My brother and I ordered two ribeyes medium rare and they came medium well done. My brother asked them to replace them both and they came back with only one. I was too hungry so just decided to eat my steak. The server kindly took my steak off the menu which I really appreciated however when we asked for our leftover steaks to be taken with our two different sauces. The server had put both steaks into the same container with both sauces underneath not in containers. Our steaks are now covered in a mix of peppercorn and berneaise sauce. Not really what I was hoping for. I take everyone here but this was very disappointing.
As usual at Hawksmoor.... Top Food & Service!
Food was overcooked and a certain dish arrived my mistake to the table which was not in line with normal dietary restrictions.
This was our frst visit and would go back again when we are next back in London
Steaks are cooked to perfection, side dishes amazing. Had the sprouts for the first time and were delicious.
The service is relaxed but attentive, we were left to chat until ready to leave, no pressure to hurry.
There is a real buzz going on, yet easy to chat at your own table.
Consistently great every time.
Cozy and relaxed atmosphere. Service was excellent. I had rib eye, it was delicious. I'll definitely recommend this place to my friends and will go again.
We always come here for birthday celebrations because it feels special. As usual we have fabulous food and looking forward to our next visit.
Awesome Express menu, great value for money and a superb all-round experience
Pre Theatre dinner in a great setting with great food and a good service
Celebrated my wife’s special birthday, restaurant, food and service was excellent and ideal location as a pre theatre dinner. Definitely recommended.
Excellent food as always. Steaks are cooked to perfection and sides were very good (mac and cheese) although beef dripping fries were OK. Several beers not available when we visited however staff made up for it.
totally awesome, can't wait to go back. service was impeccable and had the best steak that I can remember
Had a great pre theatre lunch. Express menu very good value
The service was outstanding as well as the meat, very well prepared.
It’s been years since I’ve come back to the Hawksmoor Seven dials but it hadn’t changed much. I went for the winter set menu which was great value. I’m glad I went for the fillet tail with chips - flavoursome even if a little unevenly cooked (one half was medium and the other medium rare...). The potted beef with Yorkshire’s for a starter was a meal in itself! I’ve had this a few times at different Hawksmoors and always found the Yorkshire’s on the burnt side?!
My husband had the scallops which were amazing and the rib eye (which he asked for medium rare but was half rare and half medium rare hence not quite 5 stars for food).
Overall service was good although we were told someone would take our coats downstairs but instead we were just taken to our table so we were the only ones with our coats... but small detail.
Lovely time here, tables for two were placed quite close together so therefore very loud but food was great. Thank you.
Service was really good. The food was amazing, although I’d asked for medium rare steak - it was more on the medium well side. But the Mac n cheese was out of this world. Would like to try another other hawksmoor London next time.
I always have the bone marrow smothered in onions. It's so delicious. I had the 3 course express dinner. So I had the rump steak. It was cooked properly at medium rare. Then I indulged in the toffee sundae. Oh my goodness. I was sure that I needed to take my cholesterol off pills the next day. It was well worth it though. I hope to go there with my hubby. I heard that they might be opening a branch in NYC sometime this year or next year. Wow. When will they do it?
Overpriced for what was a fairly ordinary steak. Charging extra for the pepper sauce (which was insipid) is a step too far.
Food was a bit too salty. However, the ambience was nice and the staff was friendly.
Great food and the waiter (Philip) was awesome!
Wow, where do I start...... a really warm welcoming reception, very attentive waiting and hosting, excellent food and a very good all round atmosphere to this place, keep up the good work Hawksmoor staff.
Would certainly recommend this place to friends and we will definitely be returning on our next visit to London.
5 stars from me.
We ate a late 4.00pm lunch which was delicious. We were not shown the main wine list and only had a selection of three different wines, when seated by the bar.
The service demonstrated by the manager to the complaining table next to us was outstanding. No argument, no equivocation just sincere desire to be given the opportunity to put the error right next time.
It made us feel appreciated??!
always amazing food - their sunday roast is a steal for just £22!
We had the tastiest Sunday lunch with plenty of gravy 😋
Great family Sunday lunch.
Christina was a great host !!!! She gave us the best advice ever regarding the choice of our meat !!!! Great second visit ... we’ll come back !
Fantastic very time
The staff was very attentive, always happy to help and didn’t rush us. The food was amazing, the best stake I’d ever had. everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed everything they ordered.
Having heard about Hawksmoor I was really excited to take my dad for a big birthday but we all left disappointed. The atmosphere and drinks are lovely and reasonably priced but I felt the food overall was a let down and too expensive for what we had.
For starters we had Yorkshire Puddings with gravy, Bone Marrow and Lobster. All was okay. Between us we ordered a Chateaubriand and Porterhouse a large quantity of meat with little seasoning and the worse Peppercorn sauce I've ever had (very watery).
Each of the sides were poor a couple of sprouts, a few parsnips that were both average and then a soggy cauliflower cheese that was lacking in cheese.
Had chocolate tart for pudding, the pasty was awful. Don't understand what all the fuss is about. Had better steak most other places.
Great evening. The steak always has a great flavour here and the set menu is fantastic value. Service was great from friendly and unpretentious staff.
All round really good. Steaks excellent.
Absolutely fantastic place. The food is always incredible and the staff make you feel so welcome. We visit every year on our anniversary!
Really excellent food. Always pricy but you get what you pay for.
pre-theatre menu caesar salad was far too salty, and jerusalem artichoke salad was nothing to write home about. We then waited for about 30 minutes for our steaks. Distinctly average, food for the masses. No class. Cocktail bar and bartender different story. He was super quick, very polite and made a delicious cocktail.
A wonderful and helpful staff. The cocktails and wine are great and the food was excellent.
Hawksmoor holds itself out as a very fine restaurant, and mostly succeeds. The Chateaubriand was delicious, as was most of the food. I was particularly impressed by the Oloroso sherry I took as an aperitif. So there is much to enjoy.
Biggest downside is that the tables are rather close together.
My star ratings may be a bit ungenerous. But I left thinking ‘yes, I would go there again, and enjoy it’ rather than ‘Can’t wait to go again’.
This was an enjoyable meal out. The reason for the more moderate review was the inconsistency and confusion in the service. We were served by quite a few different staff, and on three separate occassions other people's drinks or food turned up at our table. Once is an error, three times suggests there are some organisational issues in the table and order management. The food itself was enjoyable, but there was also an assumption that we knew how the system worked, rather than an introduction.
The food was fairly average, we went for the express menu pre theatre. The starter of Yorkshire pudding and pate was disappointing though the salad was very tasty. The steaks were incredibly tasty though quite tough which is not really expected from a steak restaurant.
Simply, the best steak I’ve ever eaten.
