Harvest - Wisconsin
Amazing service and exquisitely prepared, local sourced food.
We went to celebrate our anniversary (we mentioned this in the reservation details that it was our anniversary and this is where we had our first date, so we figured they would be excited, too!). Nobody at the restaurant seemed to notice this until they asked why we were there. Even after that, they did nothing special at all in celebration. They were out of two wines and we were recommended a champagne that was more like a cider which we had to send back. The food was fair (some dishes were very good) but not for the price of what you can get in this city. As one of the only tables there, the service felt very slow. The dining experience felt overly formal and stuffy for the quality of food and service. Overall, it was definitely not worth the expense when you can go to restaurants a couple blocks away for a much better experience.
Wonderful service and fantastic food! The staff was very helpful with recommendations and requests for sharing salads and dessert
The three others in my party were more enthralled with their entrees (salmon and lamb) than I was. I thought my pasta, though it tasted good, was not worth the price. Also, it was warm but not hot. The rolls were delicious. My salad was tasty and interesting. Although my husband will probably go back, I'd rather go somewhere less expensive next time we're in Madison. Service was friendly and attentive.
Our dishes were fantastic, as was the wine. Service and ambiance (quiet but not stuffy) were wonderful.
We have dined at Harvest on many occasions but this time (our 42nd anniversary celebration) was a disappointment. The appetizers and entrees were mediocre. The waiter highly recommended the chicken but it was nothing special and, in fact, portions of it were gritty. The entrees were no longer hot when they arrived at our table. (The restaurant was not busy.) Dessert, however, was excellent: rhubarb sorbet and strawberry ice cream.
Side note and not the main reason for our disappointment: I am celiac and Harvest has never served me anything that made me ill. I did become gluten sick thereafter and although I cannot be sure (there is a lag time for me before the gluten sickness hits), I did not eat anything else that I believe could have made me sick. (I did no other eating out and I am very careful at home, where we have a gluten free kitchen.) This happens even when the restaurant tries hard to prevent it and I understand that; it is a risk I take to eat at good restaurants. My main reason for being disappointed was the low quality of the appetizers and entrees.
Excellent waiter who steered us to great variety if dishes. The food was exceptional good.
Always fabulous food and service!
Brilliant food from a caring and dedicated staff.
Great birthday dinner. Gwen was a superb waitress!
Great service! We loved Max. My favorites were the pommes frites and the orange cake. No surprise there as I'm typically an app and dessert person.
I love the locally sourced food. It's a good experience. Sadly, I feel like the food flavor is just okay for the price.
We drove 500 miles to get to Harvest and we're not disappointed. Of course, this was not the only reason, but it made a long drive worth it. We wished we could find something as good as this in Minneapolis, Baltimore, even NYC. The food, wine, staff, and ambiance were wonderful and inventive.
Love this place, like probably our favorite place in Madison - because it gets 5 stars on all aspects of being there, not just the great food and service. Ambiance great, music always tasteful and the right volume, interesting menu and can accommodate our food limitations.
SUCH GOOD FOOD!! Came with a group and we all loved it and will gladly return!
Excellent staff. Locally sourced and sustainable menu. Very good for business dinners.
Service was ok. Had to send steaks back to get cooked to requested temp, one twice. Normally not a big deal but expect more of a fine dining restaurant.
The food was excellent and the restaurant ambiance was great, but I have a hard time recommending because the value is out-of-line. I should have figured it out when the waiter kept hinting that we each should order first courses because the entrees aren't "overbearing". The portions were tiny. I paid $30 for 4 raviolo--yes, just 4. I don't need Applebees portion sizes, but I also don't think I should leave a restaurant hungry after paying$50/pp for an entree and a drink.
It was great overall. The food was good as was the service. We just had the bad luck of sitting next to a table who was extremely loud with no concern for the others dining around them. Would very much recommend just be prepared for loud people especially if you’re going on a weekend night.
Food was excellent. Seemed a bit understaffed. We told them of theater time. Dessert was slow and we had to take it to go
We went here for our anniversary. The food's delicious. It's a bit spendy, but great for a special occasion.
Food was fantastic, but service was too formal and aggressive for us.
Good food but not quite what it was Still, worth a trip and visit.
We haven't been to Harvest in a while but the food and service were excellent. The dessert we had was a little disappointing but we should have chosen better. Our waiter, Ben, was phenomenal.
The servers were all attentive, courteous, and friendly, always a good sign in a restaurant. Unfortunately our food choices were not at the same level. The item prices are high compared to other restaurants in the area and we didn’t feel that our dining experience would warrant paying those prices for a return visit.
The service was outstanding and the food was delicious! It is a bit pricey so, for me, our next visit will be a special celebration. I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend Harvest to anyone.
The food, drinks and staff here were all equally wonderful! Highly recommend to anyone looking for an upscale place for a special occasion - we’ll be back!
Harvest is a incredible date night location. The staff went out of their way to make our dining experience top notch! I can’t believe it has taken me this long to experience this gem. Can’t wait to return!
Impressive evening at Harvest with excellent and entertaining service, spectacular food served with attention to presentation, and tasteful decor. We really enjoyed our time there!
We celebrated our 10th marriage anniversary and the stuff did everything to make it feel special for us. Food was great, champagnes even better, and service absolutely outstanding! Thank you all for a wonderful evening!
Food is very “Champ”. We always attend this restaurant on our anniversary.
The food was fantastic! The rabbit starter was especially amazing. Great cocktails as well.
A favorite place for a special meal. Wife's steak was amazing. I had vegetarian ravioli because it's just so good. Service is always outstanding.
Outstanding food for each course. We had salads, scallops (amazing), hanger steak, and roasted root veggies. All were delicious and the service was great. Quiet and cozy atmosphere. Perfect meal.
An excellent experience all around. Don't miss out on a side order of the seasonal mushrooms.
Our favorite place to eat in Madison! Great food and wine!
Our server was exceptional!
Not our usual experience. Soup was cold service was not what we are used to from Harvest and just overall not what we’ve been used to from this restaurant
Great. Good food and variety including vegetarian, chicken, steak, and seafood in appetizer, small dish, and main course sizes. Good service with pleasant waiters and low wait times. Refined atmosphere with soft lighting, small dining rooms, and low noise levels. It's pricey, but not unreasonably so for the substance and quality. Prepare for sticker shock, and you'll be pleased that it's not actually too shocking.
Overall good, upscale dining.
It was a lovely evening all around.
