Slow roasted rump with beef dripping potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, greens and lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy
It's not cheap but the food was wonderful. Nice staff, good service and good selection of wines. Our steak was cooked to perfection.
Incredible food and amazing service as always. Loved it
Good atmosphere but expensive for what it is. There are plenty of restaurants in London selling much better steak at more reasonable prices. Wine list is quite disappointing for anything under £60 a bottle.
Perhaps scaling up has impacted quality.
Ate too much because its all so good, can't fault anything
Never ceases to impress. The steak is the standout, overall great evening and highly recommended.
Super friendly and attentive staff, lovely starters and some of the best steaks we’ve had. Scallops were gorgeous, the lobster was huge, the ribs were delicious. For main we all had the rib-eye medium-rare and they were all cooked perfectly. We had one of each sauce and the best were the bone-marrow gravy and the stichelton holandaise, but the others were still good. Triple-cooked chips were crunchy and well seasoned, however the beef dripping fries were underwhelming. Shared a couple of desserts - I was told the apple pie was delicious and I had the chocolate hazelnut dessert (the name escapes me) but that was super rich and decadent. Overall, the portions were large and the quality of food was high. I would highly recommend.
We went for a pre-theatre dinner at 5.30. The short Express Menu is excellent and amazing value for money. The mackerel salad was fresh tasting and delicious. The potted beef was gorgeous but had two massive yorkshires - would work as a starter for two! The sea bream fillet was tender and moist with a beautiful flavour. The peanut butter shortbread was melt in the mouth. Service was excellent until the room got busier but remained charming.
Can you just get a good acoustic consultant in and sort the noise level - it’s bonkers ! We were a party of 6 celebrating my 18 year old son’s birthday- all except me under 30 and no one could hear the person opposite - I get you want a buzz but it’s like sitting in a 747 engine - for this reason I wouldn’t come back in a hurry which is a shame because everything else was very well done
Food was excellent, as always.... Will definitely be back !!
The best Sunday lunch I have ever tasted! Would highly recommend Hawskmoor and looking forward to returning to try another dish.
Fantastic Sunday roast, the beef was lovely and the Yorkshire were the best we have eaten.
It was also my husband's birthday, I emailed them to let them know. They made a great fuss of him.
Just amazing food and service
throughout - cannot fault anything
A great place to eat if a little pricey. Steaks were all cooked superbly.
Hawksmoor is a very good restaurant. I arrived early and, as I am trying Sober October, tried a “temperate” cocktail. The range is the best selection of non alcoholic cocktails I have found - delicious. We thought the restaurant looked a bit busy, and as there were tables in the bar, asked if we could eat there. The staff were happy to accommodate. For food, scallops, fillet steaks and a toffee pudding and a sorbet desert. All great quality and excellent. I continued to drink temperate cocktails and my friend had 2 glasses of wine. So all excellent food, drink and service. My only quibble is the price. Over £200, with one person drinking non alcoholic drinks, no potatoes with my main (all sides are extra) only a salad and a one scoop of sorbet desert. So the bill could have been even higher. As I said, it is all very good but was it £200 worth of good - not so sure. I will go back but only for a special, push the boat out occasion. At those prices this is not just for an evening out with friends or family.
Hawksmoor just has it right. My friend and I had the best meal, great service and worth every penny!
Great steak but shocking ambience.
The tables are far too close together and the noise level is such that you literally had to shout across the table to be heard. I came out with a sore throat. I won't be rushing back, which is a pity because the filet was exceptional.
Fantastic in every aspect, best tasting steak for many a month coupled with fabulous service.
Excellent food and service, highly recommend this restaurant
5*. Perfection as always. Will be coming back for years to come.
Great evening - very attentive service, beautiful decor, warm and inviting ambiance, food amazing - highly recommend for any Steak lovers.
Excellent as always. Lovely food and great stuff make for a great night
we had the most incredible date- it was perfect.
Amazing food, delightful staff, couldn’t recommend enough.
We found the restaurant food was very good, but as there are no soft furnishings in the very large room, the sound from other diners bounced off the walls and floor making it very noisy.
I was accompanied by 2 diners, we had cocktails to start, champagne-based, a little sweet for my palate.
Starter of Old Spot pork belly, absolutely delicious. My companions had crab which was apparently divine.
Mains were filet steak, monkfish and ribeye (my favourite), to say all 3 dishes were amazing was an understatement. Ribeye was melt in your mouth.
Washed down with an extremely quaffable Rioja.
Sides of beef dripping fries, creamed spinach and triple cooked chips. All excellent.
No dessert, just espresso martinis to finish.
Replete, rejuvenated and definitely returning.
Food and services was great.
all I would say is that the staff were loud (chatting and laughing) near the kitchen/bar.
The filet tail on the express menu really wasn’t the great but the salad and chips were great. So was the wine.
Table was way too small and repeated request/hints to waiting staff to change table were not taken onboard even though restaurant was half empty at 1830. Expected better than this.
What a wonderful evening, taking advantage of their £5 corkage deal. The food was fantastic, but special kudos to Emily, the sommelier, who made the evening a standout success.
As always Hawksmoor is outstanding. If I could give them more stars I would. The staff are absolutely amazing in their attentiveness ( never once filling my own drink ) and knowledge of their restaurant
Good Sunday Lunch, Roast beef and all the trimmings,Had the cheese and partner
Had pudding both excellent,First time to this restaurant,
Love this restaurant. The friendly staff and quality of food is what we keep coming back for. Never disappoints.
Absolutely perfect steaks and delicious side dishes combined with attentive and friendly service - a really great meal.
The food overall was very good. The selection of vegetables was shockingly poor. Bearing in mind it's predominantly steak, who would not have tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli or perhaps peas?
The thing that put us off and we would not return because of it was the noise level. Because of the relatively low ceiling and you the fact you are below ground level makes for a very noisy restaurant.
Superb lunch with great wine and excellent service
Lovely meal at the Guildhall location, highly recommend the Peanut Butter Shortbread for dessert!
Great experience as always - Hawksmoor is the best place for steak in London
Very welcoming to single diner, friendly staff throughout and great food and wonderful sour cherry negroni !
Me and my family had a really good time and meal at the Guildhall. From the greeting at the main reception to the waitress service was first especially that everybody knew it was Daughters Birthday and at the end to have gone out off way and put Happy Birthday in Chocolate on her Dessert Plate was 1st Class
Outstanding food and excellent service by Pablo! Will definitely be returning.
