Hawthorne is an American restaurant and tavern located steps from the intersection of 14th and U Street. Hawthorne features four floors with five bar areas and two dining rooms perfect for casual drinks, bar bites, or a full dinner. We have one of the best bottomless brunch deals in town. Our brunch special is $36.99 and includes 2 hours of Mimosas, Bloody Mary's, Orange Crushes, Bud Light, one choice of a entree and a Fireball shot.

Hawthorne is famous for having one of the best rooftops in DC. The rooftop is retractable, can be utilized in all weather and has an incredible view of the city and monuments. Zagat named it one of the top 10 hottest rooftop bars in May 2016 and is one of the DC Modern Luxury list of Top 2016 summer rooftops.

We do not take seated brunch or dinner reservations on our rooftop. Reservations are seated on our 1st or 2nd floors.

Hawthorne was awesome. My best friend brought us here on our visit to Washington, and brunch was amazing! Our server was super sweet, and kept up with us with the bottomless mimosas. Bacon was a little crispy, but still good! Music was pumping and the energy was great! Thank you Hawthorne for an amazing brunch

Truly enjoyed the drinks and food for brunch. Had trouble with noise level. My table couldn't hear each other to converse without yelling. Too bad because it's a pretty space with delicious food.

Super disappointing brunch experience -- definitely would *not* recommend. We had a group of 8, but there was a group of 12+ next to us that was getting all of the server's attention and incredibly loud. That group asked for the music to be turned up to an unreasonable level (I couldn't hear the person sitting right next to me) and when we asked to turn the music down, the server told us that another group had asked to turn it up so there was nothing he could do. One of our entrees was forgotten so her food arrived when we were basically done. There were lipstick stains on one of the champagne flutes and the server didn't seem to care. After that the server didn't come back, I had to track him down to ask for the check. The food was also disappointing for the price.

3 hours of my life gone...the host took forever to greet us... they couldn’t find a table for us to sit at ... AND WE HAD A RESERVATION... they moved a couple from a table and cleaned it for us to sit... the waitress was not attentive and she even said “sorry I’ve been neglecting you guys”.... either this place just is horrible overall or they were short staffed Today, either way I probably will not go back...

I love this place but I wasn't happy with the service. Our service was incredibly slow and the server was very uninterested. They also ran out of shrimp so we couldn't get shrimp and grits.

We went for bottomless brunch to celebrate my graduation. Overall it was great time, but service was a little slow to get to us, but once we ordered our food came out quick. Our food was ok, I got the Chesapeake Benedict and it in the greasy side and the eggs were also wet—when I cut into the eggs, water ran out with the yolk. My friend has the same thing happen with her benedict. Food aside, drinks were great and we all had a great time. Even after our 2 hours were up, we were politely told that they needed our table, which I appreciated. Tip: if you do bottomless brunch, ask your server to bring out 2 carafes at a time, get your money worth in drinks and helps the server not have to come around as much!

Great experience. Had an 11:30 reservation for 5 and was seated and served promptly. Note they said bottleless starts at the time of reservation. Not when you get your drinks. (At least that is what the waiter advised)

Everyone at Hawthorne that works there is super professional, nice, and very understanding. On Sunday when we got there late they still accommodated to our needs and never acted annoyed (even though I was at all my friends). The manager was super understanding and never made it seem like we weren’t welcome and I don’t remember her name but there was a host with long black hair and glasses, she was very nice and helpful too! Thanks so much for helping me change my reservations and dealing with two of my friends that weren’t 21 and still letting them come. Appreciate it so so much, had such a fun birthday!

My friends and I attended for brunch and the food and service was amazing. Just wished they had more than two floors open for food service. The second floor gets a little tight when the tables are full. We will definitely be back.

Hawthorne was really good first time experience for a 21st Birthday party was AMAZING! the only reason they get a 4 is because we had someone under 21 at our table so we weren’t able to get pitchers of mimosas. But the food was soooo good and the mimosas definitely did their job so I will definitely be back

It was really fun place . The brunch was a deal and the service was amazing . The hostess ,bartenders and waitress were all extremely attentive . The only thing we didn’t like was the food , came out cold and it was very salty , but the cold part may have been because we had a large party.

Loud. Poor service. The waiter came by like every 30 minutes if we were lucky. Burgers were undercooked. Completely ruined my birthday celebration. In addition to that, we were asked to give up our table because a reservation had arrived. Did not get my money’s worth in bubbles because waiter took forever to return to table.

The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. The waitress was great about refilling our mimosas too, although I wish she would have just left a carafe at the table that way we would have gotten the most money's worth. Overall, Hawthorne has a great deal for brunch and some delicious food!

I made a reservation well in advance in hopes that I would have a table to sit at for brunch. When I arrived the hostess told me due to the reservations they had our only option was to sit at the bar. That’s terribke customer service when I too had a reservation. Also the area where the bar was, was extremely tight and uncomfortable. The party behind us kept bumping our chairs and hitting us walking by. When this was expressed to the hostess she advised there was nothing she could do. She was not even sympathetic to the fact that the conditions were terrible. Other than that the food was good and the bartender was very attentive. He made sure we had everything we needed even while being uncomfortable.

I booked a reservation for 10 people for a Saturday late afternoon bottomless brunch. We waited 25 minutes to be seated. The ambiance was loud and fun, exactly what we were looking for. The staff was generous in allowing three of our friends that weren't on the original reservation to join our table. Additionally, the menu stated everyone at the table needed to order the bottomless option, but server kindly let the extras to bypass that restriction and order a la carte. Overall the experience was fun, but I think that if alcohol wasn't involved I would have been more frustrated by the initial wait time.

I admit my friends were a bit late, but we were hurried out of there and there were at least 20 seats available when we left, that stayed open the entire time. There was no accommodation or flexibility for customers there. The restaurant was 60% full. The whole experience felt rushed. They need to have a note when making reservations regarding the time that you actually have to sit and enjoy yourself. If the limit is because of the unlimited brunch, and you don’t get unlimited, then what? We ended up at The Smith next door where there were no limits, great customer service, and a welcomed seat with no time limit. Much better than being crunched up in a corner and treated like a bother. Three different staff members reminded us of the time limit, and then a fourth was someone who seemed to possibly be a manager, summoned us that the 1245p reservation was there and we had to go. I will NEVER go back, and I will be sure to share my experience- because I have several friends who like to go to brunch and feel welcomed. This place was NOT it.

Everything about the experience was horrible. The food was cold. The portions were small. The service was insulting. A group of fifteen people left starving and irritated. We were given bread plates for our food. It took twenty minutes to get syrup and of course the waffles were like hockey pucks and the French toast was cold by the time is arrived. An all around zero star waste of money and time experience.

I made a last second reservation for two people for a Saturday brunch at Hawthorne. I was seated right away (at the bar, but still very promptly). Food, service,
Cleanliness was great, the only complaint I had was having two large parties next to each other therefore having to squeeze through just to leave.

I wouldn't go here for brunch again. Maybe for a drink in the evening, because the lights were dark and they were playing club music. Also the food was cold (I had eggs), and the flavors were very bland. Our server was very friendly, and I had no issues with her. It was all other aspects that I just wasn't crazy about for a brunch destination.

Service was terrible to the point where the general manger had to accommodate everyone after waiting over an hour! The GM did his best to assist but at this point, we were already irate. Service was terrible and was just okay. Not to mention I never received the complimentary shot as advertised for my birthday. Will not be back
