Quality all around
Excellent flavors and decent portions
Great location just back from the beach
Not much food options for the price, very limited...........................................................................................
The Friday and Saturday prime rib and crab buffet was very good. Plenty of options in addition to the crab legs and prime rib. Both were very good. Wine list is reasonably priced.
We enjoyed the prime rib and snow crab buffet. All you could eat and many other extras.
Good value buffet
We always come here to dine, menu is really good and tasty, service is excellent and affordable.
We have eaten at this restaurant at least 5 times anc it is going downhill. Food was average and the service was average. Probably will not go again.
Lots of children. Wife’s Ahi was excellent. My shortribs were just Ok. A bit “gamey”. Drinks were fine. Service was great. Would probably not go back.
Our second time here and food and service always very good. The only "bad taste" this time was that the restaurant canceled both our reservations and the menu venue!
Due to a very large convention on property, they canceled the regular dinner special without notifying us ahead of time! We had to talk to a "manager" before they agree to honor everything.
Three of us had the prime rib which was very delicious and I tried the fresh catch, seared ahi, which was also very good.
Aaron, our server, was friendly, attentive and efficient.
After the bad beginning, the dinner ended quite well!
We ordered from the All Day menu, very affordable. Generous portions. Great happy hour! Try the Mojito Pina Colada, absolutely delicious!
Our server Michael was wonderful.
Our compliments to the staff as a big storm came in just before our reservation
Almost no delay. Food was served very quickly
Service was very slow - and the attitude of the service staff was not the best. When asked if we could get some bread with dinner the response was “Your food is here,” and they walked off. If it wasn’t for the 50% discount on Sunday dinner, this totally would not be worth it. As it is, it was barely worth it, even considering hotel resort markup.
We go for the crab legs...delicious.
A few faults
Flys are attracted to the food , maybe add fans for air movement to deter them.
Asked several times for new utensils and extra napkins, I finally got them myself.
Need small seafood forks to get into the legs and claws.
The staff were great all around!
Understaffed wait staff. Incredibly slow service. Nice setting. Good portions. But the slow service distracted from dining experience
This was terribly disappointing. We waited for our table despite reserving and then waited another half hour for drinks. I have a gluten intolerance and while I indicated that in the reservation, our server had zero idea what I meant by that. I could appreciate that at a small roadside establishment but not at a restaurant of this size and caliber . Instead of provding alternatives or substitutions when I inquired about menu items, he just told me I couldn’t eat the dish I was inquiring about. When I asked why, he then talked to the chef. After a long wait, He returned he told me I could indeed eat the pistachio crusted Mahi Mahi. My husband is not gluten free and ordered the same thing. When we got our entrees, mine was missing the mashed potatoes. Never was a substitution offered. It’s unacceptable in a hotel and restaurant of this size. The entree was $34. That’s an Epic fail for the Marriott Waikoloa.
Service was a bit slow, but it was Superbowl Sunday. Maybe they didn't plan enough staff for a busy evening?
Couldn’t get waited on so we left
Went reluctanly based on some of the reviews I read but we had a great meal and service. The food was really good and the waiter was great. I would give this restaurant a shot. So much better meal than the outrageously priced Kamuela Provision Company.
The outdoor setting was great, but don’t go for the food. Boring menu. My fish was o.k. But it was served with plain old white rice and four green beans. And the rice was dry and sticky. My husband was not impressed with his rib eye. But ... we did enjoy the atmosphere and our server was friendly.
Service was just ok. Food was good and fair price compared to similarly located restaurants. Good for kids.
We went for the all you can eat prime rib and crab legs buffet. All of the food outstanding. I’d definitely recommend them!
It took 10 minutes for a waiter to come to our table. He did not write anything down, and after 35 minutes of waiting, brought my wife the wrong dish. The appetizer was served with the entrees. Very poor management overall, and feral cats crawling among tables to boot.
Our server was terrible... we suspected there may be problems with our order when he tried to memorize it and ask us twice after he left What we ordered. Of course the orders were wrong. The prime rib was good, the chicken was good, but the lobster was almost raw. The server could care less😕 We talked to the restaurant manager the next day and she apologized and picked up the tab for our dinner the next night.
For the exorbitant price of the meal and it being a Christmas dinner we were expecting more then the limited food choices on the buffet. We were very disappointed.
We enjoyed the Christmas Eve buffet
Just now catching up on some of our reviews. Dined at Hawaii Calls on 12/15 for their prime rib and seafood buffet. As a result of hotel remodeling the buffet area and selections have been reduced to make space available for the fitness center. Food selection not as varied as in past visits and quality was either very good or marginal depending upon selection. Very little seafood. Service adequate; but, generally more busing than table visits and/or effort at making you feel welcome, etc. Outdoor seating with views of pool and ocean made the experience very relaxing.
Excellent food and very nicely plated. The service was superb.
Jennee(sp) & Arron are awesome servers for you to enjoy
Thanksgiving Dinner 2017. Food was overall very good. A little pricey for a buffet. But yes it is a resort in Hawaii on Thanksgiving Day. Service was excellent.
We thought that the restaurant was Oceanside but it was not. The meal was good but not as good as many of the other ones we visited. Look for their nightly specials, which are a great value.
We had the prime rib and crab buffet, can not go wrong!
Food was hot, service was friendly and just excellent !
We enjoy this restaurant even if it a little over priced.
Great outdoor view, decent for lunch but disappointing for dinner. Service was not memorable.
Hawaii Calls has a quiet ambiance in a lovely hotel overlooking the pool and gardens. We were exhausted and decided eating at the hotel was the best choice. Service was great but unfortunately, the meal was not. The tomato salad contained tomatoes so hard that they were inedible. The risotto was good and the tofu dish was very good. In retrospect we should have ordered the all you can eat crab legs, as people seemed to be loving those. We will try again as the convenience and relaxation were appreciated.
We dined during a 50% off entre evening. As a result, the overall cost was reasonable, but the dinner was disappointing. My prime rib was done correctly but was cold by the time it was delivered. Service was slow. My wife’s wine was $22 per glass and mine was $18. These were for OK but not great wines. The outdoor setting is nice and the evening was comfortable, but our ocean view was largely nonexistant because our table was at the back of the restaurant.
There are a large number of Kona area restaurants with better views, better food, better service and greater value.
The occasion was our 56th anniversary, weather perfect and the food was as wonderful as my beautiful wife. What more can I say?
The service was excellent. The food was very yummy, delicious and satisfying. The wine was great. My husband and I had such a wonderful experience. The setting was perfect. Couldn’t have chose a better place to spend our anniversary. We could hear the soft singing of the musician from above us. Very romantic. And they brought out a beautiful anniversary dessert for us. We are looking forward to spending more special occasions dining there. Thank you to Hawaii Calls Marriott Waikoloa who made our anniversary night so special.
We spent a weekend at the Marriott and actually ate there 2 nights in a row.
First night was Prime rib and Crab, and 2nd night was 50% off on dinner entree.
The service was fine, and they even remembered our names the second day.
A very pleasant dining experience. The prime rib looked great but was tough. Knives need to be sharper. The service was very good.
