Perfection. The food, the room, the service. Hawksworth sets the bar very high and delivers without pretension. This was a truly outstanding experience. Finish with the poached pineapple--it is the single most delicious dessert I've ever tasted. Still dreaming about it!
The service and food were excellent as always, and the few little extra touches they put in for our anniversary made it a very special evening
I went specifically for the tasting menu and was impressed.
Great experience. We chose to have the tasting menu, great chance to experience a little of many things the kitchen has to offer. The high lights were the sablefish, so light and delicate. The seaweed and crab salad was also fresh and flavorful. The service was great, and our food was spaced out perfectly.
I tried the latest prix fix menu and it wasn’t as wow as last time. The fish was over cooked but the dessert was the saving grace! Excellent dessert. We found the service kind of uncomfortable as our waitress judged us on our ability to enjoy the food which was kind of rude. Our table was empty and we still have not seen the main course for over 20 min wait? It’s lunch.. so for us to ask it’s normal. I think the waitress telling us that usually we want our customers to really enjoy our food because we asked if our next dish will be our soon was rude... I don’t think speed decides whether or not we are able to enjoy our food? The restaurant wasn’t full either so.. overall an uncomfortable lunch experience.
Food was excellent. Service really lacked. Service was scattered.
When we got to the restaurant, there was no hostess. We waited about two minutes, then walked into the restaurant and had to ask someone if there is a hostess. She arrived a out 30 seconds later.
Our server was the worst in our dining room. We watched as the other tables were well taken care of. Ours seemed flustered all evening. Too long to even introduce himself or offer to take our drink order. Forgot the mediocre bread basket (we reminded him twice) and just couldn’t care less about us.
Great food but won’t be back.
Amazing food, top of the line waiters and waitresses, clean and professional..
A true fine dining experience. Fascinating combinations of flavours and great service.
A little noisy but not unexpected and not excessive as we were able to converse.
Service thorough but not obtrusive or interruptive.
Food was excellent.
After recently enjoying some great tasting menus in Seattle and Victoria, the BC journey tasting menu at Hawksworth left me a little disappointed. It was mostly very good, but a couple of courses could have been better balanced. The crab dish had a great presentation, but there was almost no crab there. The squash dish seemed to lack seasoning but was also a bit overpowered by the mustard. The other four dishes were nicely balanced and flavorful. The lack of any amuse bouche or palate cleanser made the meal a bit less special than other tasting menus I've had. Overall, it is a nice restaurant with some great food, but I've enjoyed other dining experiences more.
Awesome food....service like on an expensive cruise ship!! Staff friendly and anticipating your needs in advance. Thank you!!
I reluctantly have to write a mostly negative review for our dining experience at Hawksworth. we are no strangers to fine dining (worldwide) and found our time at hawksworth very underwhelming. the wait staff were uneducated on how to properly describe the menu items, in particular the vegetable fondue, which was not a fondue (google the definition of fondue) the dish was roasted vegetables on a tomatoe sauce with small chunks of cashew "cheese" when we brought up this to our waiter, he felt he had properly explained the dish to us, in a some what condescending manner. The halibut Crudo was more diced vegetable then halibut, go to Ancora for an amazing crudo. The Sirloin...I enjoy a good steak, and this was not one of them. the presentation was shockingly under whelming, and when it was brought to the table and presented, the waitress haphazardly poured the sauce onto the plate. Finally we had spoken to the sommelier earlier, and asked that he come back and recommend some wine to go with our choices. the restaurant is not that big, and he never returned, thus leaving us without wine, nor did the waiter prompt for a wine offer. overall it was not the best dining experience we have had.
Staff, waiter super,; sommelier & wines excellent. Setting nice but very loud.
Unfortunarely, the food was very disappointing. Crudo with no special note. Sea bass: product too long out of water, technical: overvooked. All in all far away from ‚Canada‘s best’ or even ‚Vancouver‘s best‘.
the service & food were both outstanding...as was the sommelier! excellent choice...can't believe it is actually a hotel restaurant... it was outstanding!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff and delicious food. Thank you for a wonderful lunch!
