Havana is American fine dining with a Latin flair, great atmosphere, extensive wine list, knowledgeable staff and sophisticated menu. Since opening ten years ago, we have been committed to serving local and organic meats, produce and seafood. We search out New England farmers and fisherfolk to purchase products that are not only great tasting, but great for the environment and local economy. Seafood, lamb and meat dishes are flavored with intelligence and respect and change weekly, sometimes daily. Havana is located in downtown Bar Harbor, just a short stroll up Main Street.

Best food we've had in a long time. And we were visiting Bar Harbor from Boston.

Still our favorite Maine restaurant and never disappoints. Service was perfect and the food (lobster paella, steak, cocktails, dessert) were spot-on.

We live in Bar Harbor and this is out go to spot. During the summer it is fun to sit outside in the Parilla for tapas and drinks, and anytime of year the restaurant in awesome. Great food, the best wine list in the state.

The food and service were excellent. The restaurant is quiet allowing for conversation. Wine list is extensive if a bit pricy; however, there are good selections at reasonable rates. I believe the kitchen could have been slightly more generous with the scallop dish - there were only 4 decent-sized scallops. Although scallops are not cheap even at wholesale, 6 would have been reasonable. However, the overall dish was delicious.

A perfect early New Year’s Eve dinner - - excellent food, extensive and fairly priced wine list, attentive service staff and a visit from the owner, “perfect” sums it up. Although I can sometimes dread going out on a holiday, Havana provided the consistent level of high performance service and delicious food that we have experienced on other evenings. My lamb, which I requested rare, was perfectly done. The paella included lobster, shrimp, mussels and scallops - - an exquisite blend. The owner is encyclopedic on his wine list and is eager to ensure your selection fits both your budget and taste. The entrees always appear to have unique ingredients that are perfectly blended and can keep “foodies” guessing on the individual components. A must try for those who live in Bar Harbor or are willing to take a drive.

Havana doesn't disappoint with well-prepared dishes. During a cold snap, we dined in the barn, which was chilier than I would have wanted.

Reception wasn't particularly friendly, afterwards service got a bit better. The food is good, we particularly enjoyed the starters and the desert. The entree fish of the day was also good, the paella wasnt. Wonderful fresh fish added on to a poor rice dish, which wasnt fresh or tasty. Some of the dishes would benefit from simplification, but in general they appeared very well designed and prepared. The selection of wines is surreal, given that the restaurant is located at al fin del mundo. Prices are certainly reasonable. You won't regret going here we expect.

Me and my fiance stopped into Havana on a nice Friday evening. It was a great atmosphere, vibrant with a great aubiance. Our service was good, although probably could have bit better (don't think its reflective of the restaurants as there were better servers there. Ordered the el presidente for a cocktail --- excellent assortment of flavors. The cheese plate was fantastic, and my dinner the lamb, was one of the best lamb dishes I've ever tasted. Excellent presentation, and the flavors were rich. Desert was the chocolate cake with some french press decaf coffee. Both were outstanding. Overall a great experience!

Would have like to have gone a second time but restaurant was closed due to a party. We enjoyed our dinners very much. My husband stated that was the best filet mignon he has
had in a long time.

Consistently a fine dining experience augmented by a fine wine cellar, excellent local ingredients creatively prepared with excellent service. One of the few very best restaurants on Mount Desert Island. Michael Boland, the owner, is intensely hands on and it shows.

Food is overpriced the service was horrible took 10 minutes to get bread and 15 minutes to get a Pepsi. Trying to be a type of restaurant they are not, I never give a bad review but in this case I have to.

Have been to Acadia NP 6 times and while Bar Harbor is generally too crowded for my pleasure Havana has been a consistent "go to." Food is well prepared, service is friendly without being obsequious, don't remember a time that my table wasn't ready within 10 minutes of arrival. That is the case in mid-to late-October. Don't know what it is like mid-summer.

Havana is a thoroughly delightful experience. It has an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable ambience, engaging and efficient (but not overly familiar) service and, above all, great creatively prepared food and a nice wine list with some reasonably marked-up choices. Our choices featured very fresh and carefully cooked seafood, and everything was nicely and subtly flavored. This is definitely a place for repeat visits.

Havana is a great local treasure! We always enjoy dining there and this past visit was no exception. They have a massive wine list which is excellent for finding a unique bottle to pair with the meal. Some of the dishes are spicy but we love food with some kick!

We were seated immediately upon arrival but then we were left on our own for quite some time before anyone got to us to even offer us some water. Beyond that, the service after that was ok. The food was ok as well, but just ok. Having eaten here before several times, we'd found it had slipped a bit. Finally, the bill left us awestruck. For two people, having two cocktails, a $45 dollar bottle of wine, a bottle of sparkling water and two entrees, the bill came to $170. Living between Boston and New York and frequenting both often, we're no strangers to expensive dining for good food, but to pay that in Bar Harbor for a mediocre meal left a bad taste overall.

We had a fantastic dinner. Cocktails, starters, mains, and a dessert - everything was delicious. Menu is creative, service is excellent. The owner came around at the end of our meal to say hello and thank us for coming - nice touch. Wish we lived closer, we would be here very often. Nice work all.
