Limited Happy Hour menu. $19 for a basic burger was steep. Strange/unfamiliar wine selection.
Food was better and more inspired before. Seems like menu shrunk and food is saltier.
We very much enjoyed our visit on Father's day. The food was great as usual but this time the service was less than desired. First our server was slow to come to our table after we first sat down. This is always something I watch for in a restaurant. I believe they should greet you and ask for initial drinks within the first few minutes. It took over 10 minutes before our server came to the table. Second the server seem somewhat confused and overwhelmed as there were long periods between coming to our table. One of the orders was wrong and they forgot the fries that went with the chicken sandwich. While the food was very good all in all the service hurt the experience.
Went with a friend to celebrate Fathers Day, all of our kids live in other states or were out of town, so we had Brunch of Pliny the Elder and Chilaquiles, beer and food were both great!
Great pub with extensive list of alcohol. Our steak was delicious but a bit pricey. Serves local food whenever possible. Friendly service and atmosphere.
We have been going to Havens for the Mac n Cheese for 4 years now. I haven’t found anything else like it!
Overall really good food and ambiance. Super disappointed that the spaghetti squash is no longer on the menu! Mac and cheese was on point!
My son and I had the Haven Burger and my wife had the salmon. The burger was seasoned perfectly for me although cooked slightly past the medium rare requested. The pickled onions were cut thinly and added a brightness to the burger, pairing nicely with the roasted red bell peppers (also thinly cut) and the spiciness of the arugula. Haven uses a modest amount of St Agur blue cheese on the burger, adding a rich layer to the bite - I generally prefer sauces and cheeses to be used with restraint so they don't inadvertently overpower the dish, so Haven's approach was perfect for me. In short, all of the elements worked really well together. The burger is on the smaller side, particularly considering the premium price point, which would be my only real criticism. I paired the burger with the shaved vegetable salad option while my son ordered his with the fries. According to my son, the fries were done well - crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside - which explains, in part, why there were none left on his plate. The vegetable salad was dressed with a beautiful red wine vinaigrette. The vegetables and lettuce were very fresh. My wife's salmon was beautifully cooked to just about medium (which is how she likes it), and seasoned well, although a tad salty for her palate. The salmon had a beautiful sear on both sides. She enjoyed every element of the dish and thought the sunchoke puree was particularly praiseworthy. As with the burger, the portion was on the small side, especially considering the price point.
The ambiance and decor is great, beautiful bar and fun to sit at. We were a big group so sat at a table. Food was delicious and service was awesome! Delicious Beer, great choice too.
Great food, great service, great beer list!
Disappointing overall. Food was overpriced and menu was very limited. Service was average. We had brought out of town guests here for a special graduation celebration and appreciated the ability to make a reservation for a large party. We were greeted and seated immediately. Unfortunately the overall experience was not special; it was average.
We went for Mother’s Day brunch. The ambiance was lovely and the food delicious. We tried the fried chicken and waffles, benedict and the special. All were yummy! Can’t wait to come back to try the Mac n cheese and avocado toast!
Always a great time at haven. Everything is so delicious.
New chef and I didn't think the food was as good. Old favorites aren't on the menu. The food is saltier and they don't have allergy friendly menu anymore. I ordered the salmon veggie chorizo fish and it wasnt good. My friend ordered the meatball appetizer and she said it was too salty to eat. This used to be a favorite for me but I don't be back.
Comfort food, for sure. Be ready for it. We had the pate toast. Excellent. Short rib potine... too many tater tots, and greasy. The pretzel very good. The bourbon and whiskey list is an encyclopedia. Looking forward to a return visit
There was a big difference between our experience this time versus the other times we have been there. The dishes we ordered were just okay, even our favorites. Cannot remember not finishing our meals or at least taking leftovers home. Neither happened this time. Bar was out of our favorite vodka, which was disappointing. Also, no recognition of the special occasion we were there for. This is highly unusual for Haven. Did the ownership change?
We love Haven for their food (mac-n-cheese and burgers, plus their tots!), their variety of drinks, and overall ambiance.
I had reserved via the app and when we arrived they were able to seat us only on the exterior patio despite requesting indoor table. Appetizer was ordered but not delivered. Dessert was comped
The food is delicious and they have a great selection of beers on tap and bottled. The service was great. We both had the roasted chicken - best chicken ever! Thier menu is a little "safer" than it used to be. Miss the fried pig's ears, etc. but overall still really good. Sit outside if you want to actually carry on a conversation though because inside is ridiculously loud. No way to hear anyone at your table.
