Havana NY Ratings and Reviews
Havana NY continues to be one of my faves in nyc. The staff is top notch with great service. We were one hour late for our reservation and they greeted us with smiles and promptly seated us. The food is authentic and plentiful. My fave is the skirt steak - flavorful and a huge portion. I been to Havana about 6 times and never disappointed.
This restaurant is fabulous. We’ve been going for years and it just keeps getting better. It’s authentic Cuban cuisine. The portions are big. We always take home. The wait staff are friendly and very enthusiastic when serving you. I can’t say enough about Havana. Especially you Abis!
Loved the food, service and location. My husband and I were in Manhattan for a coupe of days for a staycation and decided to eat here based on the location from our hotel. We were so happy we came. The food and service was so good. I had a grilled shrimp dish and my husband had oxtails. Both meals were tasty and the rice and beans were on point! Drinks and appetizers were good as well. We will be back!
This restaurant was a gem find in the theater district. I almost hesitate to write a review on it, it's that good. Started off with empanadas, they were small but perfect with a coconut mojito. We had ropa veija, white rice, black beans traditional Cuban meal. Added both sweet and fried bananas. Amazing! Service was on point, super friendly and accommodating. Felt like we were at an old friends house. We were entertaining our dear friends and wanted to try something new. This was perfect. They loved all the food. We all had to have desert even though we were full as the portions don’t appear like much but everything was very filling. I had my favorite dessert tres leche with coffee. This as well did not disappoint. Excellent service, food, drinks, ambiance and location. That’s a 5 star plus!
My dinner was very good but my wife's steam was tough. The prices are reasonable. Our waiter was personable and attentive to our table. My only concern which was minor is that the food service was very fast and we had to chat while we sipped our wine after our meal. In addition, I would have preferred a paella dish for dinner as well. Overall, Havana NY is worth a another.
A wonderful belated anniversary dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in NYC. Incredible dinner of paella, churrasco steak and lamb chops with great mojitos and sipping rums. We've been going for years and as always it was a wonderful meal and experience. Our server Ricardo was brand new, but very knowledgeable with a great attitude.
Really enjoyed our visit to Havana. We had eaten there years ago before they moved to the new location. Jorge was a very good server. Everyone we came in contact with were very nice, polite, couldn't do enough for you. Food was great, service exceptional! Very pleasant atmosphere.
I would absolutely recommend Havana NY. I came to the city overnight with a rolling overnight bag and they immediately asked if they could stow my bag in a closet. I was early for the reservation and my friend was a bit late but the staff was not the least bit rude and was extremely patient while I was waiting for my friend.
I had the Camarones Enchilado (shrimp in spicy creole sauce) and my friend has the Camarones al Ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce). Both were extremely tasty. Both came with your choice of black or red beans or white or yellow rice, but my friend chose to substitute the rice and beans for grilled vegetables.
Overall this was a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone who is in the mood for Cuban food in midtown.
Went for family lunch on Sunday at noon. We ordered the ropa vieja with white rice and black beans and the churrasco steak with an extra side of sweet fried plantains. The ropa vieja and the steak were delicious and large portion sizes. The black beans we just average as not as flavorful as we would like. The service was very good and kept our glasses filled. I would recommend
Almost choked on the calamari in the seafood paella. The skin from the squid was not cleaned off well. It was stuck there and when you chew n swallow it, the stringy skin was close to causing a choke hazard. Extreme caution was exercised to prevent choking.
Horrible service. The place wasn't even crowded. We were busy talking and realized 45 mins the food didn't come. Called him over and he forgot to place our meals. It took an hour for my friend's entree to come and mine did not come at all. He thought only 1 of us ordered and forgot to place my meal. I cancelled it. Her "blackened catfish" $28 was good. Not sure if this was real "catfish" because it looked like a Porgy. It was fried so you can't tell. We also had the crab cake special $18. Food was on point but the price and service was NOT.
We went specifically for the prix fixe menu listed on their website. I did not see any specific hours or qualifications for the prix fixe menu. The bartender said "oh no, we don't offer that"
We went well out of our way to go there. We had one drink and an appetizer then left!
We had lunch and Jay's service was outstanding. I had the set lunch option while my sister ordered the blackened catfish, both were delicious. There was another server , sorry we didn't get his name, but he was also very good. The whole ambiance and experience was superb. Will definitely go back when visiting NYC again. Thank you.
Havana NY has become one of our favorite restaurants despite some negative like slow service from staff but their cuisine is exceptional. Today was a very slow day for them and our waiter was more interested in socializing with peers than taking care of his customers reason why your tip was low sorry but the service needs to improve love your food but get better waiters
Love taking out of town business guests here. Never have trouble getting a table and the food is fantastic. Its not easy finding good Cuban food outside of NY and Miami. It's not a quiet place, its a Cuban place. It can get loud, but that's part of the ambiance. I take at least one business lunch here a month, and will continue to do so.
The food was excellent especially the meatballs which was a special. The only thing the kitchen felt short was on the tostones. Since it wasn't served with our meal and I believe it was forgotten. They rushed through it and it wasn't cooked through. Also, I requested that it was a birthday lunch and that was not acknowledged as well. That is why only gave it a 4 stars instead of 5.
