Nice place, very good food, and excellent service. The restaurant itself was very nice on the inside, but the location was sort of weird. Convenient location on 38th, but across from some closed stores and offices made it feel a little isolated when you look out the window. Food was very good, but selection a little limited. I know it's NYC, but $12 for a glass of wine is a bit much. Dinner was about $25 per plate.
Always a great time... Excellent meals, attentive staff and great drinks.
Awesome Gem for authentic Cuban Cuisine. Noise level is a bit high. Our waiter ( worked there for five years from their previous location to this one ) suggested that for a more quiet environment to dine after 730 when most of the bar patrons for Happy Hour will be gone.
Not a good experience.
The service was terrible! Upon arrival I asked if we could be seated although the entire party was not there, one host said no and another said it was ok and seated us. When the waiter came to take our order he took one person's order, the next person said she is vegetarian, so the waiter goes to get a vegetarian menu and walks way and does not take the rest of our orders until 20 minutes later. The one order comes out while the rest of us have no food. When the appetizer came out it was wrong. It was a medley of beef, spinach w cheese and shrimp, I ordered chicken and do not eat beef or shrimp. When we inform the waiter he says the table can keep the appetizer they will comp it and then bring me chicken. The entire night orders are wrong, drinks take forever to come etc. When one of my friends calls for a manager we are accused of being at fault because the entire party was not on time and told that my friend said she was hungry and wanted her food first and was hungry (which was a lie). The manager was rude and condescending. We are group of reuniting friends that have known each other for 30 years and the service pretty much ruined everyone's mood for the night. I felt awful because I made the reservation and based on previous ratings thought it would be better. Practically everyone's order came from the kitchen wrong. A friend who does not eat meat got chicken instead of shrimp and was told that is the only difference in dish, suggesting that she keep it. I got boneless chicken when I asked for with the bone. I just ate it anyway because I did not want to give any more complaints. Throughout the night the manager never came back to check on us. At end of the night the 18% gratuity was put on the bill and we paid it although we did not want to but we just really had enough and wanted out of there and did not want to argue any more. We were comped the appetizers and the price was reasonable with the tip so we sucked it up. Terrible Service!!!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The best Cuban food I've ever had. The plantains and guacamole are amazing, as is the rest of their food (Arroz con Camarones is my favorite). Their drinks are also good. I've never had a bad meal here and the service is top notch!
I have to say that this place exceeded my expectations . I went there for dinner with my Dad and we both LOVED it. The service, and prices were pretty good considering the portion sizes you get. And the food was absolutely delicious! Flavors that I can’t even imagine. Dessert was delicious and homemade!
Authentic Cuban food, truly enjoyed our very much experience. My only little knock is that when they cleared our table from our appetizers, they cleared our drinks (finished of course) but the waiter never took noticed and did not ask if we had wanted another round but other than that serve was really good.
Great tasty food and friendly service!
Authentic, delicious Cuban cuisine, served by knowledgeable, attentive waiters in a warm atmosphere.
IVAN WAS MY WAITER AND WAS PHENOMENAL. HE GUIDED MY THROUGH DRINKS AND DINNER CHOICES. I ULTIMATELY ENDED UP WITH THE SEAFOOD CEVICHE (WHICH IS TO DIE FOR). AND FOLLOWED THAT WITH THE LAMB CHOPS. IT WAS THE PERFECT AMOUNT OF FOOD FOR A SOLO DINER. AND WENT VERY WELL WITH MY MOJITO!
The level of authenticity of the food matched with the relaxed welcoming attitude make for a great time.
Food was mediocre for the price. Have had better at other dining Cuban spots
We loved everything about our experience at Havana NYC. The food was fantastic and the service and atmosphere as well. A highlight of our NYC food experience!
Service was excellent. Very friendly wait staff.
Food was very tasty. Good value for your money.
Superb all around. Ivan took amazing care of us.
LOVED this place. Service was excellent. Our food was amazing. The Ropa Veja and Oxtail were aBSOLUELY DELICIOUS as was the churrasco. Really enjoyed our meal and we were not rushed at all. Can’t wait to go back again.
