The Hau Tree Lanai is an institution. Been around forever in a beautiful setting on the beach with local oldtimer waiters that know what they are doing. Food is always excellent and the ambience is quiet sophistication in a authentic retro setting/hotel. Entrees (lots of fish) in the $30's.
Absolutely wonderful! We had a fantastic waiter and the food was delicious.
I think the scenery is beautiful and nice. But service was bad and regrettable.
Always has been my favorite breakfast place since I last lived in Hawaii over 12 yrs ago. Scenic beachfront outdoor ambiance that cannot be beat. Wonderful staff and great food. I always make it a point to have breakfast there whenever I am in town. Everyone of my party of 10 that morning was wowed by the beautiful beachfront outdoor ambiance of the Hau Tree Lanai that they put it on their list of places to visit whenever they come back in town. Reservations are not required but I do recommend that you make one so you can me seated immediately otherwise wait can be an issue. One can also make reservations online which is what I did for a larger party and they were prepared for us and seated immediately. Enjoy a walk or run around Kapiolani Park followed by a dip in Kaimana Beach and top off with a great meal at Hau Tree Lanai. You will not be disappointed.
Fish is so fresh here. The terrace is just wonderful every table is good. Attentive service and varied menu
My frutti di mare was tasty and plentiful, and the bread was so fresh it was too hot too handle! We had lunch there too and the vegetable curry was outstanding flavor and kept me energized all afternoon. Recommend this place highly.
Outstanding service. Pre fix menu was delicious. Beautiful view, quiet place.
A wonderful place for special occasions and visitors.
One of our favorite places and a hidden gem. The food is always good with a selection to please your palate. Easy and comfortable surroundings and not a rush, rush place. Good for people watching, sporting and expertise activities and all of the wedding photo sessions of couples getting married.
HTL is a throwback to old Hawaii and it's one of the very few places on Oahu that still retains that feeling. The food and service consistently good and it's the perfect alternative to central Waikiki.
Fantastic views, right on the beach, wonderful atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Menu matched the setting. Celebrated our 40th anniversary.
The setting is great. We were seated at a table under one of the Hau trees looking at the beach and the ocean. Service was attentive but sloppy (spilled coffee and water on the glass tabletop and didn’t wipe it up until asked). The salmon benedict was just okay. They don’t have brunch; it’s either breakfast or lunch and they close for a while between the two.
Brunch at the Hau Tree is our favorite place to celebrate the end of our visit to Honolulu. The view off the lanai is outstanding. You can see Waikiki in the distance, but we enjoy the quiet here.
If you have a hankering for the island favorite Loco movie, don’t do it here. Here it is so good, you won’t be able to enjoy it anywhere else.
Altogether a wonderful experience...
This was my first time dining for brekkie. It is exceptional food and service just as dinner. I will now go at least once for my morning meal. A must if you want a spectacular location and memorable food and dining
Our second visit to the Hau Tree Lanai. I proposed to my wife 28 years ago here and we returned. Excellent food, setting, and wonderful wait staff.
The cost didn't match the value. The food was just that - food. Nothing spectacular, nothing anyone else cold have done. It just was overvalued. Service was good, however.
It never fails. I’ve gone for years, at least once if not more, on yearly visit. The service is exceptional as is the food. If you want a beautiful sunset then dine @5:3@. The beachfront location can’t be beat
Excellent view, amazing food and attentive/timely service - I did not feel rushed at all, in fact we had a very relaxed meal with a beautiful view.
My husband and I loved our table, food, and service. It was a wonderful experience.
Best restaurant in Honolulu. Service and food is consistent!
I go every time in Hawaii and send friends there too.
We ate here after we got married. Romantic and personal place. Beautiful setting, great waitstaff and the best ever food! Enjoyed each second !
Although we were expecting to have the Sunday Easter Brunch, the breakfast menu turned out to be just right for our 7:15am seating! Service was friendly, fast, and amazingly calm during the early morning. We ordered a variety of items: hotcakes, french toast, omelet, and corned beef...all wonderfully prepared to our liking! The corned beef was made from scratch & exceptional, compared to the others. Mahalo nui!
Took my date here for a very special occasion. It had been a couple of years, but the food quality and ambience were, if anything, even better than I remembered. Prices are stratospheric for my moderate income, but well worth saving up to celebrate a special event. Both the appetizer and our entrees were mind-blowing in quality and presentation. Service was a bit slow as the place got busier. Gorgeous setting on Sans Souci Beach--appropriate for a "No Worries" occasion.
Great food and a great ambiance are only as good as the person you share them with.
Service excellent! Food is excellent. I had the hawaiian breakfast. Mmmm. My favorite!
Amazing dinner at Hau Tree Lanai! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we felt so special and were treated like royalty! Fantastic table right on the beach, sunset views and fireworks! Our main server Alan was knowledgeable, humorous and very attentive. Kudo's to all the staff. Great live guitarist in the background, we were never rushed during our 2 1/2 hour meal. Food and drink was excellent, great wine and cocktail selections. We shared shrimp salad and crab cakes, and both had a fish for our mains. Dessert was great as well. Varied menu, something for everyone here. A wonderful place away from the maddening crowds, we will return! Thank you Hau Tree Lanai.
Great location for breakfast! Food good and service was excellent.
A little great little find Amazing location and Jun was simply a fantastic server , food excellent and sunset seat
I’ve been coming to Hau Tree since the 60s, and have never had a bad experience. The service and location can’t be beat. I’ve introduced your restaurant to friends, and they always come back again, with me or without me. Can’t say better than that.
Had to come back a second time because the first was so good !
Mac nut/coconut French toast and crab cakes Benny, a perfect breakfast.
Aloha, Such a great experience for any occasion...My family and I live on different parts of the Island and love meeting here. :)
We went there for breakfast - we heard there is a usually a wait so we made the reservation for 10am - there was no wait & we were seated right away, the view was perfect - looked right onto the beach/ocean. Downside: there were a lot of birds/pigeons (and I live in NYC!!). One pigeon grabbed toast off a table and the toast landed in another patron's glass of juice. I personally don't like eating with animals especially dirty pigeons. That con and the expense -over $60 for pancakes, OJ, iced tea and eggs benedict, taxes & tip - was a bit much. Pro: view and great eggs benedict.
