Havana NY Ratings and Reviews
My friends and I were very dissatisfied with the food. There were two other restaurants we knew we're great but instead we went with this one and it was not good. The ropa veja and the Paella was so badly made. The dessert was terrible as well. After spending close to $300 u expect some quality . The staff was nice.
Pleasant atmosphere since renovation. Pollo a la Planca was a let down. Rice and beans were cold and chicken dry at $20 a plate I expect a great dish. Friendly waiters but slow. We asked for drinks and it took 20 mins. Shame as I would like frequent this restaurant but if I go I'll go for drinks.
The dinner was on Saturday (Dec 1) and now that I had a couple of days to digest it. Usually, I take the high road, but as a person that frequent a lot of nice restaurants. This place is cozy, however, the food was very bad. It wasn't seasoned properly and the portions were way too small for the prices. I would surmise, that the executive chef wasn't there and his stand-in isn't quite ready. The rice (yellow) had no flavor and the read beans wasn't as good as Goya from the can (lack any spices and more watery). The chicken (which was simply a boneless chicken breast) was very tough to cut and not properly cooked (too long). So, I would never recommend anyone that wants dinner here (i.e., over priced for basic food and portions are ridicules). I love Via Brazil restaurant (not a plug, just better food and not too far from this place).
Went here before a show because of the on-line reviews. We don't much about Cuban food, but everything was excellent: my wife had the Paella special which was bountiful and very delicious. I had a pork medallion special that was also excellent. Both dishes had an excellent mix of flavors and textures. The service was phenomenal and the ambience very nice.
Havana NY continues to be one of my faves in nyc. The staff is top notch with great service. We were one hour late for our reservation and they greeted us with smiles and promptly seated us. The food is authentic and plentiful. My fave is the skirt steak - flavorful and a huge portion. I been to Havana about 6 times and never disappointed.
This restaurant is fabulous. We’ve been going for years and it just keeps getting better. It’s authentic Cuban cuisine. The portions are big. We always take home. The wait staff are friendly and very enthusiastic when serving you. I can’t say enough about Havana. Especially you Abis!