Food was good, price ok considering NYC but atmosphere was boring. Had a lot to work with the Havana theme and just didn't pull it off in my opinion.
This was an amazing experience the staff was welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious the Chef came out to our table and introduced himself. I went with 3 of my friends they loved it the Red sangria is to die for. It has 2 levels which is great for bigger gatherings.
Great drinks and fantastic food! Service was on point as well.
High quality Cuban food, traditional menu selections, well prepared. Wall murals seen in mirror actually look like Havana, seen from the Malecon. Comfortable atmosphere.
Great service, thank you will be back.
Overall it was good. Only thing I was disappointed was that I had requested thru open table and then I had called during the day to remind them to sing happy birthday to my friend and they forgot.
This was our first time at Havana, and we were delighted with the food. The empanadas were delicious, the ropa vieja was perfectly cooked, the sauces served with tostones and empanadas were wonderful. The salad was disappointing - it was just lettuce, tomato, a bit of onion and cucumber with oil and vinegar. We’ve had Cuban salads in other places that were so so much better than this - definitely don’t waste your dining dollars on the green salad offered here. Service was spotty. The bartender on the ground floor was testy - sounded like she was having an off night, but we had no desire to linger there. The person who greeted us at the front podium seemed lost, and we actually had to wait for someone else before we were seated. Once we were seated, it took quite a while for someone to appear with menus. But after that, service improved dramatically and we were really happy with our meal. I’d definitely recommend it to others, and I think the service issues may just be attributed to an off night.
Great experience- waiter was helpful and very attentive. Food was very well prepared. If I’m New York will definitely go back
Good and device was fabulous. Starling, our waiter was amazing. He knows his stuff and made us feel super welcomed.
Great food, great service, very friendly staff. Happy hour on the weekend also from 4-7pm. We went here pre-theatre and it was perfect!!!
Food and service were excellent. I hadn’t been there in a while and didn’t realize they moved across the street. The new place was very nice and the second bar definitely added to it.
The food was great and the service excellent.
Comí la ropa vieja con arroz blanco y habichuelas negras. Mi compañero comió la vaca frita. Ambos platos fueron deliciosos pero estaban poco de sal. El ambiente y el servicio fueron agradables. Repetiría la salida.
My husband had dined at Havana with work colleagues and enjoyed the food. He and I went there for dinner early on a Wednesday as we had tickets to a Broadway show.
I really wanted to like this place as it was nicely decorated, had a warm feel, and the servers and runners were friendly. But I found the food just okay. We got an appetizer sampler and nothing had that "wow" factor. The arroz con pollo was mediocre--rice was bland and chicken was overcooked. The chorizo was the only thing that gave it flavor. My husband had a shrimp dish that was pretty good, but there was not a large amount of shrimp.
The cocktails were the only highlight.
There are so many restaurants in New York City, I am sure we won't be back.
Lovely waiters Attentive and not pushy
But it’s changed from when I first knew it a few years ago. More trendy and Millenial which makes it a bit noisy and the quality of the food has dropped. I had requested a quiet table in the reservation and the hostess looked astonished when I reiterated the request and sort of laughed as though I was expecting more than I could hope for! She then indicated a back table which at least allowed us to talk without screaming to be heard. But the original Havana atmosphere and food was missing
From the attentive service to the amazing food Havana NY is a must visit! We shared the Seafood Paella special and finished with the decadent dark chocolate mousse cake, everything was delicious!
As always, GREAT FOOD and GREAT SERVICE. Mango Mojito was DELISH!!!
Great food and service
This place Havana is my lady favorite Cuban cuisine which I got the pleasure of introducing to her...as my best friend did to me.
It was Valentine’s Day dinner date. Food was everything, drinks - flawless. We look forward to going there again and again.
Don’t change the regular menu ! And if you do at least keep more options ! And regarding the food , it had absolutely no flavor at all!
Delicious meal, good wine selection and attentive but not rushed service. Delightful experience!
Always a great night when I go to Havana NY
Excellent food and service. Very helpful staff. Good cocktails.
