selection too
Delicious as usual
This is my 5th or 6th time at here. I am never disappointed!
I usually always love the food I get from this place. This past weekend though, I wasn’t a fan of the French toast. I think it was prepared fine. I just didn’t like it. Be sure to ask about the bread before you get it because it’s not regular bread. Otherwise this place from brunch or dinner is great :)
The staff were both friendly and polite, and service was fast. The reservation through opentable was extremely easy, and we were able to get seated quickly despite the queue building up outside. The obvious popularity of the venue for brunch is entirely deserved - the food was delicious, and the selection of drinks available was excellent. The staff offered a takeaway box when the sandwiches proved to be more than we could tackle in one sitting, and I'm pleased to say they didn't go to waste later.
The restrooms were clean and obviously well-maintained, and the whole place looked both cozy and pristine at the same time. The decor was charming, and the experience was overall fantastic.
For anyone thinking about booking for a meal, I would strongly urge them to do so. The price was great, and I'll definitely be returning the next time I'm in town.
Best Brunch! Opens an 0900 and can get beer, wine and cocktails
Highly recommend the eggs Benedict with spinach and shortrib!
Hawthorne’s is one of the best family friendly restaurants in the area. The food is always good and the service is excellent.
Great beers and HUGE selection. Appetizers were great. But entrees were incredibly salty-everyone in our group agreed, so was not just one dish. Very loud (in part because of one group though).
Outstanding neighborhood restaurant. Visited our daughter whos in college in Philly, Hawthornes is around the corner, what a great find!
Great food. Always consistent. Service quick and efficient.
They get super busy but they're efficient. Great food.
We were visiting from Maryland and relatives were in from Texas. We looked online for a place centrally located to where we wanted to go. The 6 of us at the table tried something different and none of us were disappointed it was quite the opposite. Great location, great staff, and even better food. I had the Biscuits & Gravy, they were fantastic. Also at the table we had breakfast sandwich, pancakes, French toast, breakfast nachos. And it was the best meal we had in the 4 days we were in town.
Great food. Hollandaise sauce was very spicy.. unusual. Potatoes are delicious!!
Since moving to Bella Vista, Hawthrones is my #1 go to. It never disappoints whether it's for brunch, lunch or dinner. The staff is friendly and always hard working. The food is always delicious.
Fantastic food that’s super easy to share! Incredible service too. We can’t wait to go back!
I just wish it was not so loud in there! The food is good and the staff are great. It's just hard to have a conversation when it is full.
Had a 11:30 reservation ,very crowded but they shat us at 11:35. Gave us prompt service , great menu. Cant wait to return
Outstanding beer selection and excellent food choices that are sure to please and amaze. Limited vegan options, but awesome selections for everyone else.
My husband and I had a wonderful Sunday brunch here enjoying the delish Hawthorns Omelet and Bananas Foster Waffle. Both were excellent. We had a really attentive server who did a great job despite the fact that the place was packed. We would certainly come back. We loved the whole vibe including the fireplace/lounge area and the bottle shop. Try to get in there with a reservation if you can! Beats waiting for sure!
Fantastic food as alway, the breakfast enchiladas and breakfast burrito were both delicious and perfect.
This is our new go-to Sunday brunch spot! Food was spot on and delicious with great portion sizes.
Hawthornes is one of my favorite places in the city to go for a bite to eat, and they also have a great draft lift plus many bottles & cans in their multiple self-serve cases. Highly recommended.
Great service and ambience. Food was ok.
The ambiance of was great - the fireplace was perfect for a cold winter evening. I was disappointed when the beer I ordered was less than a full pint as there was no indication on the menu that some beers were served as pints and some were not. The cheese board was wonderful and our meals were tasty. I would definitely go back to sit by the fire and enjoy a nice stout.
Great Saturday brunch spot. Awesome beer selections. Food was just what we were looking for. Music selection was on point!!! Real wood fire blazing on a damp dreary day. Can’t wait to go back!!
My daughter lives in the city and invited my family in for a day to have lunch and hang out. The brunch we had at Hawthornes was one of the highlights of the day. Fantastic food, great choices and one of my favorite things was the music that they had playing in the background (great music, but at the right volume too). I would recommend Hawthornes as a great dining experience in a great part of the city. Also, parking was easy too. Two emphatic thumbs up!
Very good food, a bit pricey.
Drinks are expensive for their size.
Excellent local neighborhood place. They go out of their way to make sure your experience is wonderful. Great food.
We were a table of 8 & they accommodated us nicely. Our waiter didn’t listen very well or it was too noisy b/c we asked for cream & sugar for coffee numerous times with no response. One mug had lipstick still on it. The food was delish & the prices were fair for brunch. Work on the details, it’s the little things that make a difference.
very reliable neighborhood place. the food is always good. especially good brunch menu but all the fare is strong.
