I live in old town Orange and this is one of my favorite places to eat have a nice wine or a great beer. Always vibrant. Feels good. Very friendly atmosphere./
Food and drinks were spectacular. They have a wonderful selection of food options ranging from poutine to steaks. My wife and I both had wonderful meals as well as our two children ages 7 and 11. No kids menu, but plenty of easy options for them both.
This was a very enjoyable experience with great food and service. Highly recommend this place for a special evening out.
Visiting LA for Disneyland. Friend recommended as worth the 15 min drive. He was not wrong! Amazing food and staff with great craft beer. We are going back!
The food was decent, but the noise level was so high that I couldn't speak to the other person in my dinner party.
Service was great but the restaurant was exceptionally warm on a cold night (?). The bar was extremely busy and the bartender made a mistake on the drinks but the servers/management were gracious and whipped up another batch right away (things happen sometimes!). Good vibe and the food was tasty (a bit pricey though - $20 for a burger!). We don't recommend the steak but it is a gastro pub after all. You definitely won't need to order any appetizers if you order anything that comes with fries - the side of fries is ENORMOUS! Good date venue - tasty whiskey sours!
Haven Gastropub is obviously a very popular place and we were fortunate to get a table for four on a Saturday night. The food is very good with some very interesting dishes prepared with fresh ingredients and very tasty. The service is excellent with a well coordinated wait and serving staff.
The one issue is the noise level. We two couples had some difficulty hearing one another as it was very crowded and noisy. As I said we loved our dishes, delicious Brussel Sprouts, Beets and Goat Cheese, Jumbo Prawns, Shaved Veggie Salad with bacon wrapped shrimp. Very good food and good wine (a bit pricey) selection. Try it if you enjoy good food and don’t mind a high energy somewhat loud.
Never disappoints! The fries are ALWAYS on point and the chicken is NEVER dry! We always get the best service.
"Energetic" and loud. Good beer selection and food choices need to include lighter dishes such as salads with chicken choices.
We decided to give Haven's a go again, but we were disappointed yet again. I never find much on the menu and find it overpriced for the less than Gastro pub expectation. Food was just meh and served on ridiculously oversized cutting boards as plates. The tasteless mini potato rolled right off. The grilled lemon to squeeze on the bland half chicken was so oily on the outside made it difficult to hold and squeeze. The frisée lettuce was in such big chunks (could be cut down just a bit) and did not have much dressing which really needed the oily lemon to add flavor. The chicken was pretty fatty with glops of it on almost every piece. Upside, I really enjoyed their Sauvignon Blanc, The Brothers out of New Zealand...a new find for my fav wine.
Overall, this experience was disappointing. Our first server didn’t put in our drinks and kept asking us if we were ready to order other things. No, please put in our drinks. This is a date. And when she did, $20 for an old fashioned that came out 20 minutes after being initially ordered seems sort of outrageous. It turns out she was covering for our real server who was on break. She put in our drinks and got us started. But though we had sat down first, by then two other tables had been served and given drinks and appetizers before our drinks arrived. Another issue was that we were seated by a wall where two manager type people chatted loudly about the evening. I heard them more than I heard my date, which makes an already frustrating night that much more bothersome. Other issues unfolded, like chicken broth being added to a seemingly vegetarian mushroom soup. So my order had to be changed to a salad without bacon. Typical issues for a veg. The problems culminated with our dessert order: the creme brûlée. Which of course, they were out of. So we ordered the donuts that honestly tasted more like pancakes. Pretty weird. Oh, my days wants to add that the servers kept kicking his chair. He didn’t complain about it then, but it bothered him the whole time we were there.
Everything was great until our waitress tried to shoo us out because they were “stacked on reservations.” We had been there less than an hour and weren’t even done with our food.
One of the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had, loved the beer selections and Tracy was great
Love this place. Excellent beer menu. Food is awesome along with service.
Food was excellent, some of the beers we wanted to try were tapped out which was disappointing. Also, some of the food was unavailable from being sold out for Restaurant Week, which was also disappointing. All that said, the food/drinks we did order were amazing. Love this place, will go again during a less busy time.
Our server JJ was great! Excellent service and food
The service was terrible. We got there early (5:00 p.m.), there were few diners and it took about 15 minutes to give our drink order and another 20 to get our dinner order. One side dish wasn't served until the table was being cleared. A "dinner" beet salad consisted of about 4 beets the size of a cherry tomato and 2 slices of cheese - maybe dinner for a rabbit. The waiter should have said that it wasn't a real salad - with lettuce and big enough for a dinner. The rest of the dinners were ok but nothing special. Later as the restaurant filled up it got so noisy we could hardly talk. Will not go back.