Remarkable food from selection to presentation and outstanding service. Best dining experience we have had in years. Ask for Berton as your waiter. He knows the food and enhances the experience
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the wine paired menu with one tiny exception. The cheddar on the cheese plate was dry and flat flavoured. May we suggest you provide something to soak up the fab juice from the heirloom tomato dish. The men’s room while very elegant was a bit grubby. All in all one of our best anniversary dinners.
The food and service there are great.
Fantastic lamb chops, super juicy and fatty! The best I’ve ever had.
Fantastic food; inventive preparation; great taste. And a great wine list with informative wine stewards.
We had a 5 star dining experience. As close to perfection as it could ever be. This was a destination visit on our vacation from Toronto because of their reputation and Hawksworth did not disappoint. ❤️
We let them know that it was our anniversary and we were going to do the tasting menu with selected wines. The food was very good as were the wine pairings. Unfortunately they just missed out on a lot of the details. We were seated in a more casual room, sat for an hour with no food because we had opted to have a cocktail to begin, and when we finally said something they brought us bread and then charged us six dollars for the bread. We were expecting a fine dining experience and this was a bit much. There were no canapés or any extra special surprises. The courses were all extremely good but I must say they were actually a bit large for a tasting menu. I suggest if you come to this restaurant you just order the regular meals as the food is very good. The chef is not in the house and it shows.
Incredible food! Very expensive. I would go back again though and recommend to others!
Hawksworth is an absolute fantastic Restaurant.
Service and the wine cellar are really great.
The Output from the kitchen just perfect.
Thank you for the great stay in the Hawksworth.
The manager Scott G is excellent to deal with. I will surely be visiting Hawksworth again.
Always enjoy the ambiance food and service at this restaurant
My husband is celiac which was accommodated, however the dish he chose was altered to the point he basically received plain cooked fish with a small amount of a different sauce on the side. It would have been nice to have it explained beforehand exactly how it would be altered. He would have chosen a different dish had he known. He rated his meal an 8 out of 10: mine was an 11 out of 10.
Wonderful evening of excellent food, wine and service....a couple of misses by service, which were reconciled but left a note of disappointment.
We love dining here and are always happy to try new menus.
Overall is okay, just the food is too salty for me.
The tasting menu and wine pairings were outstanding. My favourite restaurant in Vancouver.
The food was amazing and the wait staff was lovely. My only complaint was that the restaurant is surprisingly loud and the decor didn’t fit with the rest of the stunning hotel, but the food far out showed those small stumbles.
Outstanding all around
no review, I expressed our opinion by answering your questions
The starters were good. Oysters were were fresh. But the main course was disappointing. The steak and lobster tail were unattractive and expensive for it’s worth, close to $80 (Canadian dollars).
Another excellent meal and service delivered by Hawksworth. Thank for a great Father’s Day meal and celebration of our 13th anniversary.
Our server made our experience enjoyable. Evening started with part our party being seated and a manager trying to seat a different party of 5 at our table. Manager looked confused when we told him the parties/guest aren’t related. Don’t think he was paying attention that table was set for 5 and with 2 people already seated, the party of 5 he brought over wasn’t for the same reservation. The savory items for our dinner were delicious. Scallops, steaks, sea bass and pasta, etc. perfectly made. Dessert on the other hand was quite disappointing. Too many deconstructed dessert options that did not satisfy the sweet part of the meal.
I have been to Hawksworth numerous times since it opened and actually stopped going there after 3 in a row disappointing experiences.
I decided to give it another chance this past weekend and was let down again. The service was excellent, the restaurant is beautiful. The food was most definitely not what I expect from this level of restaurant.
With so many amazing fine dining choices in Vancouver I don't see this as a loss but perhaps the directors at Hawksworth should start paying attention. The champagne was lovely though :)
Good atmosphere and food combined with excellent service
Excelente lugar. Ambiente cálido. Atención de primera. Comida y carta de vinos extraordinaria