Absolutely wonderful and tasty food, cocktails were fabulous and service fast and friendly. Atmosphere was warm and inviting. Great find, we will be back!!!
We come here quite a lot to meet our son who is in school at Chapman. It's become a family favorite. Be sure to get a reservation. Truffle Fries...Yum!
Awesome food!! I had the lamb burger with the shaved veg salad and loved it! Service was pretty bad though.
We ate on Wednesday, 1/2 price bottle night. Wine was great and great value, servers aimed to please
Great food. Lot of fries. Very loud though.
I live in old town Orange and this is one of my favorite places to eat have a nice wine or a great beer. Always vibrant. Feels good. Very friendly atmosphere./
Food and drinks were spectacular. They have a wonderful selection of food options ranging from poutine to steaks. My wife and I both had wonderful meals as well as our two children ages 7 and 11. No kids menu, but plenty of easy options for them both.
This was a very enjoyable experience with great food and service. Highly recommend this place for a special evening out.
Visiting LA for Disneyland. Friend recommended as worth the 15 min drive. He was not wrong! Amazing food and staff with great craft beer. We are going back!
The food was decent, but the noise level was so high that I couldn't speak to the other person in my dinner party.
Service was great but the restaurant was exceptionally warm on a cold night (?). The bar was extremely busy and the bartender made a mistake on the drinks but the servers/management were gracious and whipped up another batch right away (things happen sometimes!). Good vibe and the food was tasty (a bit pricey though - $20 for a burger!). We don't recommend the steak but it is a gastro pub after all. You definitely won't need to order any appetizers if you order anything that comes with fries - the side of fries is ENORMOUS! Good date venue - tasty whiskey sours!
Haven Gastropub is obviously a very popular place and we were fortunate to get a table for four on a Saturday night. The food is very good with some very interesting dishes prepared with fresh ingredients and very tasty. The service is excellent with a well coordinated wait and serving staff.
The one issue is the noise level. We two couples had some difficulty hearing one another as it was very crowded and noisy. As I said we loved our dishes, delicious Brussel Sprouts, Beets and Goat Cheese, Jumbo Prawns, Shaved Veggie Salad with bacon wrapped shrimp. Very good food and good wine (a bit pricey) selection. Try it if you enjoy good food and don’t mind a high energy somewhat loud.
Never disappoints! The fries are ALWAYS on point and the chicken is NEVER dry! We always get the best service.
"Energetic" and loud. Good beer selection and food choices need to include lighter dishes such as salads with chicken choices.
We decided to give Haven's a go again, but we were disappointed yet again. I never find much on the menu and find it overpriced for the less than Gastro pub expectation. Food was just meh and served on ridiculously oversized cutting boards as plates. The tasteless mini potato rolled right off. The grilled lemon to squeeze on the bland half chicken was so oily on the outside made it difficult to hold and squeeze. The frisée lettuce was in such big chunks (could be cut down just a bit) and did not have much dressing which really needed the oily lemon to add flavor. The chicken was pretty fatty with glops of it on almost every piece. Upside, I really enjoyed their Sauvignon Blanc, The Brothers out of New Zealand...a new find for my fav wine.
Overall, this experience was disappointing. Our first server didn’t put in our drinks and kept asking us if we were ready to order other things. No, please put in our drinks. This is a date. And when she did, $20 for an old fashioned that came out 20 minutes after being initially ordered seems sort of outrageous. It turns out she was covering for our real server who was on break. She put in our drinks and got us started. But though we had sat down first, by then two other tables had been served and given drinks and appetizers before our drinks arrived. Another issue was that we were seated by a wall where two manager type people chatted loudly about the evening. I heard them more than I heard my date, which makes an already frustrating night that much more bothersome. Other issues unfolded, like chicken broth being added to a seemingly vegetarian mushroom soup. So my order had to be changed to a salad without bacon. Typical issues for a veg. The problems culminated with our dessert order: the creme brûlée. Which of course, they were out of. So we ordered the donuts that honestly tasted more like pancakes. Pretty weird. Oh, my days wants to add that the servers kept kicking his chair. He didn’t complain about it then, but it bothered him the whole time we were there.
Everything was great until our waitress tried to shoo us out because they were “stacked on reservations.” We had been there less than an hour and weren’t even done with our food.
One of the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had, loved the beer selections and Tracy was great
Love this place. Excellent beer menu. Food is awesome along with service.
Food was excellent, some of the beers we wanted to try were tapped out which was disappointing. Also, some of the food was unavailable from being sold out for Restaurant Week, which was also disappointing. All that said, the food/drinks we did order were amazing. Love this place, will go again during a less busy time.
Our server JJ was great! Excellent service and food
