Havana Cabana - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
I mentioned to our server that I was looking forward to coming to Havana Cabana. No response. We were the only people in the dining area and were seated right next to AC and I said I was cold. No response. We moved outside. We ordered our food and she repeated what we ordered except one item so I told her as she was walking away and again. No response. The salads were basic, no presentation, mango pieces were MUSHY, pineapple was anemic and greens not crunchy. I am astonished that the Chef would allow them to a table. Rice and beans were flavorless. Tostones were fried too long. I am Hispanic so I know how they should be cooked. I was SO disappointed and it was my birthday. We didn't say anything at the time because I wanted to have a nice dinner but if I was able to do it again, I would have returned everything we ordered. I don't take any pleasure to have to write such a terrible review but the only way to get better is to know. I own a business and as much as it hurts to see such reviews it can only be a benefit in the long run to know the honest truth.
Very DisDisappointed! Took over an hour to get our food. 45 mins in I was told what I ordered, they were out of. They did give us complimentary shots because our food was taking so long. My biggest gripe was that our meals were so different from what was stated on the menu. My husband ordered a fillet (medium) wrapped in applewood bacon with a blue cheese mash what he got was a well done fillet with bacon bits and reg mash with butter no blue cheese and dont know what happened to the fig reduction.
Enjoyed our first visit to Havana Cabana. Our only concern was that they were out of 2 different items that we ordered. No big deal, but I will probably not go back on a Sunday. Service was quick and efficient. Food was delicious and plated nicely. Portions were a good size. Drinks were good and numerous, especially if you like rum drinks. Enjoyed the shrimp and pesto pasta dish . The yellow fin tuna was also very good. I would call ahead for reservations for a special occasion so you can be seated at a more private table.
I'm glad we had a Groupon to try Havana Cabana. We ordered two expensive house "specialties" that were not worth the price at all. When paying over $30 each for a steak and seafood dinner there should be no question about the quality of the ingredients or how the food is cooked. The service, however, was outstanding. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be back.
Good food- the menu is interesting/different(especially for Rochester) and our meals were very tasty.
Service= sub par. We had reservations, but were asked to wait in the bar for ~20 minutes so that the "kitchen could catch-up"....although the restaurant seemed about 60% full. We were (first) seated in the middle of a busy walkway and the table was super wobbly. Appetizers came before our drinks arrived (ordered at the same time). Waitress was pleasant and otherwise was OK.
Havana Cabana is one of those rare restaurants where the experience exceeds its website hype. And its menu offers exceptional treatment of it specialty, seafood. The paella is more than the sum of its ample parts; if you can polish this off, my hat's off to you. Its rum bar offers everything from Caribbean specialties to traditional cocktails and don't you dare pass on the key lime pie.
We were excited by this menu but the reality was, it was awful. We got the stuffed avocado and coconut shrimp appetizers and they were just ok. i got steak oscar for dinner and it was literally inedible. It had "baked hollandaise" which turned out to be a straight up scrambled egg. It wasn't even a well seasoned scrambled egg. I tried to scrape off the so called baked hollandaise but the steak underneath had absolutely no seasoning and I wasn't able to eat it. My husband got the blackened mahi and he said he didn't like it. I didnt taste it but to say the plating left something to be desired would be a gigantic understatement. As far as the service goes, it started out fast and attentive but ended up really slow. We got the appetizers quickly but the dinner took a ridiculously long time to come and was subpar. My favorite part of the evening was the outside seating, as it allowed us to watch the pedal tours go by. They are really entertaining. The pedal tour is the only thing I would recommend.
We came from Buffalo and were seated at 5:15 because we had tickets to a show at Jazz Fest. Although the waitress was pleasant, she failed to bring our appetizer before the meal. We then cancelled the appetizer because the food came out. After our food was served we heard the server at the table next to us read off specials to those seated there and our server never presented us with any specials. The place wasn't at all busy so the wait staff wasn't overwhelmed. The food was okay but once we saw how many other restaurants were in the area we probably wouldn't go back there if we come back into town again.
Very busy and loud in the dining room
Server was great, very pleasant. A little slow at the beginning due to volume of business.
Cocktails were terrific.
Loved the coconut shrimp. Paella was very heavy on allspice. The only part of the dish that didn't taste of allspice was the chorizo. Seafood, chicken, rice, all just tasted like allspice.
Coconut flan flambe was nice, not extraordinary.
Went to this restaurant before the RPO mainly because they give a discount to anyone attending there or Geva, and were very pleasantly surprised. We sat upstairs where we could overlook other diners and the acoustic guitar duo (live music). The menu has a Caribbean flair with a lot of seafood options. They have a creative cocktail menu with a huge variety of rums. The service was friendly and attentive, and our order came so that we had plenty of time to get to our concert. My only regret is that I did not have time to look at their dessert menu! We will definitely go back again.
Sat outside on front patio while it became dusk on a perfect, warm night. Great food and service. Even though we were the only table outside, the waitress was checking on us constantly if we needed anything. Price is pretty good value for the quality of food you get. True Caribbean cuisine and vibe here. Highly recommend.
Glad I booked a surprise dinner for my wife after picking her up at the airport...via opentable. We immediately got a table - experienced the high energy of the music and crowd and started out with unique and delicious island faire drinks.
We had delicious appetizers...coconut shrimp and plantains with salsa was great - and filling so we split a filet mignon. Perfectly done.
Service was awesome, kind, friendly, knowledgable - yet left us alone and didnt bother us. We're so happy this place exists!
The staff treated us very well for our 4-year anniversary. we were greeted by the manager and everything. we had never been there before, but we were more than satisfied with the experience. The ambiance was great, it wasn't really loud at all, the food was phenomenal, the drinks were fantastic. 10/10 would dine here again
Very good except for a lack of martini materials (no Tanqureay, Beefeater, Olives) said a temporary problem. Ordered a Cognac which was served in a rocks glass rather than a snifter where it would normally be served. Some minor alterations would be appreciated.
