Hawksworth Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Came here two years ago and was blown away by the food and service. However, upon my recent visit, it was not the same whatsoever.
Our dishes were all rather salty and did not have much flavour. We ordered the pan roasted scallops to start with and duck breast and sablefish as mains. The mains took some time to arrive.
The service was unattentive and awkward feeling. Was not asked how the food was until we were nearly finished.
Definetly a let down from my first experience at hawksworth.
We had a lovely time at Hawksworth for my Grandmas 80th birthday brunch. The food was delicious, and our service was some of the best I have received. We were greeted with a warm smile, and taken right to our table as we had a reservation. Our server did an excellent job of explaining the menu to us, and make suggestions to further our dining experience, like suggesting a London fog instead of an earl grey tea, and suggesting a replacement for something one of us didn’t want in our meal. We all ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the hollandaise sauce was both light and creamy, not making us feel heavy after the meal. The potatoes were seasoned to perfection, and the tomato on the side tied it all together. For dessert, we shared the macaron sampler and the dark chocolate. The macarons were fluffy and light with delicious flavours, and and dark chocolate mousse tasted like an after 5 chocolate. Light in consistency, and with mint leafs and a small scoop of sorbet on top, it was both refreshing and delicious. Our server was great (didn’t catch his name), and he was very attentive and easy to talk to. Overall, we had a great experience at Hawksworth and will definitely be going bath. Thank you for making it such a lovely experience!
Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable with the menu, dishes came with reasonable wait. Large selection of wines but we opted for some cocktails instead. The beef tenderloin was very tasty at medium, and the lamb saddle was tender. The puree garnishes were also paired well with the meats. Some might think the sizes are a bit small with a pricey menu.
I had the Tataki Tuna which was good except the amount of corn pepper on it overwhelmed the overall taste of the dish. My wife had the Sturgeon, which was outstanding.
They do not have a green salad on the menu. We were offered a mixed green salad (which was very good) only after we questioned why there were no salads on the menu.
The chair I was sitting on was "tired' and needs updating.
Good restaurant, however, to stay great, attention to the little things required.
Prices were too high, and service was mediocre given the price tag. The food was beautifully presented and quite tasty but I have had better gastronomic experiences in this price range . The waitstaff rushed through the explanations of the food so we couldn't process much of what was described. I expected more - something needs to give -- either the prices or the offering including service.
Great dishes priced accordingly! Tip for presenting the specials - speak loud & clear, not too fast. Although it wasnt specially noisy, it was hard to understand one of our servers.
Minimal dress requirements used to be in place for good reasons. We didnt get the memo that it was gonna be a casual night so forgot our track pants :) Damn!
We always reserve this restaurant when we come to Vancouver. This restaurant is at the center of downtown, so we can find easily.
This restaurant has really tasty food and drink. Of course they have great service.
I always have breakfast or brunch here so I want to have dinner here next time.
First time in Vancouver, the restaurant was fantastic, excellent service and the food is over the top-end of Wow, mind-blowing.
Then we had a few drinks at the bar, very nice indeed. I thought I would have a shot of the Richard. But the price said $1600, a shot. True Story!!
after hearing people rave about hawksworth for ages we finally decided to give it a try. It was good but didn't quite live up to my expectations. The food tasted really good but I didn't find it exceptionally creative and our entrees were served warm rather than hot. The service was good but nowhere near excellent and at that price point I'm expecting excellent. I enjoyed the meal on the whole but just didn't find it was quite worth the money.
Please don’t go to this restaurant if you feel like you need to alter their menu. Made reservations on Christmas evening, when into the restaurant was planning on ordering two appetizers for my husband and a main for him , I wanted the tasting menu along with the special fried rice appetizer. Was told the kitchen would not accommodate our menu choices. Wound up ordering something it was OK the chef there needs to check himself you need to be open with your menu selections people who want to eat your food and are willing to pay for it you should serve them whatever they want.
We went for Christmas dinner. Everybody loved everything that we ate. Nothing was left on the plate other than some potatoes which weren’t cooked quite enough. Otherwise I would’ve given them a five star in food. It’s too bad you can’t give 4.75 stars. The wine fellow was fabulous. The waiter was great too. She really knew her stuff.
Very disappointing. Coffee cup was dirty, had to exchange it. My husband’s milk had turned so had to be replaced. Bacon was greasy and had to be recrisped. Eggs over medium were hard, no yolk what so ever. My husband asked for a side of sausages but should have been told the sausages were very large, not a real concern but would have been nice to know. Service was mediocre. Hard to catch server’s eye. Also Hostess was absent from podium for a long time meaning we had a 5 minute wait to check in. Line grew long while we waited. Same when we left, hostess was not around to get our coats. Another wait while looking for the hostess. Hostess was apparently setting tables etc. As I say disappointing for what was supposed to be a nice breakfast in supposedly a nice restaurant. Would not go back for breakfast.
The meal was uninspiring. I had the beef cheeks with roesti (a Swiss raw grated potato dish) and cubed carrots and celeriac. The beef was greasy and stringy, the roesti was most likely deep fried in small cubes, the carrot cubes were not chewable because they were nearly raw (cut from a large carrot) and the celeriac was tasteless. All in all, I could have done better at home. Even an ordinary cook just graduated from the Vancouver Community College would not have done worse.
