Our focus is simply that. We are a full service restaurant with a full bar, 20 draft lines, a 50+ can and bottle list, 6 growler lines and amazing everyday brunch, lunch and dinner. Located right in the Italian Market area of South Philadelphia gives us access to a variety of different ingredients allowing us to make anything our hearts desire. We make everything here from our chips to our oven roasted meats and do not limit ourselves to one cuisine. A true scratch kitchen!
What do we keep in mind when creating our dishes? YOU, THE BEER AND GREAT COMPANY!
Come in. Eat. Drink. And join us for a fireside chat! Salute!
It feels like Hawthorne's is still adjusting to the "new normal" which is okay. The service was VERY slow. By the old standards it would have been outright bad service. It took a very very long time to even get our order in. Getting refills was equally challenging. I'm not killing their rating because everything was great and the server was very pleasant. I know it's going to take some time to get into the flow of things. This should get better. It was a big enough issue though that anyone dining there should be prepared for this.
Great service and staff. Very covid safe, I would bring my grandmother here it’s so safe
Excellent food! Nice people! Great service! I highly recommend it!!!!
Food was great and having it come out in to go boxes was convenient. It was super hot outside and limited seating in the shade. However, the service was great and accommodating. Highly recommend!
Great service. Definitely need umbrellas for outdoor seating.
Our server was delightful!
I was so impressed with Hawthorne’s social distancing set up. It felt very safe but not oppressive. The food was amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
It was definitely a great place to have brunch with a friend especially on a hot day! The service was great and they do a wonderful job ensuring the social distancing precautions set in place during the COVID-19 pandemic! The food was also delicious and definitely worth the price! Would definitely visit again!
Eating with plastic and paper diminished the pleasant outdoor experience. We had the same red wine, one room temperature (good), one ice cold (not good). Burger was delicious. Eager to go back again when dishes and flatware are in evidence.
Hawthornes is one of my favorites. It’s close by and a great neighborhood restaurant. Since Covid, of course, everything is different. Expect to eat out of little cardboard boxes outside. It was a gorgeous night and I took my dad for Father’s Day.
Food was really good. The only thing I’ll say is that it was really expensive. My dad had chicken nuggets and I had 2 fish tacos (one order). I had one cocktail and the entire bill with tip was a little over a hundred. I realize they have to make up for lost time. I was a bit taken aback at the price though. The weekend before I went to La Viola in philly and had great service with an absolutely fabulous meal and the bill didn’t reach a hundred. Go figure. I’m not complaining either. Just letting you know.
We visited during COVID when outdoor seating was required, and it was a great dinner! The menu had good variety, the drinks were delicious, and the staff was very friendly. It was a nice time.
Premade drinks as the only option that are loaded with sugar. Won’t go back until a regular drink menu is available. Food was excellent
Always a solid choice. Even under the current circumstances, it remains so. Great food, great service
Great experience! We sat in the outdoor area. Food was delicious and service was excellent!
Hawthorne had a great set up for social distancing. Our waitress was awesome and of course the food the perfect!
got a bad seat hemmed in by kitchen, recycling shed and parking space. waiter didn't wear gloves. eating out of styrofoam containers & drinking out of plastic cups was a lousy experience (even if it's required). glad they're open but didn't feel like they were trying very hard.
Outdoor dining only a this point. Super friendly staff and excellent food. Will definitely return.
it was a pleasure, especially after not being out for months. service was great, friendly and clean!
Great brunch today! We had eggs benedict with crab and delicious roasted potatoes. The service was friendly and helpful. I will definitely go again and recommend for brunch!
I can't believe this is the first time I've ever been! Cute multipurpose place, great for brunch, uncrowded, laid back, friendly, but then after five it'll be a great place to come back for beer, cider, wine, and cocktails (the beverage list was expansive!)! I'll be back soon. Food was good, service was great!
Great food, great service, great beer, great all around vibes. I went for brunch but will going back for happy hour later this week! Megan was our waitress and she was extremely attentive and sweet throughout our entire experience! This is more than a neighborhood gem, I would recommend this to anyone in the Philadelphia area!!!
Appeared to be a very short staffed night and that led to some service issues. When we did get our food it was good. Lack of communication during our wait was disappointing. They knew there was something going on, come and talk with us.
fixed menu was great
a la carte available for my 10 yo was terrific
We went for an early dinner before a show. The staff and kitchen were very accommodating so we could get out on time. The food was delicious and everything was made just how we liked it. We will definitely go back there.
I was there with a group of 7 and everyone loved their meals and the specialty drink, The Subtle Jab, was delicious!
Good place for brunch . Pancakes delicious. Very crowded and noisy on a Sunday. If noise and crowds bother you, you won’t like it on the weekend
Really great brunch dishes and our server was fantastic
Great spot for weekend brunch!
This is one of my favorite spots to visit but the last time I was there i was sadly disappointed. The food wasn't up to par. Me and my bf get the same thing everytime, chicken and waffles for him and French toast with a side of bacon for me. this last time we visited everything was off. The chicken was cold, the French toast had an off putting taste to it and i asked for the bacon to be crispy but it came back kinda soft which was no big deal. I asked them to fry it a lil more with no problem. We honestly were just surprised with the poor quality cuz its never like that even on its busiest days. Maybe it was just a bad day but it left us disappointed so we probably won't visit for a while (we already dont visit that frequently) but we'll be back eventually.
Breakfast was delicious!
Excellent shrimp & chorizo with creamy Brussel sprout risotto. When we got there at 6, the restaurant was empty but a few families gradually came in. By 8pm, there was a loud crowd of runners drinking at the bar.
The waiter was unfriendly and abrupt. He also brought my daughter the wrong order and insisted that was what she ordered. Then while we were still eating dinner, he brought our check and didn’t even ask if we wanted desert or coffee. He made us feel unwelcome and as of outlet business was unwanted.
One of Philadelphia’s hidden gems! It’s such a treat on a birthday or a regular day.
Great but very loud
Relaxing atmosphere, cute decor, and a damn good crabby dick!
Went for brunch food was delicious and came out fast! Serves was meh
Sunday brunch was excellent. Highlights wew
Great place for brunch. Service was excellent, and finding a brunch spot that takes reservations is a nice touch in this neighborhood where that is hard to find! Gets very loud inside however so take that into account if you are with people who are hard of hearing. Big portion sizes, we took a lot home.
Awesomeness! Loved this great trendy spot! Food was delicious and the service outstanding! Love the decor and atmosphere was so much fun! Will definitely visit again!
