It was my wife’s birthday and she wanted great steak. We certainly weren’t disappointed. We both had the Porterhouse and they were awesome. Service was a bit slow at times, but food (and drink) was fabulous.
Booked a table for four for a 40th Birthday celebration, advised the restaurant when booking and when called to re-confirm our reservation - asked for a nice table & a little Birthday magic. Was re-assured they had taken note of it being a special birthday.
Arrived a little early and reminded the Front of House it was a special occasion. However when we were shown to our table, we were given the option of 2 tables - 1 by a pillar and 1 booth sandwiched between two other busy booths....so we opted for the one by the pillar.
I have never been to Hawksmoor before but had heard many good things from friends who had visited (mainly for business meals).
I have to say I was left feeling quite disappointed, the quality of the food is good however not outstanding which is what I would expect for the price. I love steaks and have been lucky enough to eat at several restaurants at all price ranges including in the home of steak - Argentina :)
I find it ridiculous that given the price point you have to order your sauces and sides separately. At the very least you should have 1 sauce & 1 side (fries or greens) included.
As for the birthday magic...after having to remind the waiter after we had ordered our desserts, he offered the birthday guest a free cocktail - it felt very much like an afterthought. I have been to countless restaurants for birthdays, and they have always made an extra effort for the birthday guest - a little decorated dessert, or a glass of champagne.
Am afraid it does not live up to the hype, I will definitely not go back, if you are a steak lover it's not a memorable experience in any sense.
La viande était parfaite et le service très sympa. Je recommande
Amazing food and even more friendlier staff. Lovely place for good wine and food with friends.
This was my second-time visit and it was also lovely.
Great food and service as always, it's pricey but it's definitely worth it. Looking forward to my next visit.
Stupidly I'd booked the wrong time but seven dials could still fit me in.
Great food amazing people who work there.
Thanks again for a lovely dinning experience
Amazing food, great atmosphere, good value and lovely staff
Service was slow and food was not as good as I’d expect based on cost etc. Steak was quite tough and not a quality cut. I will try Hawksmoor again as hopefully this was just a one off less than perfect visit.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday & it was the best! The food was incredible (I'm pregnant so a juicy steak is wasted on me but the gnocchi was amazing), the cornflake milkshake was crazy good, and the staff were super friendly & welcoming. They felt genuine & although it was definitely a special occasion, the whole experience wasn't at all stuffy or pretentious. They even remembered the special birthday plate for him at the end so he had a candle to blow out. We had just come back from a two week holiday in NYC & Toronto where we ate a lot of great meals out & the birthday boy thought that his Hawksmoor dins was by far the best meal he'd had in ages. FULLY RECOMMEND! Thanks guys x
Amazing steaks and great service. Would highly recommend
One of the best dining experience of my Life! We were served by a remarkably charming gentleman named Joao who was as knowledgeable and friendly as he is handsome (and that's very ;)). The highlight was actually the pud, with a sticky toffee pudding to die for! We'll definitely return soon.
Excellent......as usual!
Ambiance, location and service are awesome. The meat quality (measured by their Prime Rib) unfortunately is just average. There are better steaks on this planet and also in London for sure.
Good quality, simple food - cooked well. Nice atmosphere.
I found this restaurant very average food and atmosphere wise. Definitely won't be rushing back
Quality food and service was shattered by the squalor of the toilets: in the gents all 3 urinals were out of service, the 2 booths were open sewers, without paper. The ladies I am told were better, but grubby. Says it all I think. #justsayin’
Really enjoyed my steak. Immense. My waiter was a really relaxed and professional guy. My only hang up is getting charged a 12.5% service charge for two of us.
As always fantastic food, lovely fun staff and a great atmosphere
I keep coming back to you again and again because you're such starts at accommodating diners with allergies. Your (apparent, but that's all that matters, really) lack of judgement, proactivity in suggesting alternatives and potential risks and patience throughout have made me a fan and repeat customer. Thank you!
