Haven Gastropub Ratings and Reviews
We like the high tables and creative menu. We were told upfront no substitutions...so as not to offend the chef. Burgers, Fries, Wedge and Sheperd's pit were all excellent. A bit noisy, but the mix of high low tables helps. Cool trendy vibe, worth repeating.
Hands down best Mac and cheese my boyfriend and I have ever had and he’s a chef. The grilled wedge salad and frisée salad were out of this world. Wedge is a little pricey in my opinion but the flavor is definitely there. For years my bf has been talking about this frisée salad from haven and it did not sound appealing at all. Once you try it, it’s like nothing you’ve ever had. It’s so darn good. I’m telling you, give it a shot. We also had the poutine fries which were pretty good. The fries were so crispy and the cheese curds were delicious. I literally can’t stop thinking about that Mac and cheese. Service was on point as well.
Great craft beer list and eclectic dishes put together by a great chef. Nice atmosphere too in a cute little town. We were in Anaheim on vacation for a few days and saw Haven pop up on Open Table. Worth the several mile drive. We'll return next time in town.
Generally, I really like Haven Gastropub’s food (the super-loud night-time noise level not so much). However, my “special” New Year’s Eve meal was extremely disappointing because of the entree I selected from the NYE menu. The roasted-beet-and-goat-cheese salad I ordered from the regular menu was delicious, lulling me into believing that the $48 chicken would be amazing. It wasn’t. In fact, it wasn’t tasty at all. It was forgettable—except for the price! My husband’s NYE-menu lobster dish was good, he said, but skimpy. Next time, I’ll order the tried-and-true lamb burger sans bun, saving money and taste buds.
My friend and I stopped in at Haven for dinner before a concert at Chapman University. We split the deviled eggs and the lamb burger. Both were delicious and plentiful. We also had the crisp, twice-fried truffle potatoes. Yum! The service was friendly and efficient. The wine and beer lists were lengthy and impressive. Almost all of the food choices are made for splitting and we noticed that there were several groups who did just that. We only wish that we had had more people with us so that we could've split more dishes!
Came here for a first date and we both absolutely loved it! The beer selection is quite impressive and they had such a huge selection that we forgot to look at the cocktails menu as well, which from looking at the online menu we may have missed out on some interesting concoctions, good thing is there very likely will be a next time! Food wise I had the Pork Belly, which was so succulent and juicy while also being nice and crispy on the outside even with the slightly sweet beer glaze that balanced well with the celery root purée and citrus slices, oh and of course the chicharrons! My date had the grass fed beef poutine, which I was lucky enough to try and I thought it was delicious as well. The beef was so tender and flavorful while being complimented by the gravy plus cheese and fries, it was a super savory dish, perfect for a chilly evening or late nite!
In the end, it was a perfect setting for a first date, maybe a little loud for some, but we were still able to enjoy conversation in the middle of the room. For those who care, the date was absolutely fabulous!
We had a nice time, but my burger tasted odd and my friend's flatbread was cold when served. The server was very nice and efficient. We had a hard time talking at the table because of the noise. My husband enjoyed his shepherds pie. I think we would return without a large group for a drink or two, but not for an evening of conversation.
I was thoroughly disappointed with my experience at Haven. All dishes that we had were either too greasy, too rich or too heavy. Service was also fair. Wait staff took a long time to acknowledge us and did not check on us very much. I was surprised as I have always had good experiences at this restaurant, up to this point.
Good beer and food! Kind of awkward when the manager served us someone else’s soda. Later we ordered our food with our server. A while later the same server came to take our order and immediately started backtracking. I guess he forgot he’d already taken our order? Maybe he hadn’t placed it yet? Anyway, our food arrived about 30 minutes later. As I said, the food was great and so were the drinks. Been there several times. Service is always kind of like that.
Service was not good. Original server disappeared for a long time then another server was helping us out, he took forever to take our dessert order. Then brought out dessert with no utensils. Very poor service, probably will never go back. As a business, there's too many other food establishments in that area to compromise good service. I will choose elsewhere next time.
Our server forgot to bring our drinks. They messed up on one of our food items, which had to be sent back and had to be eaten after everyone else had eaten midway through their meal. And they would not cook the eggs any other way then they were listed on the menu, which was a bit disappointing.
Had The Haven burger which was really delicious. Our server was fantastic, friendly, and didn't screw up customized orders. My drink was also really good. Had enough alcohol in it to be worth the cost, but not so much that it burned my esophagus on the way down. Their wine selection is also fantastic. Would definitely recommend it for any occasion.
What a great place!!! Loved the variety of menu offerings...came for brunch and had lunch and dinner available. Service was OUTSTANDING!! Try the Breakfast Buns for a great beginning to brunch. Sausage Flatbread was delicious, Haven Breakfast Burger was enough for 4 so all of us got a yummy bite. DELICIOUS!!! Music was FANTASTIC....60's and 70's. FUN FUN FUN!!!
We have been to the pub many times, and everytime it is wonderful, however this time was significantly different. Everything we ordered was so spicy, except on the menu description there was no ingredient that would indicate this. Come to find out not every ingredient is in the description, so if you don't enjoy pepper or chipotle be sure to ask what dishes contain these ingredients, since it's most of them. We sent the eggs and corn back which were too spicy to eat when told they weren't spicy. Along with that the chips which were "fresh" but tasted stale... yum. We then ordered the lamb burger which is the only good thing we got on the menu. When the check came they told us they took the items we sent back off the check, well I hope so considering I didnt eat nor enjoy them. They didn't really seem to care that we come here all the time and tried to point out something was off. I would not race back considering the drinks are not great and the finger food has become eh. Disappointing I really use to enjoy this place.
Came for brunch/breakfast.
We were the 2 only people in the restaurant.
One of us ordered the avocado toast but wanted some eggs to go with it/on the side (it is brunch!).
We were told "you can't do that since that's not how the chef envisioned that dish".
We were willing to pay for the 2 eggs.
Still told not possible.
