Hau Tree Lanai Ratings and Reviews
Such a wonderful atmosphere and view. Got there at 7:30am and got a great seat closer to ocean. Ordered the breakfast with pancakes, eggs, spam and sausage and pineapple (small pineapple cut in half and you ate it out of its shell). Also ordered the croissant. My husband ordered the waffles. Food was great, service was wonderful, and view was amazing under the Hawaiian tree. Would definitely go back.
We are from new Zealand and have been to the Hau Tree now 3 times over 15 years. It is my favourite restaurant in the whole world! This time we brought our family with us to celebrate my retirement and pre 70th birthday. I love the pink tablecloths and the twinkling lights in the trees right next to the white sand beach. The food was to die for and the service very impressive. Ted, the restaurant manager communicated with me before we came re receiving real flower leis for us all and ordering a delicious celebratory gluten free chocolate mud cake for dessert.
Our photos were a bit dark but my grandaughter thinks she can lighten them.
We can't wait for our next trip to Honolulu and especially to the charming Hau Tree restaurant at the New Otane hotel.
We were celebrating our anniversary dinner here. The setting is very nice and romantic. We were seated right underneath the tree as was our request and staff was prompt and sincere. They even provided a complimentary cheesecake for our anniversary which is a nice touch. Given the location and view It would be nice if they restrict the place to couples and family without young children just to make it more enjoyable.
We got here right before they opened at 5:30pm for an amazing seat right under the Hau Tree. It was perfect timing to watch sunset on the beach. The servers were attentive but not overly so and dinner felt relaxed. Everything we had was delicious but I especially loved starting with a caprese salad, it was thoughtfully split for us and plenty for two.
I hope I'm lucky enough to come back soon.
You can't beat this restaurant for the view or the romantic ambiance, but you can for the food and service...
In August we were pleasantly surprised when we had dinner at Hau Tree Lanai for my husband's birthday. The food was much better than it was when we were there last several years ago, and the service was outstanding, so much so that we decided to celebrate our December anniversary there. Well, the server we had last time was not the one we got this time. If it wasn't for the other servers and the bartender's help we wouldn't have had food or drinks. Our server showed up to take our order and collect the bill. Other than that, I had to go to the bar to order wine and flag down other servers for our dessert order and check. I sure hope he split his tip with his coworkers. Aside from the service issue, the food was just ok. The sauteed catch of the day was dry and the steak was as not as good as I can make at home. I was hoping we could start coming back more but I think we'll wait until things improve again.
It was raining. Hau tree lanai has indoor seating but the reason to go there is the view of the ocean and beach.
Food was better than the last time I was there, a year ago. Service good trying to deal with rain, a busy day (hotel lobby and parking valet full) and limited dry seating.
We enjoyed ourselves but understand this is not a bargain...$$$$.
Go on a sunny day, bring your wallet, and enjoy .
A friend and I ate here on Christmas Day. The menu was varied with both brunch and lunch choices. It was crowded but the service was good and we were not rushed. I had the Crab Cakes Benedict, which was excellent. My friend had the Spicy Shrimp Pasta and he said it was very good.
Hau Tree Lanai is the restaurant I choose when guests are in town. The food is always good and you can’t beat the view, especially at sunset.
We came for breakfast on Christmas morning, and Hau Tree Lanai lived up to the special occasion. I’ve always thought this was the best location for beachfront dining in Waikiki. Lanai is right off Kaimana beach, our table beneath the gorgeous Hau Tree. We’ve been coming for many years, and have seen the same waitstaff year after year, all of whom are personable and friendly. Menu has not changed much over the years (they do offer gluten free and healthier options), but breakfast items are very well done with generous portions, including half a papaya or quarter pineapple (sliced) . Coffee is good and refilled continuously. Great value for the location and quality. We make a point to come every year when we are on Oahu and always look forward to it!
