Short and simple, this place is absolutely amazing. The service was top-notch, the ambience was exactly what you would like in an upscale restaurant downtown. The food… Oh my goodness the food was so incredible. The risotto literally melted in your mouth. The scallops were like none we had ever had before and we’re perfectly cooked. Our main courses were such an eclectic mix of amazing flavors that we just did not want the meal to end. You have got to go to this restaurant if you want to have an amazing foodie experience.
Harvest has fantastic food and superb service. It is quiet enough that one can actually have a conversation without yelling. Good view of the Capitol.
The maître d’ was short with me and rude regarding my reservation. It was early evening and we wouldn’t have needed reservations through OpenTable but I used it anyway.
Our server was thoughtful and did a good job accommodating my friend who is allergic to garlic. I have dined at Harvest several times before and it was exceptional. Today seem to be an off day and also we were dining early, around 6 PM. Maybe it was an off day for them. I had the whitefish and it was good. My friend’s salmon was overcooked.
The seasonal menu always has great, local ingredients. Highly tasty - and highly recommended.
The service, food, and wine were great. Would definitely go back!
Excellent find in the heart of the Capitol (Madison)! Quite the gem-- food is delicious and well-presented. Although this was for dinner while away on business-- I would gladly spend my own money here. Focused menu but enough variety for all tastes. Excellent for vegetarians as well (2 of our party of 4) which is kinda hard to accommodate sometimes! We had quite the assortment at the table to try a lot of things so it's quite easy: just go here. Both craft cocktails and the classics are extremely reasonable-- and they have Grey Goose Citron and many other top shelf brands (I hate when restaurants cave to Absolute). Only negative is that the bottles of wine are pricey for what they are-- most of the decent stuff starts at $66 (and with entrees in the 20's/low 30's its a bit out of whack). I suggest they get a few Cremant d'Alsace selections on the menu to get the mark-up they need but fit better in a bit of a budget.
Since our last dining experience at Harvest we were looking forward to dining here again. We were quickly greeted and seated. I had a queasy stomach from all day travel and when I asked for a ginger ale to calm my stomach the bartender that greeted us said that he would get me something to help. He poured a small glass of an aperitif for me to sip. It was like a miracle because within a few minutes I felt great. Mu husband ordered the chicken and ate every bite. I was a bit leery to eat anything so I had the appetizer risotto with squash. Delicious but the risotto could have cooked just a bit longer. The wine list is extensive and offers half bottles which is great. Overall the experience was delightful.
Everything was great.
The food was great but the portions were tiny, you have to at least order three items to feel satisfied. The duck confit special was so small with maybe one ounce of duck and the rest cornbread pancakes and for $30 that was a ripoff.
Awesome experience. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and dishes. We asked for suggestions, took him up on several and were not disappointed. Menu items were very good and the Duck special was extremely good for those that ordered. For farm to table and the high degree of preparation I found it to be very reasonable especially when comparing to other restaurants which claim the same space. Harvest is right on the capital square giving a nice view of the capital building and all the activity. Great place, not as loud as other places around the square. Will go again.
Harvest’s reputation is based on presenting farm fresh ingredients in creative ways. On this visit we found the menu to be pretty standard—nothing out of the ordinary or pushing the culinary envelope. The food was fresh and well-prepared but nothing out of the ordinary for this level of restaurant. Overall we had OK food served professionally in a pleasant setting.
WE had a great meal. We were with a larger group, and the staff was able to accommodate our last minute request to add two more to our group.
I am so glad I got to visit this restaurant. Great wines, delicious food and friendly staff. I will go back every time I am in Madison.
My wife said it was the best meal of her life. Our waiter was awesome and we can’t wait to return.
Our server was fantastic. Food was excellent. Even our kids liked their food. Highly recommend
Food is rather bland. Atmosphere is nice. Wait staff if great.
The place was busy and we had reservation. We were sat within a minute of when we got there. Everyone was friendly and service was awesome. Food was awesome. The sizes we a little small but overall amazing restaurant.
First Valentine's Day dinner together!
Everything was perfect!
One word. Fabulous! From Max our knowledgeable and efficient waiter, to the creative and perfectly cooked food, Harvest is a great dining experience. This was our third time there and all aspects of the restaurant have been consistently excellent. Be prepared to pay more than many others but it is worth it.
The food here is incredible and her staff go the extra mile for their customers. I highly recommend this restaurant, and would especially suggest that you come in for one of their special multi-course dinners with wine pairings. So fun and good!
This is one of our favorite places in Madison, and Madison has a lot of good restaurants!
We had a great server! Food was delicious
First and second course were delicious! The risotto was amazing! The mussels were just okay and the orange cake was extremely dry to the point that I didn’t eat it. $5 for a soda is crazy especially when you only have one glass. Not much privacy since the tables are so close together and the lighting is horrible and makes it uninviting.
My husband and I visited Harvest on Friday during the Winter Restaurant Week and had a wonderful experience. We found the cocktails to be delicious and the menu selections to be perfect. For starters I chose the House salad while my husband chose the parsnip soup. Both were great. For the main course I decided on the short ribs with mashed potatoes and my husband went for the risotto. Again they were both perfect and just the right amount of food. Finally, for dessert, we both decided on the cocoa panna cotta, which was to die for! OMG it was good. Thank you Harvest for a truly memorable meal. We'll definitely be back.
Wow! The meal was wonderful. Great service from a very professional staff. The prices were reasonable. The view of the Capital from Harvest's front windows are the best in Madison.
We went during Restaurant Week.
Every single thing we ordered was excellent. The service was very good. I enjoyed my cocktail. The downside, is that the seating is very close to the people next to you and it was more loud than I would prefer for a special dining occasion.
Our second time at Harvest and probably not our last. I had the beet soup again and liked it as much or more than the first time. our party tried the scallops, excellent and I had the pork chop which was extraordinary. Tender, moist and delicious. Just cooked enough. An extraordinary restaurant. Love it.
Great dinner with New Year's Eve menu. Elegant food but not pretentious.
Everything was delicious, and the staff was very nice.
Menu is great, nice local touch. Food is prepared perfectly. Excellent presentation. Menu items stay for appropriate amount of time before changing.
The food was amazing, our server, Heidi, was fantastic, and the atmosphere was cozy. Would definitely recommend.
Savory seasonal cuisine. Great service, wonderful specialty drinks, lovely atmosphere and view of the capital.
Excellent meal served by a well trained staff. We were a large party and were seated away from the main dining area per my request because one of our party has a hard time hearing. The food was excellent. Suggestions were right on and we could not have enjoyed the meal more.
Food was great, service even better. Very friendly staff. Delicious!
Outstanding and knowledgeable service. The chicken is exceptional--worth ordering, even if you don't usually order chicken out. The wine list has excellent variety. Appetizers were very good, as well. The beet salad, and the beet soup, tasted very fresh.
Perfect evening, great service, exquisite food, lovely atmosphere...
