Had a wonderful meal watching the sun set in an open air setting under the Hau Trees. A very memorable dinner. The plates were generous portions and very good food with prompt and discrete service.
The vege curry wasn’t as good as before. It was sweet and tasted too much coconut milk. The sandwiches looked good.
We arrived considerably early yet we were accommodated graciously with a nice table for two with a sunset view. We started with salads, the Hau Tree special and a Caesar, and then had two of the several fresh catches of the day, grilled ahi and steamed onaga, both cooked to perfection. Our leisurely dinner was capped perfectly with coffee and fresh berry desserts. A wonderful time as usual.
Overall wonderful experience! The view along beachside is spectacular, it reminds me of how lucky I am to be living in Hawaii. The atmosphere is easy and relaxing, I don’t feel like I’m in a tourist spot in Waikiki. Its as local a feel as anywhere outside Waikiki . We enjoyed the Seafood di Mare, our friends who we were with each enjoyed their Shrimp Scampi and the Opakapaka! A def go to place for all occasions!
The atmosphere and view were amazing. Very quiet and private. The food was spectacular. The service was very good. We did not feel rushed or bothered, the staff attended to our every need. A wonderful experience. We will be back.
The setting, outdoors and facing the Pacific Ocean, was beautiful and romantic. The food, very ample. The Crabcakes and the Mixed Grill, which my husband and I both ordered, were quite good. Would recommend this restaurant to seafood lovers. We will return.
Our first time visitors from Georgia, guests at the New Otani, didn't know what a gem was in their hotel. We enjoyed a lovely sunset dinner, watching catamarans and beachgoers, serenaded by live music. The duck and the trio appetizers were great openers for the delectable opakapaka Chinese style (consistently my favorite) and the surf and turf entrees. Service was gracious and timely. A perfect welcome!
(And parking, access were so easy)
2nd breakfast. We are staying at the hotel.
We’ve been coming here for 30 years now.
Poached eggs soft as requested. Your basic American breakfast but with rice. No waiting either. Got a table waterfront as requested thru Opentable. Watch out for tour groups !! Make a reservation....
There was not enough lighting even to read the menu
Been coming since 1985 every year. First time I had to wait 20 minutes even with reservation.
3 tour groups took 3/4 of the restaurant. So, make a reservation and hope for the best.
Sitting by the beach in a quiet section of Honolulu and enjoying wonderful food at a not unreasonable price for Honolulu is a memorable experience.
Lovely setting. Made reservations for first seating at lunch and was treated very well by host. Called out our name so that elderly mother could get started toward the table.
We were on a cruise and had only one day on Oahu. We had lived there for 5 years, but that was 40 years ago. The Hau Tree Lanai made our one day encore very special. Fantastic dining and great service right on the beach. The restaurant advertises "best view of sunset." It had been an overcast day so we were not very hopeful. However, right on cue at sunset the clouds opened up and we were treated to a spectacular sunset of the kind we had been accustomed to 40 years ago. We will definitely go back the next time we visit Hawaii.
The food was delicious and the service was top notch, everyone was so kind and friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had the perfect brunch!!!
lovely atmosphere and great staff. the food was excellent and unique to the area. a must do to get out of the city and enjoy a romantic dinner. LOVED IT!
Excellent service and food. Friendly and attentive staff.
Wonderful romantic anniversary dinner!!! We also had a wonderful breakfast there and enjoyed it very much!!
Surprised my wife with dinner here for our 30th Anniversary and our last night in Waikiki . Was to cloudy for the Sunset view , but the view was amazing anyway . She said "It's Beautiful here darling , Thank You !" The food was amazing and delicious ! The service was a step above many other restaurants in Waikiki . By the time dinner was done , I knew , I had pick the Best place for our Anniversary Dinner !
This is our special restaurant to come to to celebrate or a romantic dinner. We also had our daughter's wedding reception here. Delicious food, excellent service, fantastic view and great ambiance. Perfect!!!
The premium Eggs Benedict was expensive and made with low quality steak and lobster. The soft-poached eggs were over cooked, too. The wait staff was very inattentive and just didn’t seem too care at all. They were also arguing over who had what tables. Only good thing about this place was the view.
Everything went great! Valet for parking, walked straight to restaurant and was seated at a beach view table under the hau trees. Our waiter was very attentive and on top of things even before we had to ask...Food was amazing. Crab cakes and fish we so good! Definitely a great spot for celebrating our anniversary and took a little migh
Prices were fair. Service was great as was the view, and the guitar player, but the food was terrible.
My visit to Hau Tree Lanai was the fitting end to my Honolulu vacation. I treated myself to a birthday dinner at this marvelous restaurant with great food (the apple tart - mmm), on the spot service and an incredible setting. Of all the sunsets, this night had the best and the overall mood with the tiki lamps, etc. indescribable. Not sure if/when I will get back to Honolulu but will definitely come back to this restaurant if I do.
Great view, great food, great drinks and service! Would dine there again.
Our experience was outstanding! Service could not have been any better and the ambiance was simply spectacular. I highly recommend Hau Tree Lanai!
Here is the sunset view from our beachfront table.
Miso Saki Salmon was delicious. Ate here several days. Would highly recommend French toast with coconut and macadamia nuts. Try the lily koi syrup. Yum
Hau Terrace is always delicious!! We are always pleased with the great service, friendly staff and relaxing view.
Be sure to make a reservation if you’re going for breakfast, the eggs Benedict is the best !!
We went to Hau Tree for Sunday brunch and could not have been more pleased. Great open air oceanfront restaurant, delicious food and great service. Can’t wait to go back again. Bon Apetit!!
Absolutely perfect for my birthday celebration. Romantic outdoor dining at sunset, right on Waikiki Beach along the Gold Coast. The fresh fish is so ono delicious with various preparation options. I chose the Opakapaka with Citrus Mango with brown rice and fresh seasonal vegetables. My husband had the Opakapaka prepared with a lemon butter caper sauce. Enjoyed our 5:30pm dinner with plenty of time to Uber to the Diamond Head Theatre for a 7:30pm show. Excellent for lunch or dinner. The service was excellent and the menu lists which items are Gluten Free.
I had dinner with my family and had a table by the ocean. It was nice view. But it was busy because Friday so we should have had at 6 o’clock before.
We enjoyed Hau Tree to celebrate our 10th Anniversary dinner. The caprese salad, spinach bacon salad and broiled Mahi-Mahi were all very good. The atmosphere was fantastic under the hau tree while the sun set over the Pacific!