Viande excellente. Un des meilleurs steacks que j ai mangé
Good, but steak was incredibly salty and my medium steak was (a) more like well done and (b) Less rare than my pregnant wife’s medium-well steak
It was very disappointing! We ordered the porterhouse steak to share with my friend, it was not cooked as it should, and the steak had a very bad smell - as if it was stale meat. Although the service was outstanding, I cannot point out my disappointment with regards to such a bad execution of cooking of the steak, especially due to the fact that it is meant to be one of the best steakhouses in London!
Great food, exceptional service, good atmosphere -will be back
Great food. Great service.
Best I’ve had In years
A bit pricey but very nice and lovely decor. Service and cleanliness very good !!!!
Booked a table for my daughters 21st birthday. The service and and food were very good. The staff were professional and engaging. An extra touch was that a number of them sang Happy Birthday and presented her with a personalised dessert.
A great place for a special meal. Friendly, helpful staff. Delicious food - best steak I have ever eaten.
We were visiting London as part of a wedding anniversary trip, and ate here before attending a performance at the Royal Opera House. This restaurant has a two-course and a three-course menu for theater goers, so they are very good at getting diners off to their shows on time. The service was warm and friendly, the food and wine recommendations were great, and they even treated us to a dessert wine in honor of our 25th anniversary, which was very sweet of them (pun intended)! I loved the underground space with its well-lit, vaulted brick ceilings. The steaks were outstanding, charred just the right amount over a wood fire. The smoke flavor was just a bit different than what we expected from the USA, and the server informed us that in addition to the standard oak we are used to, they also use chestnut and pine. Really delicious! And very reasonably priced for a fine dining experience in London’s Covent Garden. It was raining hard when we finished, so the hostess flagged us a taxi and we were easily driven to the opera house for just 3 pounds. Excellent, excellent experience all around. You don’t need a theater event as a reason to enjoy a good steak here, but if you are out for a theater night, you can’t do better than this.
Hadn't been to this Hawksmoor before but found it a very pleasant experience. Bar area is useful for a pre-food drink and chat. Food was as I had hoped - good steaks and wine. We dined on a Monday lunch time so it was quieter which made for a better lunch! Thanks
Again, food was lovely, service was great!
We do love this place, a wonderful meal as always and the Service was excellent!
We had a fantastic meal at The Hawksmoor Seven Dials after we went to see Matilda which is just beside it. The service was fantastic, so friendly and helpful, the food was amazing, huge portions. will definitely be back.
As always, sticky toffee pudding is amazing.
Staff lovely and accommodating.
The rump roast Sunday supper was a bit underwhelming — food all a little tepid as though all the elements had been sitting out a bit.
But happy to go back!
I was very disappointed with the Sunday lunch. For the price I expected a bit more. The cut of meat used was rump which was very fatty and the portion was meagre, only 1 slice, but the yorkshire pudding was massive and generous portions of vegetables which was done to detract from the fact the roast beef, which really is the main part of the meal, left a lot to be desired. The waitress also advised that the roast beef could only be served well done or rare, whatever happened to medium? I will say that the service was good, staff very attentive. It is a pity that the attention paid to main part of a Sunday roast, the meat was very lacking.
Great food. Sunday roast was amazing. One of the staff was not so kind, but all others were very kind. Recommand the the place for Sunday lunch in the city centre.
Amazing food and wonderful service.
We asked them to make up some cocktails for us that wasn't on the menu and my God did it taste delightful.
An overall wonderful evening.
So I finally managed to get myself down to try Hawksmoor, and I cannot fault it at all. We were greeted at the door and taken to the bar while we waited for our table (we were early) and had a great service from the bar staff and waitresses- cocktails were great and well made and the service and professionalism was great too- and they added all our drinks to the table which was very convenient. We were shown on the board what sharing steaks and weights were available and went for the T bone to share, and I cannot fault it one bit, literally the best steak I have ever eaten! The sides were very well cooked too and the chocolate tart dessert was just as good, and the prices reflect the quality and service! Will definitely be visiting again one weekend as long as we can get a table booking!
Expensive but lived up to the hype. Excellent steak and cocktails. Service very good.
Most amazing food that I have ever experienced