The appetizers were decent. The burger was good, but the fish was horrible. I love opah, but you don’t serve opah like you do ahi, and that’s exactly what they tried to do. Also, you serve ahi with wasabi or something with a kick, not bland mayonnaise sauce. Very disappointing.
Great, food was amazing
Great dinner before a show at the MUSCO. Spaghetti squash pasta was very filling. Had help picking out my beer flight and they were spot on.
First time diners. The food was very good!
The food, drinks and service were amazing!
I met two high school friends at Haven Gastropub for dinner before a concert at the Musco Center for Arts at Chapman University. One of the two friends recommended it. I was really impressed by the food, the service, and the beer. I had the shepherd's pie and an amber ale. The entree was AMAZING. Not only did it look delectable, but it also tasted great. The mashed potatoes were seasoned with rosemary and the pie "filling" had carrots and veggies that were wonderfully crunchy. I've never had shepherd's pie with lamb, so this was a special treat. The beer was perfection and made me feel like I was in a cafe in Europe. We shared desserts - and I am still dreaming about the bread pudding.
We really enjoyed our dinner and cocktails. Our server, Cristin, was very courteous and helpful. Thank you! We think you need to open one of these here in West LA. 😊
Fairly quiet for mid-week business lunch, probably not typical. Excellent food and great, personal service with a great selection of beers.
Ask for Brian,
He was the man.
Great bourbon selection. Poutine was outstanding. A little on the loud side, but we really enjoyed the experience.
Excellent food as always, but the service was just as great. Truly an awesome culture at this restaurant, and it shows guests how much fun the staff has, and how much pride they take in their work.
Great customer service. Food was ok.
I felt the food was just fair. The squash with marinara was flooded with sauce, totally taking away from the taste of the vegetable. The brussels sprouts were very salty due to all the added pork... Maybe less should be used and no added salt! The halibut was nicely prepared. But for the costs of these dishes, not worth it. Won't be back. Also, so very noisy and sitting too far apart, you can't hear your conversations.
Good food, hopping on a Friday night, but a little too noisy. We were so close to the table next to us I could've eaten from my neighbor's plate. It would be nice if they got rid of a few tables.
Really Great :)
We like the high tables and creative menu. We were told upfront no substitutions...so as not to offend the chef. Burgers, Fries, Wedge and Sheperd's pit were all excellent. A bit noisy, but the mix of high low tables helps. Cool trendy vibe, worth repeating.
The Gastropub was fantastic. The food was "gourmet pub food" which was incredible. The burgers are cooked perfectly and flavorful. The selection of craft beers and bourbons was outstanding. I'd recommend for lunch or dinner.
Hands down best Mac and cheese my boyfriend and I have ever had and he’s a chef. The grilled wedge salad and frisée salad were out of this world. Wedge is a little pricey in my opinion but the flavor is definitely there. For years my bf has been talking about this frisée salad from haven and it did not sound appealing at all. Once you try it, it’s like nothing you’ve ever had. It’s so darn good. I’m telling you, give it a shot. We also had the poutine fries which were pretty good. The fries were so crispy and the cheese curds were delicious. I literally can’t stop thinking about that Mac and cheese. Service was on point as well.
Great craft beer list and eclectic dishes put together by a great chef. Nice atmosphere too in a cute little town. We were in Anaheim on vacation for a few days and saw Haven pop up on Open Table. Worth the several mile drive. We'll return next time in town.
My wife and I had a fabulous time on New Years Eve at Haven. First class service and food!
Generally, I really like Haven Gastropub’s food (the super-loud night-time noise level not so much). However, my “special” New Year’s Eve meal was extremely disappointing because of the entree I selected from the NYE menu. The roasted-beet-and-goat-cheese salad I ordered from the regular menu was delicious, lulling me into believing that the $48 chicken would be amazing. It wasn’t. In fact, it wasn’t tasty at all. It was forgettable—except for the price! My husband’s NYE-menu lobster dish was good, he said, but skimpy. Next time, I’ll order the tried-and-true lamb burger sans bun, saving money and taste buds.
Dropped in for a late lunch while antique shopping in Orange. Glad we did. Great beer selection. Mac & Cheese best we have had in a LONG time.
James Baird award winning burger did not disappoint! Fries are the best I’ve ever had, and the cocktail (Apple of my Rye) was perfection. Will be back time and again!
