Havana 1957 - Lincoln Road Ratings and Reviews
We went for my birthday, the portions were small for the price. My husband asked for a birthday dessert and the waitress proceeded to ask for my ID, I gave it to her and she went on to tell me that it was not my birthday so she could not give me the dessert. When I called the manager over, he too gave me attitude and I told him we did not want any dessert anymore. The waitress then came over to ID me again and fought with me that it was not my birthday, and than apologized because she was reading the wrong date. I told her I just wanted my check, where she then proceeded to give me attitude. The food was small portions and wasn't that great, and service was horrible.
This had to be top 5 WORST dining experiences of my travels all over the world. We waited almost 45 minutes just for appetizers. Then, no apology from the manager, almost an additional hour for our entrees (which came out cold and salty). Unbelievable!!! Then, the manager finally comes over after I asked the waitress to get him for me. When he comes out, he offers us a discount on the bill for our troubles. I did not want a discount , I wanted our food. After eating their awful food, the bill comes and NO DISCOUNT! We had to remind them of the discount. He should have comped the entire bill (that's how bad this night was). Completely awful.
Then I go to pay the bill finally (I have a $100 AMEX gift card). The server tells me they will not accept it. Icing on the cake.
Save your money!!!! This place is an awful tourist trap. So many better Cuban restaurants right on Lincoln road (and surrounding areas). Simply terrible. The worst !
Took 15 mins to get out drink order and the drinks are not all that. You get so little for what you paid for. A pina colada should never be served in a small 8 oz martini glass and have the nerve to charge $15 or more. And we barely got water refills and had to get up to get someone to come to our table to get our drink order and food order. Never again. Sorry. I would of rather had gone to la caretta or Versailles for Cuban food. The rabo encendido was great but feel like I got the left overs. Two rabos that's it.
My reservation was not honored when I showed up. In fact I was told I could only order drinks since the kitchen was closed. It finally took about 20 minutes to get seated. I would not recommend using open table at this restaurant they do not abide by the rules.
There is a good reason why Miami Beach has several locations of Havana 1957. Lincoln Road combines a great location with outdoor dining. The food is excellent, and the service is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend the tostones, vaca frita and tres leches, with a pitcher of mojitos.
Some things were delicious! The croquetas, the flan, the white fried sweet potatoes 🍠 and the tostones!
The steak the palomilla one which is a Cuban staple as well as the maduros another Cuban staple were far from good. And I'm a native Cuban!🇨🇺🇨🇺.
We were later told by some locals that the place is about to go bankrupt!!
I'm going to try to remain unbiased towards my experience first in saying that the place looked really cool. Ambiance is fore sure a strength. We had a party of 4 and were seated outdoors on a record breaking heat wave day. Tables are small and jammed up, music is loud - but part of the scene. Right off the bat the servers are not overly friendly, almost seem impatient. Food was good- the house specialty chicken was excellent and my friends like the seafood. At the end of my meal we realized my purse was stolen. This is where my review gives low scores. The staff and management really couldn't give a crap. While waiting for the police to file a report staff basically kicked us out. Offered nothing, no water, a seat, nothing but a few excuses on how this could never happen here and that it wasn't their staff. Not saying I shouldn't have been more careful in a tourist area, just saying management of the situation couldn't have been worse. Has anyone else experienced theft here?
Like every place in Miami, the service was mediocre at best. Throughout this trip we've yet to find a server that is attentive. It was nearly impossible to get a second drink and by the time we got it we were done with our food and wanted the check. Our appetizers and meals were good, but not warm enough and took around 25 each to arrive to the table. I was surprised they didn't have a quicker turn around in such a prime location. Overall it was just OK, I would not go back.
